From CRG:

QuoteThe Cubs are drawn to Colletti, a Chicago native and former Cubs employee, since they believe he could bring Hall of Fame second baseman turned minor league manager Ryne Sandberg back as the team's Major League skipper. Sandberg has said he'd return to the Cubs now that former GM Jim Hendry has been fired, according to Wittenmyer.

Hiring on that criteria sounds like some excellent reasoning!

After hearing about Friedman, Epstein, Cashman and other good names, hiring Colletti would literally be the worst thing that ever happened.

Jim Bowden is available...

Colletti, Bowden, Steve Phillips. Maybe they can hire several GMs and use them on a rotating, committee basis.  They could call it something clever, like "University of GMs."

Eli, you're free to take the rest of the week off if you wish.

This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

We wouldn't expect a hotshot government labor paralegal to understand an honest day's work for an honest day's pay.

Jim Bowden is available...

He signed Jason Schmidt in 2006 to a 3-year, $47-million free agent contract.
He signed Andruw Jones in 2007 to a 2-year, $36 million.

The only good thing he's done is that he hasn't traded away his sure bet minor league players...

In his defense, they did get ten starts and 42 innings with an ERA+ of 72 (small sample size) out of Schmidt.

Quote from: GordoThe McCourts swept Evans out almost as soon as they took over, hiring Moneyball figure Paul DePodesta for a failed 20-month reign.

What a failure, trading away players at their peak value and signing a bunch of guys to below-market deals who then performed well.

Here is a list of all the candidates. Minus Dan Evans.

Kim Ng went to University of Chicago and would help Asian relations and women's relations. That's a dynamic combination of things.

Don't Dodgers fans hate him for trading Paul Lo Duca fer chrissakes.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015
