Ali used to be a patron of the late, lamented University Gardens (http://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?p=236658#p236658) restaurant on 53rd. I distinctly remember spending hours there with a fellow I knew after he got some sort of tip that Ali might be lunching there. No soap, but it ranks ahead of the time I waited in line in the hopes of getting Julia Child to autograph my copy of Secrets of Meat Curing and Sausage Making* in terms of eager anticipation.
* Seriously, make people buy the new book before letting them check in to the line if you're going to be that way at the gate.
