Today's installment of "Tribune Mushbrains" is brought to you by KC Johnson:

QuoteWhile Utah is gauging the trade market on Boozer, trading Hinrich from a thin backcourt without getting a guard in return makes little sense.

I couldn't agree more, KC. Trading your backup point guard who is owed $26.5 million through 2012 for a legitimate 20-10 power forward is a terrible idea UNLESS you get the Jazz to throw in Brevin Knight. Then, and only then, would such a deal make sense.

DPD for a Groucho buzzkill.

QuoteAs in the teams have "not" discussed a deal, and there have "not" been substantive talks.

I have checked this out thoroughly and am convinced there never have been discussions about any such deal. There's a theory going around that the Trailblazers have been putting out the false leaks (you'll notice they make out well in all the scenarios without much detail of what they give up) because of pressure they've been getting in Portland over losing out on Hedo Turkoglu after they said they would sign him.

Looks like Ivy6 sniffed this one out before Groucho.  Well done.

The Bulls have signed 38-year-old guard Lindsey Hunter to a one-year contract for the veteran's minimum of $1.3 million.
Jannero Pargo just signed a similar deal, as the Bulls look to fortify their backcourt after the departure of Ben Gordon. Chicago's unwillingness to offer long-term contracts indicates they might trade someone (probably Kirk Hinrich) to free up cap space in 2010.

If the Bulls' plan is to clear cap space and really shoot for 2010, they should do more than unload Kirk's contract.  I'd love to see them try to get Tracy McGrady and his $23 million expiring contract, because if they're going to go for it, they might as well really go for it.  Just freeing up Kirk's money up may not be enough to get a max FA.

They could even let Derrick Rose keep his number.

That would be so poetic.  Trade for McGrady, who they failed to sign to a max deal in 2000, mainly for his expiring contract.  Then, in turn, fail to use that space to sign a would-be megastar to a max deal 10 years later.

Just wanted to let you thread-readers know that Taj Gibson, the Bulls 24-year-old rookie, has committed 19 fouls in two summer league games (you can't foul out in summer league).

I'm seriously impressed.

Actually, I think there is a 10 foul and you're out rule.

That's true.  I forgot about it since it so rarely happens.

So far, Taj is averaging about 13 fouls per 36 minutes.

What's impressive is that he had the wherewithal to save that last foul to stay in a game.

Anthony Randolph of MY Golden State Warriors dropped a big 4-Deuce on your Bulls.  That hasn't been done since Von Wafer.  He couldn't have done it without STEPH CURRY runnin' the pick-and-roll(I don't really know anything that's going on in summer league games).

There's still room on the bandwagon, fellas.  Join me!  CT's already sittin' beside me.  We just split a funnel cake.  He's got some powdered sugar on his shirt, but I'm NOT TELLING!  Shhhhh...don't you say a word.
Can you help me live a little more?  I expect good news.
