I think thay are different types of sci-fi shows.  Galactica is more drama where as Firefly was more drama/comedy.  There were a lot of funny throw away lines in Firefly.  Galactica is played off as if this were an actual event, and really, where's the funny in the destruction of mankind?  Both are extremely well written.  It's really a shame that major network tv doesn't pick up a sci-fi show.

Season two was hit or miss...some good, some not so good....  Season 3 has been great or good.  You have much to look forward to.

It's not really fair to compare the two other than the fact that they're both set in a sci fi genre. Galactica is a pretty harsh drama with very little comic relief. Firefly is much more a quirky Western with a good deal of romantic comedy and straight comedy. I love both shows, but you're not really comparing apples to apples.

I'll have to check the OD section.  Looks like they're wrapping season 3 up soon.  I'll have to get through season 2 and maybe get the season 3 DVD.

Season 3 so far has outdone the second season as a whole. Maybe one truly mediocre episode so far whereas Season Two had a few clunkers. Season 3 starts back up in a few weeks and moves to Sundays at 9 p.m. CST, so you might not want to wait for that DVD.

It hasn't been signed to a fourth season yet and the ratings have dropped, but SciFi may very well sign up for a new season, according to rumors on the Internets.

I think Studio 60 has real potential but, for some reason, it's not working. The behind the scenes stuff could be good but, you're right, it isn't that compelling. It almost takes too much precedence over the very real human conflict on and off stage. The idea of a pressure-packed week compressed into a little less than an hour (and I love the clock on Perry's wall) is a great (and classic) device.

Part of it is the show within the show though doesn't seem that funny. The supposedly stolen lines, for example, weren't that funny. Why steal bad lines? And how can you not fire the two writers who protect the plagarist? You want them gone and they've offered to go. And the Gilbert and Sullivan opera earlier in the season? Awful.

The whole lead writer/lead actress romance-on-the-rocks should be great but they lack a little chemistry. Whitford, who is great, can't carry the show on his own as written. DL Hughley hasn't hit any stride and seems mis-cast. The bad network guy has stepped too far into the background too. He's a great character as one of those people you love to hate.


And, as someone who's married to a doctor, I'm all for horny doctors. At least one.

I don't know, the last two episodes have been pretty disappointing. The reporter-on-the-set isn't doing anything for me either.

It's quickly degenrating into just watching it so I can gaze lovingly at Amanda Peet.

That was a great season finale. I don't know that I've gasped out loud at a TV series in years. I think Adama could very well be dead, but it probably depends on real life stuff. I would think that the show might have revived Olmos' acting career a bit. Or Adama could just be laid up and out of the picture for the most part for a bunch of episodes like Swearingen on Deadwood so Olmos can do another project.

I keep forgetting that there are a lot of Deep Space Nine alums on BG. I caught a couple early DS9 episodes, but I've never been a Trekkie. They really beat Trek to death. Again. And again.

Anyway, here's the first couple questions, but it's an interesting and long interview.




Question: So, Commander Adama -- is he dead? Whatever updates you can give on his condition as Season 2 begins are much appreciated.

Weddle: I can't answer that. You saw where the bullets hit him. What do you think? Personally, I think it's going to be very touch and go. Let's hope he makes it.

Thompson: That would be kiss and tell, wouldn't it? As the second season begins, he's in exactly the same shape as he was after the bullets hit him. And we have to deal with that.

Question: Does Col. Tigh end up in charge of the military? If so, how much does his drinking increase as a result?

Weddle: Tigh's the XO. He would without question assume command of Galactica and therefore the military. How will he withstand the pressure? Will he be able to develop the diplomatic skills to deal with the civilian population? Will he be tempted to seek more solace from the bottle than usual or manage to control his addiction, and his ambitious wife? We will be exploring all of these questions in the new season.

Thompson: As XO, Tigh will have to step up while Adama's under the weather. It's a lot of pressure for someone who never aspired to command. He's spent a lot of his life medicating his problems away. Now he's going to be hit with a whole new level of problems: An incarcerated president, an unruly Quorum, and an overly ambitious wife. I'd say the sauce might seem pretty tempting, but who can say? Adama saw something in the man a long time ago, and perhaps that quality will come out.

I must confess the new BG is one of my few must-see programs, but I've always been a sucker for good sci-fi. Olmos as Adama, the President and Gaius stand out. In terms of eye candy, Starbuck and Boomer don't do much for me. Starbuck, in particular, annoys me. I don't hate her because she's not man or because she's not Dirk Benedict. I hate her because she has a tenth of his charisma.
