Not too shabby.

Sounds like the deal is still not finalized and the Tigers are still in play.

How am I supposed to be accept them sucking this year if they're going to sign one of the top Free Agent pitchers?

Epstink is confusing.

But, ultimately he's a real solid pitcher and if they're looking at future free agent markets and thinking that this is a good deal based on what's upcoming, then hell yeah.

DPD for Garza, welcoming him to The Chi.

A couple of months ago, I went out into public and saw Fork, who mentioned that the real baseball to watch will be in Geneva, Ill., home of the Kane County Cougars.  I was reminded of this today when I saw the Tribune article on Mark Johnson, new skipper of the Kane County Cougars.

This team should have Jorge Soler, Albert Almora, Dan Vogelbach, Javier Baez as well as something called Shawon Dunston Jr. (anything like thiis?)

We're talking 1986-1987 Pittsfield Cubs territory (Jamie Moyer back when he just got through puberty, Greg Maddux before he discovered golf, Darrin Jackson when he had two balls, Damon Berryhill back when people thought he was going to be good, Drew Hall back when we began to suspect he might suck but weren't sure, Rafael Palmeiro before they invented Viagra and before he discovered Winstrol, Mark Grace before he had an interlock device on his car, Lester Lancaster, Paul Noce before he became a superstar in late June 1987, Rich Amaral before he attained minor celebrity in Seattle, Doug Dascenzo before Ford Frick instituted a height requirement in baseball, Dickie Noles in a rehab appearance that didn't include Betty Ford, Jeff Pico before he became the NEXT BIG THING with the Cubs in 1988, Dwight Smith before he could afford bodyguards, Hector Villanueva before anyone in Chicago knew just how awesome an enormous poor defensive catcher who hit a lot of home runs was, Mike Harkey before he became the NEXT BIG THING with the Cubs in 1990, Phil Stephenson, Gary Varsho and the wonderfully named Rolando Roomes).

They ruled the Eastern League and were managed by none other than Jim Essian, who strangely demanded to be named "Skip Johnson." So the Cougars have their own Skip Johnson, and the potential of this ballclub has to rival that of the Pittsfield Cubs, with Vogelbach starring as Hector Villanueva.

Anyway, despite my proclamation that all is well on the North Side and that the Cubs should have no problem winning 73 games or so, why not have a group outing in Geneva? Just take North Avenue and keep driving until you see the lights in the distance on the left.

I thought Elfstrom was off of Roosevelt (IL-38) not North Ave (IL-64)?

It is, but taking 64 gives you a scenic route of the  North Side, Elmwood Park, Elmhurst, northern DuPage County, St. Charles etc.

But fine, Mike D. will drive everyone on his bike/rickshaw using Roosevelt Rd.

Plus, Johnnie's Beef is on 64.

There's also a Portillo's.

North Ave. has more Portillo's than Golf Rd.

Until now I hadn't before realized that there two Portillos on Golf fewer than 3 miles from one another (New Wilkie & Plum Grove).

This new PANKMaps update is really buggy.

Your dead, whore grandmother's really buggy.

Granted, the last game I saw at Kane County was in 1994 (got to see ARod strike out and muff a double play for Appleton)...but if I remember correctly one of the attractions was the food.  I'm talking real food, not the kind of overpriced crap that compels one to stuff his fanny pack with a Bacci slice, I'm talking fat pork chop sandwiches on an open grill quality....so if there is a road trip, I'm thinking you might want to skip the beef stands beforehand.

Growing up, my grandparents had a "country house" in Western Massachusetts and on certain warm, buggy summer nights we would all pile in the car and go see the Pittsfield Mets play at Waconah Field, after the Cubs ended their affiliation.

This was late 80s/early 90s. It was my first minor league experience and a great atmosphere to watch a ball game. I always wondered if it was secretly a letdown for guys to make it all the way to the bigs only to have to end up playing games at Shea after summer nights in the Berkshires.

You're all forgetting that guns are cool and make you look cool, and that you're all probably a bunch of gheys. Or women. Or ghey women. 'Cept ghey women could probably handle a weapon better than some twink like Thrill.

Guns, like giant spoilers on small cars indicate the owner is compensating for something, such as a tiny little dick. If you think chicks don't know this by now, you're getting blinded by your bangs again.

I feel like somebody in this conversation is quoting Fro Dog but I'm not sure who it is.

Probably Eli.

Has anyone ever purchased or attempted to purchase a foreclosed home?

As we have 6 months left on our rent, I was thinking that this might be an opportunity for us since I understand the process takes a while.

I'll hang up and wait for any and all smartass responses, particularly those about leaving Arizona to purchase a foreclosure.

Looking at you, CT.

Looks like we have yet another reason to never have a practical discussion about gun violence in this country. Oh, well.

Because of course the millions of law abiding gun owners are the primary cause of gun violence in this country.

I was referring to this.

Senseless and tragic.

My bad, I thought you were referring to today's 7th. Court of Appeals decision.

To be fair, I could have probably linked to it in the first place.

It was the first thing on my internet when I got home last night. So, I wasn't even thinking of the other gun news from yesterday.

Then I got all self-righteously indignant when I saw your response, but managed to hold off posting a pissy reply long enough to realize that you probably thought I was referring to the concealed carry ruling.

Why does a person need to carry a concealed loaded pistol?

In case there are minorities around.

On FB the concensus is that people will stop killing innocent people because the bad guys will have some fear of getting shot. Those comments from people i know are in posts about drive by shootings, increase in violence in Chicago, or the shooting last night in Oregon. Which make no sense to me.

I've encountered a fair amount of that myself from fuckfaces in Buttpuddle. People want to puff their chest out and pretend to be some kind of tough guy because they carry a weapon. I think most of them suffer from micropenis syndrome. The rest from microintelligence syndrome.

What could go wrong?

$85.00 for a six pack?  Don't ask me.  I heard it on NPR

$94.68 with tax, thankyouverymuch.

Tons of Westy 12 left at Binny's Lincoln Park. I'll be heading there after work.

You mean you weren't camping out at 5 AM like a common Penfoe?

Poser.

I EARNED this beer, man.

The place I went ended up getting 36 total 6-packs and they were all sold out before the store opened at 8 am.

I don't know if Boulder has more committed beer snobs than Lincoln Park (per capita probably, but doubtful on total) but that's really surprising if it holds true and you can get one that late in the day.

My son just posted this on his Facebook page:  (I can't believe that he needs advice about beer)

"I am visiting las Vegas soon. Can you give me some craft beer suggestions for my trip? I will have a car and a designated driver. Thank you in advance"

Craft beer in Vegas?

I'm not sure he understands the whole idea of "Las Vegas."

But...trying to be helpful - he's probably going to have access to some good West Coast options.

If he the one in Japan? If so, these will all likely be new to him.

Tell him to look for anything from Ballast Point, Odell, Rogue, Deschutes, Oskar Blues and Left Hand.

Those will likely be readily available and all will suffice.

If he's looking for hyper-local, Nevada isn't really well-known for local micro-breweries.
Here's a list of all the brewers in Nevada - I can't really speak to any of them, except Gordon Biersch which is very unremarkable.

You forgot Sierra Nevada.

Speaking of which...
