Currently at 67 walks and 62 strikeouts for the season. I saw somewhere this morning (can't remember where) that no Cub has his 30 HR with more walks than strikeouts since Billy Williams in the year he got fucked out of the MVP.

Not sure but back on topic for a sec--until now I hadn't actually seen Rizzo's first HR on Saturday.  Kind of sweet that it followed a two-out, opposite field single by Starlin, and way awesome that he nearly hit out on to Sheffield-- a more difficult task than reaching the streets in left-- but I confess to being slightly uncomfortable with his pose/strut.  I mean, I don't mind rooting for a douche if it means a championship, but given a choice, I'd likelike for my guys not to be douches.  Tell me what a prick I'm being.

Some pretty good takes from early on in this thread.

For being so hyper-sensitive to Tony Ballgame showing any emotion back then, I'm thinking of officially changing my name to "Prick".

Well-earned.  I'd struggle to think of the last time I heard a take that badly wrong.  It's almost beautiful in its wrongness.

Him screaming "RESPECT ME" at the Nats dugout because he was insulted they even dared to pitch to him was great.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

I mean it'd have been cooler if he'd hit a rope there to justify the RAGE a little more but it was the third time Rizzo delivered with 1st base open if I'm not mistaken?

Eldest Murton and I were watching. "Dusty's not going to pitch to Bryant with first base open and a runner on second, is he?"

He did.

"OK, we get it. He's going to pitch to Bryant. If he gets Bryant out, he's going to walk Rizzo to avoid the lefty/righty matchup and save a pitcher."

He didn't.

Kudos to Tony Baseball on winning the Roberto Clemente Award.

Unrelated: will/should they extend/re-negotiate his deal? He makes $7M next year, $12M in 2019, plus two team options at $16.5M. It's great to have a player making a third or so of what he's worth to offset Heyward, etc., but I'd positive re-working the deal to bring him more in line with what he should be making.

That sounds great in a vacuum. Not so great when you consider all the other guys who will start seeing significant raises as arbitration and eventually free agency comes along.

I mean the entire reason the Cubs are expected to be World Series contenders for years to come is all of the surplus value that comes from having position players worth millions under team control for pennies on the dollar, but if we want to live in a fantasy land where teams do things like that out of goodwill, sure.
