OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

I say start a new league Apex.  The keeper league didn't seem real well thought out and you were right about half the managers quiting or not even starting last year.

APEX WAS RIGHT!!!!! SCHIZM!!! I'm only inviting the cool people too.

Fuck!

What?  So that is how my team was able to make the playoffs...no one else was trying.  I should have known.  Now I have to try to bump up my cool quotient, which is uncool.

Here's a classic that I'm sure will be on You Tube soon (if not already). Yesterday afternoon (Sunday 8/24), I was returning to my parents' home to drop off my dad after watching a minor league baseball game. On the corner of a highway a couple of blocks from their house was a sign with "x b w" on it and an arrow pointing south. Some earlier investigation into the meaning of this sign had revealed a backyard with a regulation-size boxing/wrestling ring in it. I found out that "x b w" stood for "extreme backyard wrestling". I quickly phoned some buddies who were also returning from the game and we decided to check it out. We drove through the alley and some long-haired dude yelled "Are you coming in to check out the show because it's time for the main event". We decided to give it a look and we joined about 50 people ranging in ages from 4 to 50. What we saw was 30 minutes of crazy shit. There was entrance music, a female ref, and even a bell, and some girl was filming it (which means it's gonna be on You Tube). The long-haired dude was involved in a match involving two other guys that were no older than 18. After cutting open his own head by smashing a beer can on it, he proceeded to engage these kids in a pretty good match. One of the kids got thrown on to a bail of barbed-wire and got stuck (pretty bloody and took them a while to get him out). But the topper was when long-hair and one of the kids took the match about 100 feet away to a parked car in their yard. They got on top of this mid-90s T-Bird and the kid was able to body-slam long-hair THROUGH the rear windshield. Shattered that SOB and it was REAL. The long-hair was cut pretty badly and his "old lady" was visibly pissed when she said "dammit, that car still runs". People gathered to look at and take pictures of the lacerations on the guy's arm, while one of his cohorts drove up an old Bronco to take him to the emergency room. We decided the match was over and headed to the car, and some teen-age kids asked us if we were glad we stopped by. What a question. Just a quck vacation into White Trashville.

I solemnly pledge never to speak ill of Iowa again. That story is awesome. Were they able to salvage the NO FEAR decal from the shattered rear windshield?

I think that sticker was on the bumper. Dented the shit out of the hood and trunk in addition. I'm just pissed that I had my phone with me and didn't take pictures. I'm thinking there might be a Labor Day Weekend rematch, though...

I know what I'll be doing Friday night.  Cruising around eastern Iowa wearing my Sandman t-shirt looking for a little 'x b w', baby.

The look on Mrs. TJs face is Morton's bone-in ribeye in a peppercorn congnac reduction sauce.

I get that look a lot. Hey, what's Jeff Samardzija doing on the roof (behind the woman in the Cubs jersey and headphones)?

The people on the rooftop above us sure look like they're having a great time.

I just wanted to go back and give this observation the propers it deserves.  It was a beautiful night, great setting, a ballgame in front of them, and those people look like cows headed to slaughter.

But they are silent and still, which seems to be important to the proprietors.

Last two episodes have been great.  Last night's have been my favorite of all time.  When the Cap'n rushed into the room with his arm tied off screaming "I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE" and they tranqed him, I lost my shit.
Me too.

I wouldn't mind a Guild of Calamitous Intent Shirt.

Nice...I'd like to get an Order of the Triad shirt, but they only sell the shirt for that week's episode for a week (until the next episode is shown) and then it is gone.  So, if you want a OSI shirt, you need to order by August 9th.

Is there really anything dumber than punching a wall/door?  The hand loses almost every time.

Caught the new episode last night...

I guess they can't all be classics.

What are you talking about?  That episode last night was great!  More origins and Shore Leave.
I liked the "The Invisible Hand of Fate" episode a lot more that second time I watched it.  The Dr. Girlfriend cameo in Professor Fantomas's office, "Little Nemo has fallen out of bed.", the removal of Professor Impossible's name from the office window...good stuff.

Don't drink and draft.  Like me.

Is there any other way to do it?  I should have just continued my pre-draft drinking and let Yahoo pick for me.  Couldn't have been much worse.

Mrs.Drinky is planning on attending.  I haven't sprung on her who the other attendees will be.  Time for her to think about the whole 'internet friend' concept might be a little too much.  I'm guessing it won't matter once she is there.  By August, it will be a rooftop with the guys I'm in a roto league with...which might be marginally less ghey.

I'm not sure how they can chop the book down into a film without dropping most of the secondary stories.  For example, I'm guessing the whole 'Black Frieghter" story will probably be dropped from the film to cut down the running time as it doesn't tie directly into the main plot.

Mrs.Drinky gifted me a year's subscription to the Bacon of the Month club a couple of years ago.  Pretty pricey for what you get (which is why I didn't renew it), but still nice to get a pound or so of sweet bacon in the mail once a month.

Bacon of the month?  How many different kinds of bacon are there that there needs to be a club?

You would receive a package from a different smokehouse once a month.  Each smokehouse has their own take/specialty.  Sometimes it would be an applewood smoked bacon, some were more peppery, etc.  It was like the microbrew beer of the month, only with delicious pork.

How pricey was it?

Because delicious bacon delivered to your door sounds like it could be worth at least a decent premium.

http://www.gratefulpalate.com/?p=Category_11 was my hookup.

$150 plus S&H for a year.  Considering you only get a pound at best each month, it just seemed a little steep.  But, the bacon was almost always awesome.
