To be fair, they get lent the cars. Indeed, the only reason there were two Nobles was that the clutch disintegrated on the first one, so Noble promptly put a guy in another car and made him drive it from England to Italy overnight.
The exposure these car companies get from Clarkson and co raving about their cars is absolutely priceless. I wouldn't be surprised if they were paying the BBC to be involved.

If I recall correctly, the presenters made a big deal about having to buy a Dodge Challenger, rather than Chrysler lending one to them, when they were touring the States a few years back.
