I nominate "The Fluffer" as Gagne's nickname.

Seriously, Butchie is more fun than a willing toothless midget. Without knowing anything else about the game, I know Gagne's dragging his arm behind him.

I'm beginning to wonder if my 10-game prediction was pessimistic.

My fear is that Yost is going to hurt Gagne and the Brewers will be deprived of his services.

Well there's always Turd to fill in for him as the closer. I just hope hope that Gagne continues to hurt the Brewers for the rest of the year.

DPD.

Right after he scores gaming winning run Gabe is sent packing.

QuoteIn a quick, surprise move, the Brewers have traded outfielder Gabe Gross to the Rays for 23-year-old Class-A right hander Josh Butler. There is no word on Tampa Bay's roster move to make room for Gross, who can play all three outfield positions. Presumably, it will be Justin Ruggiano, but I suppose it could be Nathan Haynes.

Gross has 48 plate appearances in the young season, but is hitting only .179/.303/.205. That's just extra base hit, a double. He does have eight walks to seven strikeouts, which is a plus. But certainly not enough to keep him around once Mike Cameron returns from his suspension in a few days.

This is encouraging. The Pirates need to stick with Morris.

Quote"As long as we feel there's still an ability in there to get people out, we're going to continue to let Matt be a starting pitcher for us," general manager Neal Huntington said last night. "If we get to the point where we just don't think he can compete, then we obviously have to make a move at that point."

Are they getting close?

"At this point, we're not all that close, which I know the fans don't want to hear. We're not close to deciding that Matt is done, because that's essentially what you'd be deciding. Maybe he could go somewhere else and click. We want to make sure we exhaust all opportunities right here."

I disagree. I think Morris needs to make a triumphant return to St. Louis.

Speaking of relievers crapping their pants, I watched Dotel blow the game for the Sux last night.

No way. As the Post-Dispatch's Gordo sees it, the Cardinals are going to have an excess of pitchers in the near future because Mulder is tearing up AA in a rehab start, Clement is going to start a rehab in May, and Carpenter is playing catch. He thinks they are going to actually have trade chips.

Tell Gordo that it's too bad those chips weren't ready sooner, maybe his gutty little club could have beaten the Giants a couple of times.

Krivsky is out.  Damnit.  It's really early in the season to be axing a GM.

I'm not only sad to see the Reds upgrade in the front office, I'm sad I won't get to use "Kriv-Dog" in regular baseball conversation.
