QuoteBarney looks REAL good in the field.
Smooth hands and good footwork, natural instincts. Looks like he can hit a little, too. He'll be a fine backup middle infielder next year.

Al's sporting a boner for Theriot 2 already.  I've been to two games (98 more to go before you can take the following seriously) and both times Barney looked like the worst defender on the field.  Screw Al and screw the Cubs' endless parade of middle infield midgets.

See, this is why I turn to stats to analyze shit. Yellon's saying that he's a good defensive 2B. Then you say he sucks. I may have seen him play this year. May not. I don't know. I just can't remember it. However, here we have two completely contrasting viewpoints (and by the way, I trust yours more because Yellon is a dope), but the point remains that our eyes are relatively unreliable. They pretty much provide a Chuck-like confirmation bias. If you see Colvin make a couple nice throws, then one might deduce that he has an above average arm (also, statements like "he has an above average arm", I hate. What is average in this matter? And what's that based off of? Did you line up all the CFs and have them make a toss to the plate and judge it based off of that?). However,  the assumption about Colvin could be completely wrong, but because we saw a couple nice throws once, any nice throw afterwards just affirms what we thought without regard to all the shitty throws/decisions he may have made. Although defensive metrics are an inexact science, I will still trust them over a fan's opinion. They provide more of a structured control to base assessments of players.

In short, Al sucks, stats rule, tits are awesome, and I love gashes /diatribe

Chuck-Like Confirmation Bias is one of the most overrated punk bands of the something something loud noises era.

Eh, they put out a pretty good EP on Forkjoke Records.

Both of these things should exist as they do in this series of witticisms.

I agree (sans the Gordon Lightfoot covers, natch).

I'm intrigued by his zero walks in 37 PAs. And his .324 slugging.

Not me.  I'm only intrigued by his 54 OPS+.
Whoa, that's sub-Neifi, but still above AAron Miles. He should have a pretty long career here.

I have to ask.  The "AA" in "AAron Miles."  Deliberate?

[hangs head] Yes.

It dates back to a serindipitous typo I made on TMS. Back when I blogged.

That's a fair point. I suppose it's because I was issued a Formal Apology, yet I've only received 15 non-roundup/comment of the week posts. I DEMAND MORE. That's one every 3 days. Fading star. Fad. Ing. Star.

Now, he's uncovering the big MLB bat conspiracy

QuoteI welcome any response from Rawlings and/or MLB to this article.

It sure as hell won't be in the comments.

We need to stop the pernicious threat posed to this country by Big Maple!!!

Maybe we can recruit Andrew Breitbart to start a website about that.
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

I will admit, out of curiousity, I went over to BCB to see if Al had thrown a hissy-fit over the Sandberg stuff.

Instead, I saw this: http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2010/11/4/1792196/cubs-outsource-publications-department

4 paragraphs on how the Cubs are outsourcing Vine Line and their scorecard printing to a company in Cincinnati.

And there are like 25+ comments on it.

What.

Important thoughts:

QuoteI wonder about the financial arrangement for the creative people
Had they been full time employees with benefits who will now become work for hire people without them?

What of them? I NEED CLOSURE.

QuoteNo, Cubs publications aren't being sent to India -- just Cincinnati. (Insert joke here.)

Banned from Facebook access.  Oh, wait, is this Al?

If he (a Howard Dean supporter) only knew who he was emulating.

I don't pay very much attention to that site.  Things like this are the reason:

"Should The Cubs Offer Kosuke Fukudome To The Phillies?
by Al Yellon on Dec 6, 2010 9:30 AM CST in News"

This thoughtful article addresses the Phillies needs now that Jayson Werth has been made the second richest person in the world.  If some of you are permitted to go there, maybe you could ask why we should care?

If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)

Today, after 308 words and a player by player comparison of the 1976 team to this team (seriously), Al asks:

"What more can I really say?"

615 words is the answer.

Since we all know everything Al spews out is going to be tripe, why waste the time in going to read it?
