Doesn't change that bitching about Coghlan is way more valid than bitching about Federowicz, but still, let the Welshman have his day.

Coghlan is a shitbucket, but the rest of the team is awesome enough to carry him.

I'm not sure an entire lineup of Babe Ruths can carry Federowicz.

.753 OPS since Coghlan came back.
He's no Federowicz.

Wow and that staggering 17 PA sample size (during which he's struck out 35% of the time anyway) has raised his season line all of the way up to .156/.228/.283. So yeah, his .511 OPS is better than Fed's .493. Bow to your hero.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

What about bitching about 2015 David Ross?

Bitching about 2015 David Ross was more acceptable than bitching about Fed because there were long stretches where the 2015 Cubs couldn't score and Ross took the roster spot of a catcher who hit 19 homers and had a .782 OPS. Ross has been markedly better in 2016, and the offense around him is good enough to carry him.

Granted, it was a fairly dumb thing to bitch about, but on the Dumb Scale it is still Less Dumb Than Bitching That Tim Federowicz is 4th on the organizational catcher depth chart.

Fedorowicz is bad but exactly how many major league quality backup catchers does Pen think most organizations have? Whoever replaced Fed would just be another 28 year old AAA catcher.

Is that fact that SKO posted this ironic? CT?

No and the fact that you think it might be simply reinforces what a failure my reign as Irony Czar has been.

How ironic.

Not as ironic as having an Irony Czar who doesn't seem to understand the concept of irony.

Not as ironic as you calling me out for not understanding the very thing that you do not understand yourself.

Sick burn, bro.

Likewise.

Jesus, really?

Okay, here we go.

Ironic: happening in a way contrary to what is expected, and typically causing wry amusement because of this.

So when SKO, who is famous round these parts for displaying a complete lack of reason, rationality or patience when it comes to even the least important roster spot on the Cubs, is suddenly telling somebody else in all seriousness to CHILL OUT BRO IT'S ONLY A BACKUP CATCHER...

...then that is, indeed, ironic.

You got me.  I don't read SKO's posts.  I mean who has the time?

Yeah but my point was that Coghlan was unnecessary given that they had better outfield options on the roster already, and at least if Almora isn't hitting he's a plus defender, whereas Coghlan is just ass all around. Federowicz was on the roster because they need an emergency catcher if Miguel's back flared up again and they didn't want to call up Contreras prematurely.

One guy has been handed like 60% of the starts in left field undeservedly, one guy was a replacement level player asked to be a backup to the backup.

Coghlan was a cheap LH bat, and a good hedge on their bet on Almora. They can launch him as soon as Soler and LaStella return if he still sucks.

My guess is that the Cubs believe whatever he lost in Oakland can be found in Chicago.

I know and understand and if drunk enough would admit to agreeing with the logic behind the Coghlan move. Doesn't change that he's a fuckwad and I hate him and his stupid face and he's a garbage player who likes garbage music and probably wears too much Axe body spray. I don't really care if Pen loves him, Coghlan can go fuck himself.

This isn't totally unreasonable. Coghlan now has nearly 1,000 PAs with the Cubs in which he's put up an OPS pretty close to .800. Over the rest of his career (almost 1,800 PAs) he's got an OPS barely over .700. Sometimes a player just clicks with a particular coaching staff or some other aspect of the team.
