2 weeks until pitchers and catchers, meaning that Yahoo is going to open up fantasy baseball soon.
So, fuck it...
Keepers (assuming 2010 rules in place-where we have a 2-round bump from draft and waivers start with round 13):
Round 1. Tulo - pending where my draft pick is in the round (meaning that if I have the 1-3 pick in the first round, I'm not keeping Tulo).
Round 7. Max Scherzer
Round 10. Shin-Soo Choo
Round 11: Jose Bautista
Round 12: Delmon Young
Round 13: Carlos Santana
Round 14: Huston Street

Is that what a nemesis is?
Also, Pen or someone else or both or multiples, I'll probably need some assistance loading the keepers this year. I've got a 1 year old and my turn came up to commish this other keeper league. Plus, I'm trying to get into yoga, sooooo....there's that, too.

Just start the league when it's open and cede over commish duties.
We did the same thing in hockey with Pex and Gil.

When you can keep a guy with a .667 OPS last year (Lifetime .742) and has hit approximately 20 homeruns and 145 RBIs over a 4 year career (of full-time duty), you gotta make that move. (Skip Schumaker in case anyone is wondering)
Your league continues to impress with it's horrendousness. With that many keepers, it's a near certainty that there are only shitty players left to draft, unless BC has kept all of them. That leaves you with the Snorks of the world. Enjoy.

It's completely appropriate to judge the entire league based upon 13th place team.

It's a picture of a "Pause." button. And it means: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Pause.
I know I'm negative on the interwebs. It's where I go to say all the hateful things that I don't want to say out loud. Do other people use the interwebs like this? Should I try to be more positive? I've noticed him adding that smiley an awfully lot lately. I don't know what it means, either. If it's the buttsex logo, then does that mean he's flirting with me? I'm flattered, Pex, but you're way too negative to get in these jorts.
I don't think I can. I mean the Packers are probably going to win the Super Bowl and I only have two emotions - rage and vomit. Sorry.
I've never heard of that. You win the intranets today. And I don't mind if you're negative, but you'll never get me to chat you off on the facebook by being negative.

The league is up and the invites are out. If you didn't get one, then the problem is with you. You need to check a different email address. It's there. Trust me.

Pick rounds for Axford and Pavano (12th or 13th).
Do all players that were drafted count as the round they were drafted? For example, I picked up Derrek Lee (who was drafted in the 6th round) as a free agent. Can I consider him in the keeper slot or do I have to cut him because it would be insane to keep him as a fourth rounder?

It's based on when they were drafted, regardless of who drafted them or how you acquired them.
And Lee was kept in the 5th round last year (say "thank you" to Yeti), so you'd have to keep him in the 3rd.

What kind of number are you thinking? I'm willing to discuss anything except letting Pex back in the league. He can stay on the short bus. I hear they're using St. Ides-flavored windex now, so he wouldn't want off that thing, anyway. (l l) [did i do that right?]
I'm not much on restrictions and we've already got the 2-round bump. What if the bump increased for each consecutive year a guy was kept. For example, I got Elvis Andrus in the 25th round the first year. With the 2-round bump, I got him in the 23rd last year. Since I want to keep him this year again, 1 round would be added to the bump, so I'd get him in the 20th. Next year if I kept him, another round would be added(4), and I'd get him in the 16th, etc.
Like I said, I'm against TOO many restrictions, so I wouldn't wanna put the cap lower than 10, but that's just me. This ain't no Communist Russia. Let's discuss!

This is a logistical nightmare - we'd have to go back through years of history to determine what year you got the guy.
TDubbs can't even get it right for this year, let alone adding in a historical parameter.

Just because you're keeping 15 guys to start the season doesn't mean you're keeping them the whole year.
We went into last season with the same keeper rules and 310 waiver moves were made in total last season.
That's not boring and shitty.

I don't mean to throw a wrench in JD's works (||), but it appears the custom draft order is currently wrong.
As currently set, it's:
1. Labor Bored
2. BC Bombers
3. Al Yellons Pulitzer
4. Boners Daily
5. Canned Hamms
6. Julie's RSS Feed
7. Long Balls
8. Sweaty Hoopleheads
9. Ya Burnt Son!
10. Paul Walker and NCIS
11. Go Team Venture!
12. Deep in the Cheddar
13. Negative TORP
14. Fernando's New Jeans
Looking at the final standings from last year (http://archive.fantasysports.yahoo.com/archive/mlb/2010/146280/?lhst=stand#lhststand), I think that should be:
1. Labor Bored
2. BC Bombers
3. Al Yellons Pulitzer
4. Boners Daily
5. Long Balls
6. Canned Hamms
7. Julie's RSS Feed
8. Sweaty Hoopleheads

How about League and Pineiro for Bautista alone? That's 2-for-1! (And you can just pick up Chipper to fill in at third.)
Chipper's been having a good spring.

I'm not sure why League or Piniero are even on a roster.
But, for the sake of trading SOMETHING, let's work out a 3-way so Yeti can get that Hawaiian dude he has a boner for.

