CHICAGO -- The Cubs could be changing. Then again, Ryan Dempster tweeted that nothing has changed.

According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, the Cubs reportedly have agreed to trade the popular pitcher, who leads the Majors with a 2.11 ERA, to the Braves for young right-hander Randall Delgado. Cubs officials would not confirm the report and said no announcement was scheduled.

Dempster denied a deal on his Twitter (@RyanDempsterFDN): "THERE IS NO TRADE dont know where this info came from!"

Dempster entered the Cubs' clubhouse at PNC Park on Monday afternoon and declined to discuss the report.

So... No new info whatsoever.

Because he's standing in the way of us getting a really solid pitching prospect from a team that does nothing but produce such prospects?  Because he's never pitched well in big situations for the Cubs?

The headline merely says the same thing as the article: that sources say there's a trade on and that Dempster says that this is wrong.

If anyone willing to talk knows that Dempster himself is the only thing preventing the still-only-rumored trade from coming to fruition, I suspect they'd probably say as much. As it stands, there's only speculation.

It wasn't even all that. All it was was a headline that simply quoted that Dempster tweet.

Dempster said "no trade" not to Cubs brass asking him to approve a move, but to anyone with an internet connection.

CFiHP misread it.

While we're at it, though, here's another quote that adds virtually nothing substantial to what we know:

It seems the rumor mill at the very least jumped the gun.
