Ironically enough (CT?), Yeti Imperial Stout is fantastic.

Also, for more everyday stouts available in Chicago, in addition to those mentioned:  Kalamazoo (Bell's), Obsidian (Deschutes), Sierra Nevada Stout and Bell's Java are all solid.

My wife enjoys Sam Adams Cream Stout quite a bit,  which is pretty light. Probably not what you're looking for to fulfill a Stout fix, but you can have 5 of them withit feeling like you ate a tire.

No to the irony but yes to the stout.

Samuel Adams Holiday Porter. Seriously. It's not the best porter ever. But it's the RIGHT porter.

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout.

Almost coffee-like. As with I'm sure most stouts, far better served warmer rather than colder. I think I liked it best at nearly room temperature.

Great, I have this in my cabinet at near room temp. A four pack wasn't very expensive and this is the second or third good thing I've heard about it.

My son just posted this on his Facebook page:  (I can't believe that he needs advice about beer)

"I am visiting las Vegas soon. Can you give me some craft beer suggestions for my trip? I will have a car and a designated driver. Thank you in advance"

Craft beer in Vegas?

I'm not sure he understands the whole idea of "Las Vegas."

But...trying to be helpful - he's probably going to have access to some good West Coast options.

If he the one in Japan? If so, these will all likely be new to him.

Tell him to look for anything from Ballast Point, Odell, Rogue, Deschutes, Oskar Blues and Left Hand.

Those will likely be readily available and all will suffice.

If he's looking for hyper-local, Nevada isn't really well-known for local micro-breweries.
Here's a list of all the brewers in Nevada - I can't really speak to any of them, except Gordon Biersch which is very unremarkable.

Thanks for the information.  This is the one who lives in Napa.  He and his wife visit Las Vegas 2 or 3 times a year, and his hobby is craft beer, so I was surprised by his Facebook post.  I guess he is just looking for some inside information.
Gordon Biersch is almost family to us. Dan Gordon is the son of friends with whom we went to college.  When Dan graduated Cal he wanted to go to Germany to study to become a brewmeister.  However the school required that he serve an apprenticeship.  So I asked a Teamster business agent to get him a job at the Anheiser Busch plant in Fairfield Calif.  The school accepted 6 months there as an apprenticeship.  He went to Germany, got his degree (it is actually a chemistry degree), came back and formed a partnership with a friend named Biersch and the rest is history.

Well, in that case he probably is looking for Nevada-based options, since he clearly knows his craft beer and likely has tried all the West Coast options.

Meaning - you can send him that link, but I can't be of much help otherwise.

Separately, I'll take an order of Gordon Biersch's garlic fries, if you get a chance.

The garlic fries are the only reason that I go to see the Cubs play the Giants at AT&T Park.

I went to Iowa's listing on there: Court Avenue. It's legit. SKO probably sang his heart out there once or twice
