OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Another hijack...

I had a cortisone injection in my shoulder today. I've had tendinitis in the long head biceps where it ties into the shoulder since late last softball season. It's hurt like a cunt with teeth ever since. Well, the numbing has worn off and I do feel a bit better right now, just moving my arm around into positions that used to hurt. There's some discomfort but not what there was. I'm obviously not going to test it out by trying to fire a football 50 yards or bench press my weight. But I'm wondering what I might expect.

If you've ever had such an injection, tell me: will the pain/inflammation continue to reduce over the next day or week? Or is this it?

Didn't do shit for me.  I take that back, it felt wierd for a week and then didn't do shit and my shoulder went back to feeling like I was being stabbed and then set on fire when I rotated it over my head.

I had some pretty major structural problems going on, though, so it's probably not comparable.

My pops has had a couple and they've worked well so hopefully it's more like that for you.

I'm trying to figure out if I have major structural damage or tendinitis like the Dr. said. Physical therapy didn't do shit, so now it's the needle. Next it's an MRI and the reality that the one athletic talent I ever had is gone forever.

I hear snapping a towel has worked definitely a few times.

All right, I'm dragging this thread back out -- it seems like a slow enough morning here.

I'm looking to move to Kansas City in the next few months (if you care -- long-term girlfriend is there) and that would first require a job.  I'm willing to look across some sort of marketing/journalistic/editorial/PR capacity.  I could also do something within higher education.  I could also pitch for the Royals, I think.

My first question is if anyone is in the KC area, or knows someone there who might have jobs leads.

Also, any ideas on job websites worth looking at?  I've done the typical stuff like Monster.com and CareerBuilder, but a lot of the marketing jobs listed there are just sales, which isn't something I'm interested in.  Where do you guys look for employment?  Besides the back alleys and street corners, of course.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Paging Jake Potter... Jake Potter? Jake?

Doesn't he live in KC? Is he gainfully employed? He has mouths to feed.

Columbo? Female dog? Wasn't that more like 1968 or so?

Quote4. Chicago (15-3). Bring it on, e-mailers. I can't wait. Get it all out of your system now, because I do not think on a neutral field the Bears are better than the Patriots or Chargers.

I could maybe see the Chargers because our run defense has been suspect at times, but I see the Patriots as receiving accolades based on reputation similar to how Notre Dame has been accused.  They've been traditionally great in the last several years, and Tom Brady has carried the team this year, but I see them as having more flaws than the Bears.

That said, what's with his self-applause for being courteous on the airplane?  Way to inject yourself into the story, dipshit.

The woe-is-me-because-I-travel-the-country-to-watch-the-NFL-games-of-my-choice theme is evident throughout the season.

We get it. Security people at the airports are sometimes dolts, sometimes reasonable. TSA rules often make no sense. It's a pain in the ass to travel. Only you, Peter King, NFL expert (only surpassed by Dr. Z in NFL expertise), can tell me this (none of us have ever flown before here in the Midwest).

Why doesn't Peter King investigate the ball that Terry Glenn couldn't hold onto? You want the Alex Gonzalez to Tony Romo's Steve Bartman, the Bob Stanley to Tony Romo's Bill Buckner? That's Terry Glenn. And Bill Parcells is John McNamara and Dusty Baker for calling that play so close to the goal line.

Oh, I watched a little bit of the press conference. Parcells asked about the ball. He said it was a normal game ball, not a "K" ball.

I just want to say how impressed I am that no one here has mentioned Heineken.  If one could have a genuine hatred for a beer, I do and it's for that crap.

Oh, but people have mentioned Heineken. Just not in any positive way.

Bell's won't play ball with Chicago Beverage, and since no one wants to deal with Yusef Jackson, you can't get Bell's in Chicagoland anymore.

Big Fan of Woodford Reserve, although I'm not as big a bourbon lover as I'm a Scotch lover. My Scotch of choice is Glenlivet, but Lagavulin is excellent.
you might also enjoy Highland Park.

More of a Highwood man, myself.

I married a Highland Park girl, so yes, I do enjoy the pleasures of Highland Park (speaking of Highland Park and booze, they put a Sam's Wine and Spirits on US 41 and Park Ave West.. yum). I will try HP Scotch.

As for Highwood, better restaurants and better dive bars. The Wooden Nickel was always a favorite dive bar that I frequented. I haven't been back since I turned 21.

I enjoy Leinenkugel's and have been enjoying it a lot more since my sister's fiancee is an area rep for Leinies and whenever we get together, he brings beer. That said, he's a Sox fan so maybe it's best to avoid buying Leinie's because we all know that he'll spend his commission on meth anyway.

Seriously, though Leinie's is pretty good, but I also enjoy Goose Island (Honker's, IPA and 312), Fat Tire, Anchor Steam and Sierra Nevada.

For foreign drinking, I do like Smithwick's, Warsteiner and Harp -- in that order. Give me a Stella and I won't complain, either.

For industrial drinking (parking lot at Soldier Field, for example), Coor's Light, Miller Lite, MGD, Budweiser, Bud Lite and Bud Select are what's consumed, in that order.

Now, what's everyone's favorite Scotch? Bourbon?
