He didn't play last year because he got his face busted in a fight during the Anaheim series.  Not sure what happened in 07-08, but he didn't play a game in the playoffs that year.

That's what I assumed. The closest and most recent example was Chara's instigator and game misconduct in the waning seconds of game 5 vs. Buffalo. He wasn't suspended even though the rules specifically state any instigator in the final minutes gets an automatic one game suspension. Wasn't sure what the rules were with 10 minute misconducts but I thought there was something. There has to be a reason for them to be handed out whether it's punishment by suspension or fine.

At least in Chara's case, they overruled the instigator suspension because, on reviewing the tape they found that he wasn't actually the instigator.
