OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Mike D.  lasted 16 monhs.
Huey lasted 12 months.
DIF has lasted 7 months.

Christ, it looks like I've been wasting MORE time at this place, not less.

It's all good.  This is definitely the finest collection of douchebags that I have had the pleasure of wasting time with.  Thanks to this weird social network that Andy Dolan has inadvertently created, I have had the chance to meet quite a few of you to drink beer, eat Chunky Bars, play softball, and go to Cubs games--in fact, I am 4-0 at Wrigley when with a Desipio crowd, so we must be doing something right.  I'd say that what we have in common is that we're Cub fans but it's obviously more than that, as I'd rather pull my scrotum over my head than hang out with some of the creepy bastards at, say, BCB or NSBB.   It's the jaded sensibility, I think.  That, and the fact that we're not a bunch of insecure closet cases who live below sea level.

While the self-congratulatory nature of this post is positively Deadspinesque, it's my last one so I am indulging myself.

5,724 posts.  Oh, how humiliating.

That's the dumbest of dumb reason to want Canning.  Because he's local?  The trib is local.

Except it's not:

Dennis J. FitzSimons
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
Tribune Company

A native of New York, born June 26, 1950

Donald C. Grenesko
Senior Vice President/Finance and Administration
Tribune Company

A Pittsburgh-area native, born October 31, 1948,

Crane H. Kenney
Senior Vice President/General Counsel and Secretary
Tribune Company

Born December 31, 1962, in Quincy, Mass.

None of these guys are local.

And not to stoop to Al’s level by even dignifying his stupidity, but it wouldn’t surprise me if all those jerkoffs were all schooled at private colleges out there.

Cuban at least went to IU.

And I'm a dope; Apex busted me.  Although Green was promoted to President at one point, yes I am aware he never owned the team.  I'll go take a timeout.

Will somebody please go over to BCB and remind that baldheaded douchebag that Dallas Green was born, raised and still lives in Delaware?  His main objection to Cuban is that he's "not local."  WTF?

I would go there myself, but I've never figured out Al's stupid registration process and thus have never been able to successfully log on.  I realize that, in retrospect, this is a blessing, but still...

Trib says that Cuban was sitting in the bleachers last night.  Guess he picked a pretty good game to watch.

QuoteThe Cubs retained their one-game lead over Milwaukee, while temporarily turning Wrigley Field into the world's biggest mosh pit.

"Well, that was exciting, huh?" manager Lou Piniella said.

A crowd of 39,075, including prospective owner Mark Cuban, who was watching from the right-field bleachers, would wholeheartedly agree.

Tiger Beat reporter Moronotti also had a nauseating rundown of his digital footsie with Cuban, as they were apparently IM'ing each other as the game was going on.   I'd link to it but, you know, it's Mariotti.   Find a Sun Times if you really want to read it.  I'd offer mine, but I've used the article to wipe my ass.

Splooge.

Kudos to Theriot for starting the inning off like a TRUE leadoff hitter.

Bipolar Dick Mountain takes to the mound tonight, he gets my positive. Last time out, he sucked, so if the pattern holds he should be the tits tonight. Let's see if the bums can get some fucken hits off of Cy Young pitching for the Trolls.

Hill makes me fear for my positive.  I hope I'm wrong but he's the pitching equvalent of the boy in the bubble--conditions have to be JUST right for him to excel.  Adversity?  Bad.  And pitching after a nut-punch like last night would count as an adverse condition.  He's not quite stopper material, and this team is almost desperate for a stop.

Again, I hope I'm wrong.

Dick's on the cell. He wants to apologize for rubbing out his coals on your sister's scalp. I told him you were cool with it.

If being wrong feels this good, mister, then I don't ever want to be right.

Or something.

WHY THE FUCK does genious Ned keep trotting out that steaming pile of mastadon dung? Oh wait, for prob the same reason that Lou did with OOOOman, no bullpen in the majors I can think of doesn't have some slapdick the likes of either of the douchebags I just mentioned. Thank god Turdthrow's on their team as every week at least he seems to soil himself and help us out.

