What the hell happened to Gail Fischer?

She ate Kerry Sayers.

Bump because there isn't any other positive Cubs news right now.

Castro was 2-for-4 with a homer last night.  Now hitting .380/.396/.620 in 50 at-bats, good for a 1.016 OPS.  That's almost twice Ryan Theriot's OPS.

So, yay?

Well his OBP is right near what Milton's was last year, thus, they are the same player.

Bonus prospect positive:

At Tennessee, Andrew Cashner has a 2.60 ERA in 17 innings, with a 25-to-4 K/BB ratio.

I'm just hoping the Cubs resist the temptation to call him up to rescue the bullpen and keep him starting in the minors where he belongs until September at least. He looks outstanding. 0.63 WHIP. Jay Jackson at Iowa is another starter in the minors with #1 stuff. Casey Coleman at Iowa has good #s but he has #3 stuff at best. Either way, between Wells and those two they have enough starting pitching prospects that they will hopefully consider trading one or two of the veteran starters if when they're sucking ass at the all-star break.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

Who, though? I don't think you can trade Z, no trade clause and also the market for him would be small based off of his salary. Dempster, possibly. Silva, no, unless he continues to be good, which is highly unlikely. Lilly's a matter of if he looks good from the surgery. I'd protest a Lilly move, because I'm thinking he might be a guy who will be better in his 30s than in his 20s, so I'd like to see the Cubs re-sign him. Plus, I love the guy.

I wouldn't argue trading Z. I think he's still young enough to be effective for a few more years and with his no-trade he'd probably be more difficult to move. Dempster would make the most sense. His deal isn't terribly unreasonable and I'm sure a team would be desperate enough to pay well for him. Lilly could also be moveable. It's just something to think about. Chances are Jim will trade Cashner for Matt Lawton or something anyways because the Cubs are only 7 1/2 games out of the WC lead at the break.

I think it's time to give up on Castro and trade him.  He's only hitting .380 with a 1.016 OPS at AA Tennessee.

Jimbo knows that the key to the infield in 2nd base.. so i have no doubt that whenever Starlin gets the call, he'll be playing at 2nd base.

The important thing to remember here is that Oleg is of slightly below average stature.

Wait. What are we talking about?

For fuck's sake, call up Starlin.  Even if it's only for my enjoyment.
