Excelllent point.  I'm just bummed that he was the best goaltender in the building last night.

He was fired up and still couldn't keep the Hawks from scoring 4. Edmonton is in for one fucking long siege.

Khabby wasn't very good. If that was supposed to be his A game because he was returning to the UC then that's not good.

I have to admit that I was disappointed though.  I wanted the Hawks to paste the Oilers.  Khabi made some nice stops on Versteeg's breakaway and Sharp's penalty shot, which kept this thing from being a blowout.

I think if the teams switched goalies last night the Hawks win that game 8-3. The Oilers are thin and they're going to hit a wall sooner rather than later. They've got one good offensive player on each line in order to have each line be some kind of threat. It's not going to work when just one of those guys (Penner, Cogliano, Gagner or Hemsky) gets hurt. They have no depth. Poop on them.

I do like that Dr. Steve Brule is on their squad. For your health.

Did any of you see that over-produced, painfully melodramatic documentary about the Gretzky trade to L.A. on ESPN? It was pretty good!

I happy with the win, because if they had lost then every meathead writer would be lamenting today on how the Hawks should have signed Khabby to a new deal.

I couldn't believe the meatheads in my section last night treating every save Niemi made (there weren't that many) as if he preserved a shutout.

They weren't the best saves, but they were the right saves.

It was pretty interesting how the story was told without any narration, just anecdotes from some of the main players and the discussions between Berg and Gretzky. I had forgotten how emotional Grtetzky was at the press conference. And there were some pretty sweet mullets in the tapes from the '80s, especially one young kid who was helping pull a curtain out before introductions.

I still remember the Hockey News headline - "99 Tears".

If Pocklington hasn't taken such a financial fisting, and had been able to keep that team completely intact, they would of won 10 Cups.

I don't get it.

Also, Khabibulin, Kyle Ortman, Mark DeRosa.  Why do so many people around here have such a keen interest on ordinary players who don't even play for our teams anymore?
I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.
