STL  4-0

While I would enjoy nothing more than a 4-0 Cubs sweep, if the Cubs could just manage a 2-2 split this time that would be more than acceptable. Everyone was predicting a Cubs sweep in the last series and instead the Cardinals brought the broom.

Just get a split and let time work against the Cardinals. They don't have much time left in 2016.

Screw that. Sweep 'em.

Also had a 12 game lead the last time they were in town.

The Cubs' magic number was significantly higher than 38 that time around too.

Yeah maybe the Cardinals will sweep the Cubs and send them into another 5-15 tailspin and it'll be even more hilarious when they Cardinals somehow fail once again to ever actually threaten them.

What was your favorite moment of the Brian Matusz Era?

Between sending down La Stella in favor of Coghlan, giving Matusz a start because fuck it why not, and using Joel Peralta at all it feels like the Cubs are using the rest of the season for roster tinkering rather than winning which is pretty fucking dumb considering their lead is now longer even remotely close to insurmountable

I declare the following clause to live in perpetuity in Desipio lore.

Quote...their lead is no longer even remotely close to insurmountable

Lead is now "Old St. Louis Rd." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illinois_Route_13), wins total is Higgins Rd., and the Magic Number is Pendleton Pike. (http://roads.mattmajewski.net/images/036052b.jpg)
