OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Since we don't care enough anymore to have individual game threads, let's complain, commiserate, and celebrate what happens from week to week here.  (or not, do what you want.)

Time for the Bears to start gashing Wolfman Rob's hyped-up defense.

Anyone listen to them? I really liked Passive Me Aggressive You and the new one, In Rolling Waves, really grows on you the more you listen to it. Hearts Like Ours, The Mess, I Kill Giants, and What We Want are standouts but it's a solid album throughout.

She looks kinda cute. Think she'd like someone to mend her lost heart?

Like, how old are you?  Ohmagawd.

Obviously I'm going to see this movie for Aubrey Plaza. Set in 1993 in Boise, long before the great wind from Kris Bryant's swinging strikeouts arrived, get ready for some silly Hillary Clinton and Rush Limbaugh references.  Aubrey's dad is a judge, as you'll constantly be reminded, and a smoking-hot Rachel Bilson and sex-positive mom complete Aubrey's family. It's a very frank, empowering, 'awkward nerd's sexually blooming' tale from a female's perspective. Alia Shawkat plays a character on the Cedar Rapids side of the Alia Shawkat Cedar Rapids-Arrested Development Spectrum. It's not laugh out loud funny the whole time, opting instead for consistently humorous with occasional LOLs. I liked it, but then again Aubrey could eat poop and I'd find something good to say about it.

Documentary about baseball in the Dominican Republic.  Many of you have probably seen it but this was my first. Seeing Sano wearing all Cubs clothes at one point makes you wonder what it would be like to have Almora, Baez, Sano, Soler, and (assuming he signs) Bryant all in the MLB Top 50.  Also interesting to hear Jose Serra basically admit that he loved Sano's game but the Cubs wouldn't spend all their money on one player at that time.  I bet Theo would now.  And, bonus: It'll give you another reason to hate the Pirates!

Caught this on Netflix randomly a few months back, and a whim to watch it again just came to me.  This is a cute little movie that I really enjoyed.  It was a pleasant surprise.  Definitely not MANLY GUNS ACTION DEATH HURR HURR fare, at all, so if that's what you want stay away.  It's an indie-film character study.

Then again, I have a completely pointless crush on Aubrey Plaza so obviously I'm going to love this movie.  If you hate her character on Parks and Rec you'll probably hate this.  But, if you like her, you'll like this.  And it has Jake Johnson from New Girl, a.k.a. the Funniest Show You're Not Watching (suck it, haterzz).  Finally if you ever wanted to know what Chloe from 24 would be like as a Devil Wears Prada type, congratulations because you're in luck.

The Dead Pool / A Hasty Resignation
June 18, 2013, 07:48:49 PM
Michael Hastings, 33, whose Rolling Stone profile led to Gen. McChrystal's resignation, killed in a single-car crash in Los Angeles.

Speaking of that profile, by the way...

QuoteThe night after his speech in Paris, McChrystal and his staff head to Kitty O'Shea's, an Irish pub catering to tourists, around the corner from the hotel.

The Dead Pool / Chief suspect
December 01, 2012, 10:26:37 AM
Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, 25, has allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, traveled to the team facility, and committed suicide in front of GM Scott Pioli and Head Coach Romeo Crennel.  This sucks worse than the Chiefs.

Quote
Police Capt. David Lindaman said Belcher, 25, and his girlfriend, 22, got into an argument around 7 a.m. at their home in the 5400 block of Crysler Avenue in Kansas City. Around 7:50 a.m., Lindaman said, Belcher shot his girlfriend multiple times. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Lindaman said Belcher’s mother, who was visiting the couple and their 3-month-old daughter, witnessed the shooting and was being interviewed by police.

Quote
Police were called to the stadium around 8:10 a.m. When Belcher arrived there he encountered General Manager Scott Pioli, Coach Romeo Crennel and other team personnel. Police said Chiefs staff attempted to keep Belcher from committing additional acts of violence. When police arrived, they heard a gunshot and found that Belcher had shot himself in the head.

Denzel is terrific.  Nadine Velazquez has a perfect body, which you will get an extended look at.  The crash sequence (based on a real Alaska Airlines crash) is really well done.  Some reviewers are calling the rest of the movie "an advertisement for AA" but I didn't.  I'm no Stew, so this is all I've got.

Sorry if I'm skirting the rules of these parts but we should probably keep homolibland which is full of gay hippie pothead surfers separate from real American blue collar Chicago broad-shoulders who eat sausage and various other real American foodstuffs while having sex with girls. Either that or TIME TO POST!

So anyway, Pen/everyone: Where should I eat, at least until I'm a billionaire? What's this Tin Fish I've heard about? And so forth.

QuoteUnsaid: "If the Giants offer Cain, Bumgarner and Lincecum, you can kiss Starlin's Afro-Dominican ass goodbye."

Since Epstoyer might finally fulfill my lifelong dream that the Cubs TRADE EVERYONE, let's separate that hope from the nutpunch Cubs thread.

Cubs trade Starlin Castro to SF for Theriot and Pagan and a wrong to be righted later. Or not.
