Title: That's one small corpse for man... one giant death for mankind
Post by: Brownie on August 25, 2012, 03:10:56 PM
Neil Armstrong. Neil with one L, not Ditka's predecessor who collected more Ls than the two in his name.

Frankly, this one doesn't deserve a silly title (although the one above is fine).  Neil was a hero in the truest sense of the word.  That he didn't turn into a fame whore as would have easily been possible is as big a credit to the man's character as was his willingness to risk his life in exploration.

A sad day for America and a sad day for the human race.

Well yeah, b/c he was a dumbshit and if he came out and talked and tried to be a "fame whore", the truth about not really landing on the moon and filming it in Hollywood would have come out.

A popular expression in our household during the bleak 1980 and 1981 seasons was that they had sent the wrong Neill (sic) Armstrong to the moon.

While Apollo 11 was all cool and shit, Gemini 8 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemini_8) was where Neil Armstrong proved he had gigantic steel balls.

On my one and only visit to Cape Canaveral, I was stopped by security on the way out. I was suspected of trying to smuggle out a Saturn V in my pants pocket.
