The season doesn't officially start until E-ramis sends the Wrigley throng home happy.

2007 he tells the Brewers that their 7 game lead in June means nothing.

2008 D-Lee and E-ramis go back to back to tie, and then walk-off a game against the White Sox.

Yesterday.

Attention, Best Fans in Baseball...

Hope you enjoyed your time atop the NL Central.

We've got this from here.

And this time we mean it!
"So, this old man comes over to us and starts ragging on us to get down from there and really not being mean. Well, being a drunk gnome, I started yelling at teh guy... like really loudly."

On  one of these threads Tonk wrote that he was going on vacation and the Cubs always tanked when he was not around to keep an eye on them.  I don't know if Tonk is gone right now, but if he is tell him to stay away.
If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)

He's already on the other side of the planet.

I say we launch his ass into orbit.

Bump for the team with the best record in MLB since the All-Star break.

And yes, buzzkilling a-holes, I know...
Washington, Philly, Cinci, Houston, Florida, Cinci.

Still...13-5.

I can't believe I even know these people. I'm ashamed of my internet life.

Theriot's the only regular with an OPS under .800 since the break, and Ramirez, Fox, Lee, Fukudome, and Awfulonso are all over 1.000. I'm guessing Soto will be able to best Koyie's .523 OPS when he returns this weekend.

Pitching-wise, almost everyone has been sploogeworthy, except for PANKHeilmarja's problems with dong prevention.

[Weebs]Going forward, this team has a good chance to score more runs than the opponent in the majority of their games.[/Weebs]

The only teams in the league with more wins than the Cubs since June 1 are the Giants (33) and the Rockies (37).

Since May 1, the Cardinals are 43-44.  Yes, quite the juggernaut there in Missourah.  How will the Cubs ever hold them off?

But now they've got Matt Holliday and Julio Lugo and DeRo the HeRo!  OMG!!!!1111!!!

In all seriousness, I'm enjoying the fact that Holliday and Lugo have combined to go something like 55-for-80 with 30 homeruns or some such shit while St. Louis loses ground.  Wait till those buttholes cool off.
I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

DeRosa's hitting .208 for the Cardinals.

The last time Lugo was traded to a "contender" was in 2006 with the Dodgers.  He had hits in five of his first six games with three RBI's.  He went on to hit .219 in 49 games with the Dodgers and post an awesome OPS of .545.

And Holliday is bald.

DeRosa's hitting .208 for the Cardinals.

They might take that if he keeps homering every 10 at bats.

Looks like DeRosa is now in full swing with the LaRussa HGH program.

Like he was ever off it.  1 homer every 63 plate appearances until he got to Texas.  1 every 32 since.

There is nothing joyful or positive about this.

Apparently Miles will be brought up tomorrow and Stevens or the younger, crappy Notre Dame pitcher will be sent down to make room for the guy with a .566 OPS at AAA.
