Title: OMG! THE NEXT GM IS TOTALLY RUINING THE CUBBIEZ TRADITION FOREVER!!!1!1!
Post by: Brownie on October 05, 2011, 10:12:10 AM
I found this (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1125351/1/index.htm) as Eric Zorn linked to it highlighting a great line from recently deceased columnist Steve Daley ("There is no offseason in Chicago. It is only when the teams stop playing that the fans lose interest.")

Anyway, it's an enjoyable read from Ron Fimrite on the RADICAL CHANGES Dallas Green is making, and ALL THE PHILLIES he brought over. I'm sure we'll hear much of the same when Theo Epstein and Terry Francona bring over a bunch of Red Sox.

Any Yellonesque asswipes who were decrying Green's "Building a New Tradition" in 1982 should have been rounded up and summarily shot.  Green's arrival was one of the only bright, smart moves this franchise has made in the last 75 years.

Is Salty Saltwell still alive? He'd understand the old traditions!

It's because they weren't that I expect to hear the same cries over the next year.

Is Salty Saltwell still alive? He'd understand the old traditions!

He'd at least bring back Smoky Links.

Wouldn't be the same unless they exhumed the corpse of the Smokey Links "guy" and propped him up next to his stand.

Also, when did Steve Daley die?