Heh heh.

Now the Cubs have to win tonight to be tied for first and then win tomorrow to take a half game lead. No problem.

With Rich “The Anti-Stopper” Hill and Steve “I Wasn’t Even That Good Back When I Was Good” Trachsel going in said 2 games, what could possibly go wrong?

First of all it was 5 innings, not 6.  He made it into the 6th, whoop-de-damn-fucking doo, let's throw him a goddamn parade, even
though he failed to get a single out in that 6th inning.   If it weren’t for the Marmot, he would have given up more runs.  Hell, as it was, Marquis was on pace to give up over 7 runs for the game, which would mean if some of those hitters “sacked up” as you put it (because, you know, it’s a sign of how unmanly these guys are when they fail to hit a 500 foot homer with guys on base), they would have needed 8 runs to win.

Fuck Marquis and his sally-assed 5 inning outings.  Now is the time for everyone to step up, not just the hitters.

Besides, I thought you stopped watcing these gutless cocksuckers.

You know what though, it's still better than the alternative.

Yes, they're ordinary; probably more ordinary than the '98 Cubs.  Yes, at this rate, they'll get run out of the playoffs quicker than a Daryle Ward tenure on the basepaths.  Yes it's embarassing to maybe have to back in to one of the worst divisions ever.

But you know what's worse?  For me, at least, times like last year, when the division was just as shitty and the Cubs weren't even in it.  To flip through the channels in mid-September and stop on the Cubs game and watch Jock Jones flail away in a meaningless game, your bloid angering up with rage at yet another in a long, long line of seasons that were rendered moot by July, and that these assmunches who no longer give a fuck because they're out if it get to play ball in the sun and continue not giving a fuck.

This is painful.  Times like last night can make it hard to get to sleep on time.  You hate yourself for being so passionately involved with a bunch of jerkoffs over whom you have no control, and yet you're allowing them to dictate your happiness and anger, but it passes.  It always passes.  Unless you live at NSBB, I suppose.  Like I said earlier, we've lived through worse.  If they miss the playoffs we will really, really hate this team and will resume our offseason gnashing of teeth over how fucking angry we are at carrying a 99 year burden.  Until that happens, we just have to keep watching.

/end rant.

Have we recruited Apex for the Cody's softball team, yet?

We need a brotha on the team...you know, to play during the games when the sun is still out.

Cody's at Paulina and Barry?

Quality joint.

I'll be there tonight after my softball game.

We play in a summer league.  There's another team that Geno sponsors who got a fall league team together that I'm playing with.

I'm with Mike...the place is balls-out.  They even treat Brooklynites with class, don't they, Fork?  And that juke box?!?!?!?!   I love the place.

Like they have a cherse, er, choice...great place. Excellent food - they have an extensive array of take-out menus.

Art of Pizza (see:  Feedbag) is one block away, so you actually get some decent thin crust quickly.

$#%@!  I can't believe I kept watching this shit.

It's at times like these that I remind myself of Brant Brown's miss, how I nearly drove off the inbound Stevenson on my way home from work while listening to it as it happened, and that I still managed to wake up and work the next day.

Hell, we lived through the morning after Game 7 in '03, which was on the heels of a drawn-out, 24-hour nut-stomping.

This?  This ain't shit.  These cunts wanna hurt me, they'll have to try a bit harder.  Walk and walkoff triple.   Pfffffffft.  Big fucking deal.

Fuck you Dempster, you're a loser, and I get to go to bed tonight with my beautiful wife and wake up to my beautiful daughter, and you'll wake up the same, worthless loser that you've always been.  You, too, Marquis, you 5-inning schlub.  I'll be damned if I let you two clowns ruin my days.  I lived through Brant Brown, motherfuckers.

Fuck you.

I wish Carlos Marmol could pitch every inning of every game ever.

More wasted opportunities.  Backe should have given up around 6 runs in his five innings.
