Frankly, I don't drink much beer. I do, however, consume vast quantities of whiskey and rum and I know many of you do as well. As a college student with a budget I usually can't go much higher than $25 dollars a bottle and for that price range Jameson, Johnny Walker Red, and Jim Beam are the trio that I turn to most when the working day is done. I only drink Jack Daniels when I intend to punish myself like the flagellants of old. As far as rum goes, Bort and I were just extolling the virtues of Sailor Jerry in the shoutbox the other day. I realize most of you guys are a bit more sophisticated (and expensive) with your hard liquor choices, and I know Tonk will recommend a good single malt scotch, but what are some other excellent whiskey, rums, or gins (vodka is for Chads and suicidal Russian authors and tequila is the work of the devil)?

I recommend Knob Creek for anyone looking for a strong, smooth, higher-end bourbon, and The Glenlivet is the only single malt scotch I've had and I was not disappointed.

We all love the Cubs, even if weekends like this one make us all consider jumping over to FDB2 simply to indulge in the "FIARA JIM HAENDRY!" madness. We all also hope that their young, legitimate hitting prospects (particularly ones that recently won Rookie of the Year) pan out. We all also hate PenFoe.

The simple fact is, after a mere 15 lackluster at-bats, PenFoe decided to cast aside any hope for Soto's 2010 season. Quoth- "SKO, I'm going to tell you something, and you may not want to hear it...Soto sucks." He then demanded that I present a "benchmark" OPS that I would demand of Soto by May 1st in order to consider him a success. I suggested that .775 (for a catcher, not bad) should be the benchmark, but in light of his recent hitting streak (which some of us foresaw), I'm going to say .800 is the bare minimum.

So here is my proposal: from here on out, for every day that young Soto has an OPS at or above .800, I suggest you all hurl that wonderful invective, "Fuck You Pen," here in this thread. I'll go first:

I just picked this up yesterday. I still prefer American IV or American V, but this is outstanding nonethless. The deep, solemn religious vibe from the previous American albums really takes over here. Ain't No Grave or 1 Corinthians 15:15 are powerful enough to put the fear of God in Oleg. Good stuff.

Just so the Bears thread doesn't become overloaded. Did anyone watch the game last night? How the hell do the Dolphins start a drive, down 4 pts, with 3:17 left in the game and not go into the hurry up until after the friggn' two minute warning? Considering Chad Pennington's incapable of a pass deeper than 25 yards maybe, just maybe, you should try to conserve as much clock as possible?  They made Lovie's clock management against Green Bay look downright admirable.
