OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

QuoteCINCINNATI (TICKER) —Houston Astros left fielder Carlos Lee, who likely will miss the rest of the season with a broken left pinky, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday.

Lee suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds and is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks. It is a huge blow for the Astros as the slugging outfielder leads the National League with 100 RBI.

Finally, we've found a way to stop Lee from killing the Cubs.

Well, more like the Reds found a way to keep Lee from killing the Cubs.  Thanks, Dusty?

I love Joshua.

It's been everyone's go-to visual non sequitur for years, but I didn't know it made its way to Desipio.

Eventually, everything does from Desipio makes its way everywhere else.

I put it on a tee and you guys hit it out of the park.  Well done.

Okay, Marquis has qualified for what should be his last Cub win.  Get maybe one more inning out of him (or don't, off day tomorrow) and give him a goodbye that Stevie Ire wishes he could've had.

Is it worth $316 to come back to Chicago for the weekend and attend the rooftop game?  Plus whatever getting hammered with all of you Saturday night would run?  I'm kinda thinking yes.

I'm making the trip from Ogden.  The answer is yes, Efemale Ogden

Overrun Desipio Joke'd.

Even more old school'd.

The Deadbirds turn a 1-run lead with 2-out in the 8th into a 3-run deficit after hits by Utley, Howard, Burrell and a 3-run dong by a pinch-hitting Shane Victorino.  The Tards' pen sucks as bad--or even more--than the Brewers.  Which says a lot.

And then the Tards get within one and load the bases against Lidge, and Lidge works out of it to preserve a 5-4 win.  And the Brewers get shutout too.  Bonus.

So I totally want to be there, but I have to work on Monday and RT flights from Minny to Chicago are at $800, and a one-way back on Monday morning (even if I left my car in Chicago for a week) are $400, which is a lot to pay to get back to work on time and to be able to get shitfaced on all-you-can-drink booze.

If it were a weekend later, I'd be golden.  Bummer.

Wow, Marquis can't even get the ubiquitous Jason Michaels and Andy LaRoche out...and another Marquis HBP scores.  And Jack Wilson ropes an RBI single too.

Seriously, Marquis' career as a Cub needs to be euthanized after this outing.

Again, not fair. Marquis may be a joke compared to the Cubs' other 4 starters, but he gives up 3 runs in 6 IP, there's nothing wrong with that for a #5 starting pitcher.

I was anticipating it getting uglier.  He actually got out of a few jams.  And he would turn in a performance good enough to win, when we don't score.  Asshole.

I'm still on board with axing this guy.

Yesterday would have been a 15-12 game if you had the 2000 Cubs staff. Marquis didn't have great stuff, but he lasted 6 innings. He's strung together some decent starts. He might have some value yet.  The next couple days could be, um, interesting.

The thing that was frustrating about this whole series is that the pitching staff had Chlamydia er Hermida or whatever you'd want to call that rare form of STD the first few games...and then it was one hitter that did virtually all the damage to Marquis (with the help of BB's and a HBP).

Sure, hitters get in grooves, but it also seems to reflect a total lack of preparation/clue to get someone out when you're handling 7 guys to only get smoked by the 8th.  Repeatedly.

And with an erratic offense, any chance we can pin some of that on poor advance scouting?  Seems to me that might explain a lot, from both sides of the ball.
