Didn't really seem worthy of its own thread, but SI ranks Hendry as the 16th best GM in baseball.

16. Jim Hendry, Chicago Cubs

It's tempting to overreact to a lousy 2009 and to heavily count bad contracts doled out to players such as Alfonso Soriano and Milton Bradley against Hendry, but the truth is that he built a consistently successful team that had every chance to win a World Series at its peak and just didn't, through no real fault of his. The Cubs are now likely in for a hangover as the core of that team ages, but given the team's history he was right to go for it all.

They ranked my brother #1.

He might be 16, but most everyone after him is either new on the job or Omar Minaya, Ned Colletti,  Brian Sabean,  Ed Wade,  Dayton Moore.

He's pretty much in the bottom 6 or 7 on that list.

How is Mozeliak worse than Hendry?  Mozeliak remade his team on the fly last year.  And Colletti has been to the playoffs nearly as often, beaten Hendry head to head and won more playoff series than him in far shorter of a time.

Listening to the broadcast of the first game on the A's radio station and the first comment that the announcers made was that there was no way that Soto weighed 230 pounds as listed on their programs.  They were really impressed by how thin he was.

You know it's spring when you hear another Garry Meier promo. Do I have to hear that 5 seconds of suck every day for the next seven months?

Nope...the beauty of opposing team broadcasts (click for today's A's team).
I can't believe I even know these people. I'm ashamed of my internet life.

But Gary is going to talk to the Ricketts!  Just think how compelling the radio will be on that destined day.

This team is "consistently successful" at what, exactly?

But how will I know if the Cubs are wearing their familiar white jerseys and pants with blue pinstripes, blue numbers and blue socks?

Marlon Byrd has sprung! He's going to have the Miltar Bradleyaparra like spring and then fade into Bolivian come April.

Let's hope the fans in the bleachers remember to bring their racial epithets to the games this year.

This season will probably set new highs for suck on the field & on the air but it sure is nice to have Pat & Ron back on the (satellite) radio.

That's an awfully high bar there. It may not be a great Cubs team this year, but it certainly won't set a new high in suck.
