Apparently the rules were changed 2 years ago to allow the League President to reverse a scorer's decision without needing approval of the offical scorer...

Under MLB rule 10.01, "The League President, after considering the evidence submitted and any other evidence he wishes to consider, may request that the official scorer change a judgment call or, if the League President concludes that the judgment of the official scorer had been clearly erroneous, may order a change in a judgment call."

------------

So I guess the first thing the Brewers need to do is get Selig and the owners to reinstate the position of League President?

Sorry, CT. Rule 2.00 has that covered.

QuoteTHE LEAGUE PRESIDENT is the league official charged with enforcing these
Rules, fining or suspending any player, manager, coach or umpire for violation of these
Rules, resolving any disputes involving these Rules or determining any protested games.

Rule 2.00 (League President) Comment:  With respect to the Major Leagues, the functions of the
League President pursuant to these Rules shall be carried out by the designees of the Commissioner of
Baseball.  The Commissioner may designate different officials to carry out different functions of a
League President pursuant to these Rules.

On a related note, I'm going to assume that Wood's 20K game would've also been a no-hitter under these new rules.

If it weren't for the strikezone of the incomparable Jerry Meals, it probably would've been a 10 K game and Wood would have left after 5. And the Cubs would've lost and never made the playoffs.

But hey, 66 homeruns, octaroons!

What was Ned thinking? Sheets could have pitched through a little tightness in his groin and gone a full 9 innings.

They've got a better chance of signing Sheets than they do of signing CC with the DDs.

If Sheets signs with the Asstrolls (as is being rumored), they will be the 2009 version of the Brewers. And Milwaukee will be lucky to be .500 if they lose Sheets and CC.

By the way, the rotation sets up to where CC and Sheets pitch the first two games of both remaining series against the Cubs.

Assuming Sheets isn't on the DL by then.

It's too bad they don't have JI. He'd fix that groin tightness right quick.

When the commissioner from Milwaukee changes the error to a hit, the league will force the Pirates to return to Milwaukee and resume the exact places where they were standing so that the Brewers can hold an on field celebration.  Ticket holders at Sunday's game will be given free tickets and abratwurst if they come back and resume their places to make the re-enactment of the final out more festive.

Are you suggesting there's a celebration BETTER than defiantly untucking your shirts?  I doubt it, Stew.  I doubt it very much.

Can I mention yet again that I love the Milwaukee bullpen?
