OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

1990 was the first year I had season tickets.  I was going to stop at 2004 which may have been my least favorite team but Kerm and IAN already were expecting that so I'll stop here.

Also, Mary McDonnell is one of the best-looking 50+-year-olds out there.
She's so damn good in this show I find myself forgetting about how good she looks and just enjoying her performance.  And if you think she's good in season 1, just wait.

Actually, that was one of the few moments of that season that I did see coming.

Regardless, the opening montage of that episode, especially the boxing Adamas, was as good as filmmaking gets.

Remember that when you get to the next boxing episode.

I'm just trolling for that Brewer fan and his rear view mirror.

I knew it!

Now, if I can get a "The whole site is an elaborate ruse" out of NSBB's "Tim," my work here will be done.

Hehehe.....Milwaukee bullpen is the gift that keeps on giving, for three years running now. Thanks, guys!!
So, let's call Hendry (or have the dimbulb at NSBB do it for us) and tell him to call Milwaukee next week (when they are 9 back) and get CC for the Cubs right now.  They won't be needing him.  Give them Hoffpower and Cubs get CC.  Beats the value they'll get for CC in October.

Chuck, does Oleg know you have his stash?

And one other caveat: If you push it too much and withhold too much, you will pay a penalty for underpayment. We ended up paying a $50 'fine' for underpayment because my wife made too much money at her side job (which doesn't withhold a dime from her checks as an independent contractor) and we ignored our accountant's advice to make additional payments to the good ol' IRS last year.
Right. That's bad. Okay. All right.  Important safety tip.  Thanks, Egon.

I've got a boring-ass tax question for those people who know about that sort of thing.

I got greedy and left the non-profit world for a better-paying jorb, and I need to fill out my W-4.  For my allowances, I've always just taken 1 (I'm unmarried).  While I like getting a refund each year, I was reading that it's better to take more allowances so I can get that money spread out over the rest of the year, even if it means I have to pay in a little extra come tax time. Their point was that the government doesn't pay interest on that money withheld, so why should they get to hang onto it for a year?

Does that even make sense?  Can I even take more allowances?  Any advice is appreciated.

I hate financial stuff.
A tax refund means the government had more of your money than it was supposed to have.  They accumulated the money all year and give it back to you when you file.  They pay no extra money to you for leaving it on deposit with them (i.e. no interest).

Should you increase allowances to get a larger paycheck but a smaller refund, or, perhaps even have to pay in April?  The question is this:

Do you have the budgeting skill to have a reserve so you can pay in April if you need to?  If the answer is yea, increase allowances.  If nay, take teh refund.

Isn't the Tribune Company a Delaware Corporation?

any DuPonts want to buy the Cubs?
No, but back in 1988, Pete DuPont told me that the answer to high school drug use was mandatory drug testing for high school students.

He told me this at a bar in Iowa City.  How he ever missed out on being president still confounds.

The Fieldhouse?
Believe it or not, Dooley's.  I think it's now called One Eyed Jakes.

He wasn't exactly drawing big crowds.

Star Wars plus the Matrix with some Kill Bill and a hint of Office Space.

On the plus, the action and plot was so ridiculously over the top it was silly.  A very fun silly.

On the minus, the two best looking hings in the movie were wasted.  Angelina "now-waify-and-no-longer-voluptuous" Jolie does nothing other than flash her tattooed ass for half a second.  And Chicago is wasted as a backdrop.  Granted only the Fugitive and Blues Brothers have really used the city effectively.

Although it was fun to see Mr. Tumnus use the ATM just south of Wrigley.

Say what you want about Hendry, but no Cubs' FA that Hendry has wanted to stay here hasn't stayed.

Wood ain't going anywhere.
But Hendry is.  The probability is that Hendry won't be the one negotiating any extension with Wood.

Now that the BCB fatwa has been issued, what's the over-under on AL YELLON threatening a personal boycott (and all of the tremendous leverage such a threat would bring to bear) against Morgan and SBN until they comply with AL YELLON'S wishes?

I'm saying 9.5, minimum.
Boycotts don't work.
