OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Sorry guys.   I'm a douche.

Ran into Mike D. in line at the Merchandise Mart restroom gloryhole McDonald's yesterday morning (although when he first approached me, I thought it was Heisenberg looking for his meth money) and he told me you guys were waiting on the Pulitzer's to check in.   Slipped my mind.  Have I mentioned that I'm a douche?

I have a two-week old at home, and work's brutal these days.  I didn't do a very good job of managing my team last year...it's amazing I finished in the middle of the pack.  You guys are probably better off without me.  It sounds like others are interested...they'll provide more of a challenge.

Adam Archuleta's tenure in the secondary was pretty disgusting.

However, I would probably agree that Omiyale is worse.

I'll miss him. He was always truly entertaining. When he drafted Darius Heyward-Bey with the 7th overall pick I laughed harder than I had in years.

Yea, that was strong.   As was the Lane Kiffin termination presser.

DPD.  Apparently Jim thinks Zambrano is serious about retiring, in which case there will be no contract to eat.

And by extension, would arguably make this the best night the Chicago Cubs have had since September 2008.

Well, I also found this link and copied it onto the comment under his article.

I feel some type of ban coming my direction.  Damn me and my facts.

Today, Pollyellon provided this nugget in a blog entry about managers who resigned "shockingly".

http://mlb.sbnation.com/2011/6/23/2240084/jim-riggleman-resigns-washington-nationals-news-five-shocking-managerial-resignations

"June 1991, Don Zimmer, Chicago Cubs: Zimmer's Cubs were struggling, two years past the time when he led them to the NL East title. In a move presaging Riggleman's, Zimmer demanded to know his contract status from GM Jim Frey -- one of Zim's predecessors as Cubs' manager. Frey, who was out of his element in the front office, dithered, and so Zimmer resigned with the team record 18-19. Though he coached for several teams for years after that, he never managed again. His replacement, Jim Essian, finished the 1991 season -- and also never managed in the majors again. Slogan: "The Cubs managing job: get it, and it'll be your last."

Now 20 years has a way of deteriorating brain cells.  But does anyone here recall Zimmer going away as part of a  "shocking resignation"?  And wasn't it in May of 1991, and not June?

Am I drunk here?  Or is Al just being Al?

In my opinion, the Kim/Ray J video is required watching before forming an opinion on this.  If you watch that, and then continue to besmirch her or her significant talent...you should be forced to go on tour with Fork's people.

Gabe Carimi was a damn pick at #29. I am not at all pleased that the Lions drafted Fairley. That interior D-Line is now ubermegafuckingterrifying. Jake Locker was the dumbest pick of the night. Followed closely by Newton.

What about Ponder?  Wasn't he benched by FSU at some point this year?

My guy??

And for those keeping score from the debate that occurred last fall, that's three rounds ahead of Sir Armcock.  The bad news, is that we won't see Mallett take meaningful snaps unless Ladywig gets hurt.

Yeah, Mallett's character concerns and lack of mobility dropped him big time. I don't believe the argument was ever about where each would get drafted. Just who would be better. I'd say Armcock going to the Pats guarantees him a successful career.

Mallett's character concerns were overblown and had as much to do with him talking "wigger"-ish as the public intox and marijuana rumors.  I guarantee almost every white football player in Texarkana has a similar accent to Mallett.  Plus, some people in his family have some weird Cajun-ish accent thing going on.  Mallett was the leader on that Razorbacks team from the moment he joined the program.  He got in trouble once when he was at Arkansas.  Character concerns, my booty.  People didn't like how he talked.  That's where it all came from.

I can never tell when you're joking.  I hope this is one of those times.

He was a reputed pain in the ass at Michigan.  The guy has significant accuracy issues that seem to come in spurts, and often appeared at bad times in big games.  These teams also do personal interviews at the combine.  Neither you or I know what occurred there.

If you think that a "stupid sounding accent" really makes that much difference, then Peyton Manning would have been taken in the 6th round.

Boy...when I look back at my 2010 draft, pretty easy to figure out why my team sucked lamb testicles.

I will keep...

5th round (selected 7th last season) - Joey Votto
17th round (selected 19th last season) - Rickie Weeks
18th round (selected 20th last season) - Chris Young

So shut your lip, drink your Miller Lite and beat off to your Baseball Prospectus pinup calendar.

I only do that on Tuesdays.

And Thursdays.

I guess I'm going to be optimistic and say that I'd hope for a higher ceiling from our top pitching prospect than a future career record of 2 under .500 and an ERA just short of 4....but would accept that if it's what Archer were to have eventually produced.  Perhaps that's foolish given Hendry's history of developing arms....not sure.

I'm not trying to short Garza.  But to this point, he hasn't exactly been an ace.  He has 5 years worth of MLB data at this point....so I'm not compelled by what his minor league numbers were.  They sort of don't matter at this point.
