Oh I think I'm an arrogant, self-righteous ass and I have years of data to prove it. But I certainly don't take myself seriously, and the vibe I get from Brett sometimes is that he gets a little defensive over comments that really wouldn't merit that response from me. Comparing him to Yellon was harsh, that's just the go-to standard for Blogger-Who-Takes-Himself-Too-Seriously. I like the guy's site, I just think he could learn to roll with the punches a bit sometimes.

I think Brett still has far and away the best Cubs blog out there. Just because there are things he does that I find annoying doesn't mean I hate 100% of him or his entire persona. But you, nuance and the Internet and all.

Do you think it's far and away better than Cubs Den?

They're pretty interchangeable to me - I think Cubs Den does a better job with the farm system, maybe BN a little better with the Cubs.

IAN kind of already touched on this, but I think BN is a lot more polished and in-depth. Admittedly, I don't read Cubs Den as often, so maybe that's not a fair assessment. But a lot of what I've seen is pretty bloggy, which isn't necessarily bad, but doesn't distinguish itself.

Brett reports the facts fine, for the most part.  Once he ventures into opinion territory (or tries to be funny) that's where he loses me.  YMMV.
You two wanna go stick your wangs in a hornet's nest, it's a free country.  But how come I always gotta get sloppy seconds, huh?

Yes, let's hope Pen never actually gets how player comps work, because this is amusing

Guy: I think Bryant will be the best Cubs' third baseman since Santo, for sure.
Pen: What kind of asshole openly wishes for someone's legs to get amputated?

Guy: Soler reminds me a lot of Roberto Clemente

Pen: *tackles Soler before he can board his next flight*

Guy: That Addison Russell has a lot of Ryne Sandberg in him.
Pen: *Fucks Russell's future wife*

Did I do that right?

Actually had an old guy pull out Ken Hubbs on me a few weeks back when I was talking about the Cubs prospects. "He won ROTY and then he died in a plane crash. Can't put all your eggs into the prospect basket."

Because I guess plane crashes are just a thing Theo should factor into his five year plan.

Pretty sure car crashes are built into St. Louis'.

I've heard people mention a Lauren Hill that had a brain tumor and I've always thought they were referring to the Fugees chick

I still don't know who this Lauren Hill is.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

Your loss. Brain tumors suck, but Pen and I will take those 16 points.

Now that Edwin Jackson is pretty much a non-factor, David Ross is my new least favorite Cub.

I'm sure he's full of intangibles and maybe even one tangible-ish thing with framing, but I'd just as soon never see him in the lineup or taking up a roster spot.
I can't believe I even know these people. I'm ashamed of my internet life.

Agreed. The personal catcher thing was barely tolerable when it was Michael Barrett vs. Paul Bako, but at least Bako was widely acknowledged as the superior catcher of the two. Montero is a better defensive catcher and pitch framer than Ross is. There's no point to this at all. Especially since his rapport with Lester doesn't exactly appear to be coaxing better results out of him.

Despite my long-standing LOUD aversion to fruity beer (and the subsequent spawned meme,) I've been on the lookout for Grapefruit Sculpin for like 2 years now and just finally got it in Colorado and I'm expecting to enjoy the fuck out of it.

A little, but not my favorite.

Definitely not more than 1 in a session.

What about sour beers? Boulevard's Love Child No. 5 came out this week and I'm resisting the urge to clean out my local liquor store ($18/pop prohibits that, fortunately or unfortunately). I'd been iffy on them before and this one changed my mind.
