Ah fuck it. Have yourself a fun farewell season, Grandpa.

I hope his final game ends with him getting doused in champagne.

I'm a David Ross fan. Maybe it's just because I love that we finally have a guy who can execute a snap throw behind a runner on first a couple times per season. Those rule.

I look forward to a similar mea culpa about Soler later this season/next season.

He can get the bulk of the playing time over Montero for as long as he can handle it, as far I'm concerned. I was calling last night the Travis Wood game which is funny to me at least, but what Ross did was just as remarkable. What a season he's having. And they're so good offensively that his struggles at the plate don't really offset all the good work he's doing behind it.

Yeah, pretty good with at least a 50/50 split of the catching duties. Montero is just painful to watch at the plate right now, and he can't throw anymore. Let Grandpa play as long as he wants to, and by that I mean until Willson Contreras goes nuts in September like he's Geovany Soto in 2007 and eventually becomes the catcher for the playoffs. Except this time we'll make sure Oleg doesn't introduce him to the devil's tobacco.

Don't push your pro-weed agenda on me, not after seeing the horrible repercussions that a devastating marijuana addiction had on the promising career of young Geovany.

Struggles at the plate?  He's good for a .759 OPS, and is waiting by the phone for your apology.

How good is this (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/split.cgi?t=p&team=CHC&year=2016#catch::none)?

Second best catcher ERA in baseball behind Ross is A.J. Ellis at 2.42, and he catches Kershaw.

Also the best defense in the game. Which owes something to David Ross, so kudos. But catcher's ERA is dumb as hell, and it's something Cardinals fans throw out to prop up their ludicrous YADI FOR HOF campaign. So no.

Not sure why it needs to be tongue-in-cheek. I was a full-throated idiotic David Ross hater and he's owned my stupid fucking face this year and I deserve the rain of FYSKOS. I hope the whole fucking thing ends on a World Series clinching pick off throw from Grandpa.

I would be all for that, mostly to see Ross come out to the mound instead of the pitching coach whenever Lester runs into trouble.

I think a lot of us would love to see him coach somewhere for the Cubs, but he said he wants to take at least a year off to spend with his family. It'd be cool if they could get him to be at least a ST instructor.

That has to be the single dumbest attempt to psyche out an opponent I've ever seen. I get fans of many teams trying to remind the Cubs of their past failures as if it matters, but Cleveland? Did I hallucinate Jose Mesa shitting his pants in 1997?

His Dancing With the Stars routine was like torture. I felt embarrassment just watching it. I hope he wins.

Ummmm...it was actually a really good quickstep. His footwork was good and he kept a steady frame.

Is GM Fork pulling a Paul DePodesta and expanding into new sports?

Fork loves to talk DWS and dancing every chance he gets these days.

Fork is definitely a far more credible source of analysis on ballroom dancing than he is on any of the sportsballs. Which is to say maybe just find something better to do with your time anyway

At first I threw my head back in laughter when I read this classic sample of DryEli, and then I quickly thought it was maybe DryButSeriousEli that was making an appearance.  It can be hard to tell.

Either way--an ELI POST!

Fork responding to Kurt's post with a "scout's eye" dancing critique is li-tra-ly the most predictable thing that has ever happened since I've been coming to this website.

I literally just finished writing a critique on that very routine.

Now some Cubs podcast wants me to come on each week that Ross dances to offer expert analysis. I'll probably just talk about how fucking hot Sharna Burgess is.

I guess this place really is dead.

No posts/commentary on Ross as manager?

The inexperience doesn't worry me. I just want the Cubs to utilize every possible advantage, especially advanced statistics, and I have zero idea as to whether or not Ross will do that. However, I trust the front office, so long as they aren't signing free agents to massive contracts, since most of those have been kind of busty.

Wait, are the Cubs signing those two models who whipped their tits out the other night?

Although there are a number of well qualified candidates, the popular and sentimental choice in my opinion, is David Ross.  On the basis of experience he is the least qualified of the announced candidates, although a veteran catcher does do a lot of coaching when the opposing team is batting.  I am ok with anyone who has no ties to St. Louis.

1. Hopefully.
2. I kind of feel the idea of communicating the analytics to the players probably came up in the interview.