We can't
all afford to punt a category after locking down W/K/ERA/WHIP by drafting Adam Wainwright.

I think your teams have too many Cardinals.
BC sure loves him some Bud Norris, Randy Wolf, Jose Tabata and Jason Heyward.
I might take the last two.
Not sure why you paid $3 for Melvin Mora in your NL league (keeper prospect?), but I'm now thinking about picking him up off the waiver wire and proposing a trade. Let's see... Hanley only plays one position, while Mora plays 3. That's a +2 for you!
Finally, I still love that you feel so confident in your Desipio roster that you're willing to devote a bench spot to stashing Brett Jackson for 2012. That shows that you've come to play.
$5 for Carlos Beltran? Seems about right.
That's one of the worst NL-only leagues I've ever seen. I'm not sure you guys understand the term "NL-only". Nor do I think you guys quite grasp the 'auction' concept in a keeper league.
Mora has a decent chance to provide .275/10 HR/75 RBI with three-position eligibility since he's starting for the D-Backs. IMO, I think that's a good bench option.
As for the Beltran thing... One of the other players is from New York originally and likes the Mets. I figured I could get him in a bidding war for Beltran and maybe get him to spend $10. Well, right before one of my nominations, another player nominated Bay. The guy from NY ended up spending $9 on Bay... I then figured that the $10 for Beltran was a pipe dream, but I could probably still get him to $7 or $8. I nominated Beltran at $1, the guy bid $3, and I went to $5. The other guy then said "You can have him" or something to that effect, and nobody else bid.

It stands to reason that a Mets fan could well be sicker of Beltran than anyone else.

Just a question on one thing here....
You have Adam Dunn on your NL-only league for the slim chance that he gets traded BACK to the NL in the next 2 years even though he just signed a 4-year deal?
You're not only using a roster spot for him but you also have him listed as your 1B (and it doesn't appear you have any other eligible first basemen).
So does this mean that you get to actually use his stats in an NL-only league?

You're not only using a roster spot for him but you also have him listed as your 1B (and it doesn't appear you have any other eligible first basemen).
So does this mean that you get to actually use his stats in an NL-only league?
Good point, Pen. But you fail to call into account:

PECOTA is back to forecasting RBI, huh? Or did they go back last year and I missed it?
Google is showing me discussions of PECOTA's RBI projections every year back to at least 2004.
Perhaps they don't project RBI in the print edition, but it looks to me like they've at least included those stats in later updates from the very beginning.

I nominated Beltran at $1, the guy bid $3, and I went to $5. The other guy then said "You can have him" or something to that effect, and nobody else bid.
Everything you say makes me feel sad.

I actually get to use Dunn's stats for this season, and next year too if I elect to use him as a keeper for 2012.
This league started in 2002, originally with just 8 guys and it was what I guess you guys would call a "pure" NL-only league. We added 2 more players after the 2003 season, and we had to replace 2 of the players just before this year's auction as 2 guys left the league. After 2003, we agreed that any rule change must be approved by 8 of the 10 players. During last off-season, Adrian Gonzalez's owner (Fearing an in-season trade to an AL team) suggested a rule change that if a player moves to the AL, then his owner could continue to use him through the keeper rule for as long as possible. That only got a couple votes. He then suggested 2 years, and that was approved 8-2. I personally voted against the change both times, since I wanted a chance at Gonzalez, but if the rule is there then I would be dumb not to utilize it when it would help my chances of winning.

because it's fucking retarded.
(That said, at least now if Melvin Mora gets traded to an AL team you can still benefit from his age-40 and -41 seasons.)
My favorite Melvin Mora fact:
QuoteMelvin Mora agreed to represent his native country, Venezuela, in the 2006 World Baseball Classic... He later pulled out after being denied the third-base position in favor of Miguel Cabrera.

A perfectly viable solution to this problem would just be to make this a mixed-league fantasy league if owners are just going to make up new rules to fit their rosters.

Frankly, I'm dubious about the ae ligature in the first place. It's just a long 'e' in my Collins Gem, which is ~180 B.C.E. to 120 C.E.

Dolan, you're creating a lot of work for yourself by expanding BC's universe. Creating one believable character is hard enough - adding 9 friends is going to be a bear. I have faith you're up to the task.

DPD. According to Dusty Baker, being caught stealing (YUK YUK YUK) is the exact same thing as losing a family member.
QuoteIt was a situation that had the club discuss going with a different starter for Thursday.
"There was consideration," Baker said. "We talked about how he felt and could he handle the pressure of it. He said 'yeah.' Sometimes in times of trouble, it's easier to go to work than not go to work."
Baker mentioned how former Reds great Pete Rose pressed on and played during a 44-game hitting streak in 1978, despite having myriad personal problems, including the death of his father.

How he resisted a Hank Aaron reference there is anybody's guess. I suppose Pete is far more appropriate in some respects, if not the example Dusty gave.
