Well, as long as JD is going to get the league started, may as well get this shit rollin'.
Incredibly early keeper list, subject to change and ridicule:
Round, Player
4. Curtis Granderson
7. Drew Storen
10. Madison Bumgarner
11. Carlos Santana
13. Corey Luebke (waivers)
14. Tommy Hanson
16. Scott Baker
18. Alex Gordon
21. Michael Pineda
22. Jesus Montero
24. Dustin Ackley
Round, Player...
4. Matt Cain
16. J.P. Arencibia
17. Wandy Rodriguez
22. Jason Vargas
23. Brett Jackson
My eyes almost melted after looking at the awful draft I had last year.
Can someone tell me my team?

Ackley would be a 23rd rounder for you. I put together a spreadsheet with draft positions in case anyone else finds it a bit easier to navigate than the Yahoo archive.

If somebody dropped out of this league, I'd like to grab their spot. If not...well, I didn't really want to anyway.

Per CD's handydandy spreadsheet, you're inheriting a team that looks something like:
7. Pablo Sandoval
8. Andrew McCutcheon
10. Clay Buchholz
11. Tim Hudson
12. Francisco Liriano
13. Doug Fister
19. Gio Gonzalez
22. Mike Minor
Nice work, Jim.
after finally signing up for this year, i saw the keeper option that yahoo now has. can we use that? does JD have to make it so when we click on a guy as a keeper, it'll designate what round he's kept in?

It looks like the draft order will still have to be edited manually after the keepers have been selected in order to set the proper rounds.
But using that might lighten the commissioner load at least somewhat.

No limit.
If the player you want to keep was drafted (by you or anyone else) last season, you keep him two rounds earlier than he was picked last year. If he was a free agent pick up, you can keep him in the 13th round.
If you have two keepers in the same round, you'll have to choose one to take a round earlier—doesn't matter which. Three keepers in the same round, bump one of your choice up one round, another up two rounds. Etc, etc, etc.
Hey... Simmer showed.
Time to lock down the league at 12 teams?
Thanks to JD and Hoseph for the reminders. When is the keeper deadline? I might as well do mine now, made easy thanks to ChuckD's awesome spreadsheet.
1 - Josh Hamilton
8 - Mike Stanton
9 - Daniel Hudson
23 - Eric Hosmer
I just finalized the teams list at 12 (sans LDA and Mr. Speed) and set the custom draft order, hoping we could get going on getting keepers slotted into place.
But it turns out that commissioners can't approve keeper picks that team owners make until after the keeper deadline (currently March 8) has passed anyways. So... no rush, I guess (though the keeper deadline could be moved up if everyone's ready before then).
And if those guys both materialize, I guess we could open it back up to 14 teams.

Ran into Mike D. in line at the Merchandise Mart restroom gloryhole McDonald's yesterday morning (although when he first approached me, I thought it was Heisenberg looking for his meth money) and he told me you guys were waiting on the Pulitzer's to check in. Slipped my mind. Have I mentioned that I'm a douche?
I have a two-week old at home, and work's brutal these days. I didn't do a very good job of managing my team last year...it's amazing I finished in the middle of the pack. You guys are probably better off without me. It sounds like others are interested...they'll provide more of a challenge.

I think we should still post them here, too, so everyone knows what round each keeper is being taken in.
Particularly, for teams with more than one keeper assigned to the same round.
I'm working on selecting my own keepers right now. In the meantime, this:

I'm working on selecting my own keepers right now. In the meantime, this:

10. Madison Bumgarner
11. Carlos Santana
12. Corey Luebke (waivers)
13. Jordan Zimmerman
14. Tommy Hanson
16. Scott Baker
18. Alex Gordon
20. Brett Myers
21. Michael Pineda
22. Jesus Montero
23. Dustin Ackley
11. Jeremy Hellickson
13. Sergio Romo
16. Brandon League
17. Asdrubal Cabrera
19. Dexter Fowler
I input some of the teams in already. Some I didn't. The changing team names and Desipio handles confounds a simple Southerner like myself.

All keepers posted in this thread so far appear to have been assigned within the draft. You can view them under "Draft Results".
Missing keepers at this point: Long Balls, Labor Bored and Canned Hamms.
Can someone explain the rule about keeping a free agent acquired during the course of last season? This is the only impediment to me finishing my keeper lists.

13th round if you picked someone up who wasn't initially drafted. However, if you picked up someone who had been drafted and then dropped, then you keep them in whatever round they were drafted in minus 2. Or plus 2. I don't know how you look at it. So, it's the 13th round if the player isn't listed in last season's draft results.

All keepers should be entered now.
You should all probably double-check your own picks here when you have a moment:

There must be something wrong, it says that Josh Hamilton is locked in as the 6th overall pick and Michael Young as the 20th.
Late to the party:

It isn't even 24 hours after I drafted Miguel Cabrera with the first pick in the draft, and he's already been hit in the face by a groundball.
