New Rule About Home Plate Collisions
« on: February 25, 2014, 12:20:15 PM »
The new rule, 7.13, states "a runner attempting to score may not deviate from his direct pathway to the plate in order to initiate contact with the catcher (or other player covering home plate)." A runner violating the rule shall be declared out, even if the fielder drops the ball.

On ESPN they are showing the "Top Five Home Plate Collisions".  From what I saw the new rule wouldn't have prevented any of them.
If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)

I don't think you see a lot of take-out slides at home.

A better rule would be for players to not be able to drive into guys when they have the ball, and there's a clear amount of time for them to slide.
