Is this the same Chris Coughlan who is currently tied for the team lead in HR, or another one?

What a weird criteria. He has a .212/.268/.409 line. He's been bad.

Well and given his defense in left he has to be flat out good offensively to justify his spot. Whereas the young guys are developing and can be excused their scuffles, and you at least get good defense behind the plate from Montero or (gulp) even David Ross, Coghlan is a huge liability any time he isn't hitting. So hit, asshole.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

I can deal with Coghlan for a few months until Baez comes back and Bryant is the new full time LF.

Yeah the way he's hitting right now there's no reason not to try Denorfia/Lake/Seizure as stop gaps unless Coghlan warms up. They owe him nothing.

Because currently I'm not the GM of the Cubs and I can't make any changes myself? I don't know, Eli, befuckingcause.

I know I'm opening myself up to accusations of bullshit toleration, and I also know that you'll tell me that baseball discussion is why we all come here... but on the other hand, the Cubs are not shitty for the first time in six years, and the front office has a clear plan to win the World Series within a couple of years - a plan that involves having Coghlan in LF for the time being.  So bearing in that in mind, you might want to try lightening up a bit and actually enjoying some baseball instead of constantly pissing and moaning about Ross, Schlitter, Coghlan and the Cubs' other weak links.  I don't know, it's just a suggestion.  Perhaps you like being miserable, in which case: crack on.

Because the Win Window is longer than just 2015.  Sheesh.  Coghlan will not be the LF when this team wins.  It will be Bryant, Schwarber, or someone else.  In the mean time, they are still +3 on the Wild Card with Bryant OPSing under .600 the last 10 games.

But fuck Chris Coghlan.  HEEZ PREVENTIN US FROM WINNING RITE NOW!!!

Jesus fucking Christ, people. What a bunch of pollyanna bullshit. When did we all become Al?

We know the fucking long term plan, that's great. But welcome back to seasons that matter, where losses matter and they suck. Sure, we all hope 2015 is just the beginning of the window but hey it would still be nice if they want to make the fucking playoffs this year, and part of making the playoffs this year would be to try a different fucking piece off of the scrap heap in left instead of Chris Coghlan if Chris Coghlan is hurting you right now.

What was there to fucking enjoy about Cubs baseball this weekend, Tonk? It sucked. Believe it or not, losses suck! It's okay to bitch about losses and speculate about ways Joe could tinker with things right now to win in the short term AND understand that someday, Kyle Schwarber might be out there hitting dongs in left field.

Seriously, if this season and every season of the Grand Theo Era is gonna be "golly mister there's a plan so why worry about dropping winnable series at home or possibly trying to get more short term production out of left? Our window is open for years!" then fuck right off.

I mean when I come in here wanting to firebarn Kris Bryant for hitting .170 for ten games or whatever as he figures out big league pitching, feel fucking free to throw the plan in my face. But if I say "hey why not try another left fielder instead of Chris Coghlan for a little while precisely becuase Chris Coghlan is not part of the fucking plan I think that's just well within the realm of bitching about "scoring some fucking runs" in the "score some fucking runs" thread.

Understanding that this team is starting 3 rookies, one of whom is the youngest in the league, all three of whom are struggling to some level right now (and probably will at various points all year) and not being upset about Chris Coghlan is not being "Al."

If a Cubs team with Damian Miller and Alex Gonzalez can almost win a pennant, I'll worry nothing about Coghlan if Soler, Bryant and Russell all OPS+ 120 or better.  That's where the smart fan's focus is: Soler (107), Bryant (123) and Russell (64).

Not Chris Coghlan (86).

I just think Coughlan is kind of a weird line to draw. He's out there doing Chris Coughlan stuff. Last year's lightning-in-a-bottle notwithstanding, an 86+ OPS is really all you can reasonably expect out of him.
