"Mentally I don't feel 100 percent."

That's a weird thing to admit after an offseason of rest.

Maybe he was speaking in the absolute present. He wasn't at 100% that second because he just lost a game of Madden. Or his insanely elaborately decorated Hummer blew a speaker. Something like that.

Maybe he's just saying he's stupid.

Maybe English is his second language.  I'm pretty sure he meant that he thinks his knee is
around 80% strength, but that's an estimate since he hasn't been testing it fully yet so he
doesn't have a lot of empirical data right now.

Since he already said "surgically-repaired left knee is "maybe 80 percent or 85 percent" strength", he's really driving home the point that his knee isn't 100%? Perhaps.

Can't it be both?
Take that, Adolf Eyechart.

I don't think he realizes that is exactly what he was saying.

rotoworld.

"Alfonso Soriano said Monday that his surgically-repaired left knee is "maybe 80 percent or 85 percent" strength, according to a Chicago Sun-Times story.
As if that wasn't enough to arouse a bit of concern, Soriano continued: "Mentally I don't feel 100 percent. But we'll see in how my knee is running in the field and doing some stuff I didn't do in the Dominican." Soriano hit just .241 with 20 homers last season for the Cubs, but reuniting with hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo had some hoping for a resurgence. Keep tabs on Soriano's status as your draft day approaches.

Seems pretty obvious that he's saying he's trying to say not only does his knee still hurt, but that mentally he doesn't have much confidence in it.

I guess he'll just have to DH for the Cubs most of the season.

Oh, wait...

I just think he's trying to get out of some Spring Training drills and the stuck eyelid thing has already been used before.

If Soriano starts 9 games for the Cubs this year, I'd be cool with that.

Nice choice, Jim.

"Jose Ceda brought a painful secret with him when he showed up to spring training last season with the Marlins, fresh off a trade from the Chicago Cubs. Ceda -- unbeknown by the Marlins until Sunday -- had shot his best friend with a handgun in the Dominican Republic.

The friend survived, and the shooting was ruled an accident, according to the 23-year-old pitcher and his agent, Paul Kinzer. Details of the shooting are fuzzy.

But Ceda was scarred emotionally. "

Wasn't that the turd they got in the Todd Walker deal? Nice choice, indeed.

I've been Cub fan since the early 80s. After all of this time, investment, and heartbreak I can't see myself not watching the Cubs. It's a part of my sports fan life. As usual I'm all in with these guys as they start a new season with the hopes of getting over the hump someday.

I'm with you.  I'm going to be as annoyed as ever with them, but I know I'll watch.

Yup. I think Huey's full of shit. He'll watch/listen/ANGER until they're out of contention just like the rest of us jagoffs.
