In all seriousness, his stuff was so great that not even casting Jennifer Lopez could ruin it.

I wish they had done better by "Maximum Bob" though.

I just finished reading "Raylan". I've never seen the show but I had no idea that the lead in "Justified" was based on that character.
By my count I've read at least 17 of his books and that's not even close to half of what he has written.
I've never read any of his westerns though.
That's probably going to be a worthwhile upcoming project.

Timothy Olyphant - Deadwood - David Milch - Elmore Leonard - Justified.
Seams to be a common thread of quality here.

My dad has read every Elmore Leonard book he can get his hands on and he loves the show. It's everything you'd hope it would be.

Is "Raylan" the one he wrote in the wake of Justified's basic cable success?

The character has been around for a while. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justified_(TV_series))

QuoteJustified is an American television drama series developed by Graham Yost. It is based on Elmore Leonard's novels Pronto and Riding the Rap and his short story "Fire in the Hole".

I know the show was based on an existing character. I also know that Leonard wrote more stories for the character since Justified debuted. "Raylan" is the latter, right?
