In December 2006, it was reported that the BBC had commissioned a Life on Mars spin-off series, to be titled Ashes to Ashes after another David Bowie song of the same name. The Times reported that this spin-off would pick up the lives of Gene Hunt and other characters from the series in 1981.

It's nice, for once, to be on the right side of the pond.  I can pre-order the Series 2 DVD already, to be delivered in six weeks...

Really, really jonesing for this thing to come out over here.  They just replayed the first season on BBC America, and the opening scene time-switch with Bowie playing in the background -- that's about as moved as I'll get by a TV show.

News on the American version.  Lenny Clarke is going to play one of the cops (not The Gov).
