Mark Grace.  He served his time.

I'm fine with Grace.  I'm sure he'd love a chance to move back to Lincoln Park and not have to worry about driving to work.  Of course I'm always partial to DAY VOTTO but I'm pretty sure his best chance was when he lost out to Moreland.  I'll be driven to PANKRAGE if it's Hollandsowrth or DeRosa (I'm not even considering that muppet Theriot as a serious contender).

I don't follow this stuff as closely as you all do and assumed DeRosa and Hollandsworth were comedic choices. Are they actually being considered? Am I mistaking this Pankpost for sincerity? Is that still a fool's errand here?

Ace the Gay Pornography Expert listed them on his site.

Ace the Gay Pornography Expert listed them on his site took someone else's tweet and stuck "RT" in front of it so people would re-tweet him instead of the original author.

Really specific pet peeve that I decided to bring up now'd.

So THAT'S why people do that. Lame. But not as lame as Chuck & Huey not knowing how to reply to tweets.

All the big names in new media do that and it drives me fucking insane - to the point where if anyone calls people out on it I auto RT it. I've learned that tweeting about how shitty manual RTs are only gets a bunch of assholes to manually RT your comment. It's *so* hilarious.

Anyway, yes Eli is right - that is the worst practice on twitter and most SBN bigwigs do it.

I think there was a grace period after the RT button came out, since some people didn't like it at first. But we're long past that and it's pretty obvious why people do it now.

I'm not meaning to go all Darren Rovell (or whoever that Sports on Earth guy was last week) and have ironclad rules for Twitter, because it's Twitter and who really cares. But the really transparent self-serving stuff just bothers me.

No, but seriously, folks...

Today I learned that there are people out there actively promoting the manual retweet as a best practice brand builder...

It's bad for branding.

Yes, I said it.  When you go to my profile, all you see is my avatar/logo/face. Why would I want to advertise someone else's twitter in my feed?  Why am I working hard to build my business, spread my message, strengthen my credibility if I'm just going to mirror back tweets from twenty other people?

Why should I be compelled to advertise someone else's Twitter feed when I'm the one sharing their content with my followers? #Branding

QuoteIt gives you an opportunity to comment.

I can't help it, I prefer the comment at the front of the Tweet.  This also can serve as the start of a conversation.

Remember, Twitter is about the conversation, not just pressing buttons.  You do want to talk to people, right?

In this tweet, I added "So true" to the front of the RT of @24Intl's tweet...

And they wrote back thank you and what-have-you.

Nothing about that surprises me. That's exactly what they're doing. Expanding their brand and putting their face out front. I get it but people who fall for it are fucking insane. Twitter is an echo chamber as is - all of these people just RT the same dudes with their face on it.

I should compile a list of the worst offenders.

It's about time you guys come around on how annoying I think he is.  And there's nothing I like more than a good bashing of social media/PR/"branding" drones.  What's the background on the 'gay pornography expert,' though?  If I ever knew, I've forgotten.
