A 22-year-old Lebanese Man has been arrested for trying to bomb Slugger's and the surrounding area Saturday night/Sunday morning. (http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2010/09/fbi-man-arrested-in-plot-to-bomb-wrigleyville.html) Slugger's, of course, was the site of Apex v. Steve Garvey's portrait.

I was there a couple of days afterword. They took out the glass from the picture. I was tempted to swipe it, but I figured it would be a bad idea to get tossed in jail while I was on mid-tour leave.

Alas, no.
"Sami Samir Hassoun, 22, of the 4700 block of North Kedzie Avenue, was arrested as he placed a backpack containing what he thought were high-explosives in a trash can in front of Sluggers on Clark Street, about a block south of Wrigley Field, according to the FBI."
But the G men came close: "'He was acting alone,' said Robert Grant, head of the FBI's office in Chicago. '
He was not, I would say, highly skilled but definitely desirous of finding the material he needed to carry out his attack.'"

The description "highly skilled" was the tipoff it wasn't Weebs?
The guy's motivation was to expose how unsecure the city was and force Daley's ouster. According to the complaint the planning started in the spring. He apparently wasn't keen on killing too many people, but then decided some casualties would be necessary to show how ineffective Daley is.
But, wouldn't you abort once you heard the news Daley was not running for re-election?

Ah ah ah, the quote was "not...highly skilled." So, no, that was not the tip off, but the guy's name was.
And like I just said to TEC in the SBox, I take solace in the fact that some of the world's dumbest criminals live in the United States of America.
ISA! ISA! ISA!
This is truly horrifying considering that the streets of Wrigleyville were filled with thousands of Dave Matthews Band fans on Saturday night - which means that the neighborhood was even whiter than your typical Cubs/Brewers tilt. Oh the humanity.
Fucking Cardinal fans.
Too bad the stadium didn't get blowed up

You mean Favre? Because if he were American he'd have the R before the V, but he doesn't. Means his parents or somethin' weren't originally speakers of God's language, English. Scientists have proven this, as it's the language my Bible is written in.

Perhaps. Personally, I tend to hate bad players who are in Chicago more than I hate players (good or bad) from other cities. There are a slew of recent Cubs and 90's era Bears that are far worse than Favre in my book.
That said, Farve would certainly be up there on the list of detestable non-Chicago athletes.

How many times per year do you watch Favre? How many times do you watch Soriano?
You also have to discern between hate of the player's performance and hate of their personality. Soriano is the former. Farve is the later type.

Same. Soriano doesn't inspire any hatred in me. He plays his game and he never makes an excuse. He's never in the media for reasons other than baseball related activity. I like Alf, in fact. Comparing him to Favre is like comparing a sandwich that needs a little more mustard to the Gulf Oil Spill.

How many times per year do you watch Favre? How many times do you watch Soriano?
I've probably already seen more of Favre on my TV this year than Soriano and we've only just finished Week 2.

Comparing [Soriano] to Favre is like comparing a sandwich that needs a little more mustard to the Gulf Oil Spill.

I could name 100 players that played for the Cubs in the last 15 years that I hated worse than Soriano. Honest.
Such a list (http://hirejimessian.com/the-bottom-126/) already exists.
I just wish there was a list of players from other teams that have killed the Cubs over the years.
