Mora has a decent chance to provide .275/10 HR/75 RBI with three-position eligibility since he's starting for the D-Backs. IMO, I think that's a good bench option.

Some 2011 projections:

             R    HR  RBI  SB    AVG
Marcel       45   10   52   3   .262
Bill James   43    8   45   2   .265
ZiPS         36    6   41   2   .258
CAIRO        51   10   62   3   .267
PECOTA       60   11   55   5   .259

So, you're targeting a 39-year-old's "upside"?

Quote from: BC on March 21, 2011, 12:07:29 PMAs for the Beltran thing... One of the other players is from New York originally and likes the Mets. I figured I could get him in a bidding war for Beltran and maybe get him to spend $10. Well, right before one of my nominations, another player nominated Bay. The guy from NY ended up spending $9 on Bay... I then figured that the $10 for Beltran was a pipe dream, but I could probably still get him to $7 or $8. I nominated Beltran at $1, the guy bid $3, and I went to $5. The other guy then said "You can have him" or something to that effect, and nobody else bid.

It stands to reason that a Mets fan could well be sicker of Beltran than anyone else.

If a keeper moves to the AL, then you are allowed to keep him for up to two years. So, that's how I have Adam Dunn on my team even though he's now in the AL.

BN    Randy Wells ($1)

Just a question on one thing here....

You have Adam Dunn on your NL-only league for the slim chance that he gets traded BACK to the NL in the next 2 years even though he just signed a 4-year deal?

You're not only using a roster spot for him but you also have him listed as your 1B (and it doesn't appear you have any other eligible first basemen).

So does this mean that you get to actually use his stats in an NL-only league?

PECOTA is back to forecasting RBI, huh?  Or did they go back last year and I missed it?

Google is showing me discussions of PECOTA's RBI projections every year back to at least 2004.

Perhaps they don't project RBI in the print edition, but it looks to me like they've at least included those stats in later updates from the very beginning.

That's some high quality stuff right there.  Wow.

If TEC hooks up the Beltran draft saga in a strip, we might have some fodder for our official Tonkfest T-shirts.

I actually get to use Dunn's stats for this season, and next year too if I elect to use him as a keeper for 2012.

This league started in 2002, originally with just 8 guys and it was what I guess you guys would call a "pure" NL-only league. We added 2 more players after the 2003 season, and we had to replace 2 of the players just before this year's auction as 2 guys left the league. After 2003, we agreed that any rule change must be approved by 8 of the 10 players. During last off-season, Adrian Gonzalez's owner (Fearing an in-season trade to an AL team) suggested a rule change that if a player moves to the AL, then his owner could continue to use him through the keeper rule for as long as possible. That only got a couple votes. He then suggested 2 years, and that was approved 8-2. I personally voted against the change both times, since I wanted a chance at Gonzalez, but if the rule is there then I would be dumb not to utilize it when it would help my chances of winning.

Desipio is a free-flowing website that occasionally touches on the immaturity, foolishness and outright stupidity of its readership.

This thread is quickly becoming worse than the "Yetti tries to sell an iPhone" thread.   And THAT'S saying something.
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

Would have been better if you'd voted against this rule because it's fucking retarded.

(That said, at least now if Melvin Mora gets traded to an AL team you can still benefit from his age-40 and -41 seasons.)
