Title: Psych
Post by: Slaky on September 29, 2009, 12:05:55 PM
Couldn't find the Psych thread - I thought there was one. Does anyone still watch? This show is always good but Jules, aka Maggie Lawson, gets hotter and hotter every season.

I am a Dule Hill fan.  I first became aware of him in "West Wing".  Although he is a producer of  "Psych", he needs to find an appropriate vehicle, because in this one he is not only a second banana, sometimes his character comes off as Stepinfetchit. Although you wouldn't know it from West Wing or Psych,  he is an outstanding tap dancer.

There's always money in the banana stand.

This show kicks ass.

Much better than the overly serious rip-off that exists on one of the major networks and stars a guy who looks so naturally smug I want to smash in his face.

And no, I can't remember the name of the show, or even the network.

I like the one where every show on TV has a basic premise and follows it on a weekly basis because that's what makes them that show.

For instance, I hated the episode of Wheel of Fortune where contestants had to phrase their guesses in the form of a question.  "Are there any T's?"

They had a series of commercials like the one above airing for the show ripping on the Mentalist every week.  Then last week all of a sudden they stopped airing and CBS started buying time during Psych to air commercials for the Mentalist.

Anyway, great show.  Just a fun throw back to Columbo and other goofy whodunits I grew up watching.

This is one of the most creative threads that I have seen here, so I am interjecting some of my pedestrian buzzkill commentary.

Maybe because it is set in Santa Barbara and (except for Dule Hill) everyone on it is blond and/or blue eyed, middle class and WASP, it is one of the most white bread things that I have ever seen.  (Come to think of it, Roday claims to be Hispanic, but who would think it on this show?)

Also: I think CT must be referring to The Mentalist on (IIRC) CBS.

Smug face, and he wears vests.

Smug indeed.

Needed somewhere to post this...

http://hucksblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/sledgehammer-and-whore.html

... and this thread seemed relevant:

QuoteThe Mentalist isn't the best sex you've ever had, but it's also not likely to leave you to finish yourself off while your partner falls asleep to reruns of "Cheaters".

Read the whole damn thing.

It's not actually about the Mentalist. At least not mostly.

Edit:

No, really.

I know it's long. But don't give up before the hooker makes her appearance.

They finally wrote Dule's tap dancing into a script. That guy is good!

Racist.

Some of my best friends are tap dancers.
