Dusty and Ned in a cage match.

Quote"He was the freshest arm we had," said Yost, explaining his decision to call on Turnbow for the first time this season when the Brewers were not trailing.

"He hasn't been given much of an opportunity. We feel we'll need him to be a big part of the pen."

QuoteBaker didn't realize until Sunday that Patterson had been struggling so mightily on offense. He's hitless in his last 22 at-bats. In his last 11 games, he's 1-for-29.

"It didn't seem like that because he's not striking out. Most of the time when a guy is 0-for-something, he's got a bunch of punch-outs in there," Baker said.

Yes.  Dusty actually had no idea what Patterson was hitting.  He's really taken his managerial game to a new level with the Reds.

Unless Patterson starts clogging up the bases,  Dusty will never pay any attention to Corey's hitting.

Patterson doesn't clog the bases...he's fast. But I bet he knows exactly what Dunn is hitting.

Johnnie B. wins that particular session, IMO.

He seems to be implying that the guy who wins the batting title should usually be the guy with the fewest strikeouts.  That's really stupid.

Ned's logic has the possibility of making a little sense.  I don't follow the Brewers closely enough to know how spent his bullpen was.

It's almost time for someone to create www.extendnedyost.com

He's a blessing. If I ever run into him, he's getting a big hug from me.

I know Dusty gets a lot of the pub around here, and rightfully so...but Yost's recent bungling has been of the finest order.

LDA, you should know that they have 14 pitchers on their staff right now. How spent could it be?

The only good time to use Turnbow in a game is if the rest of the bullpen fails to show up for the game. Luckily for us Butchy doesn't think this way and uses Turnbow regularly.
