Here is a list of all the candidates. Minus Dan Evans.

Kim Ng went to University of Chicago and would help Asian relations and women's relations. That's a dynamic combination of things.

If she would bring more Asian women to Wrigley, I'm all for it.

Apex now goes by JakeD?

I'd need a ruling on this.

Kim Ng would make my Quadeboner look like my attitude toward Puff Daddy and the Family.

Muskrat:

QuoteAs for potential candidates, here are a half-dozen: Rangers assistant GM Thad Levine; Red Sox assistant GM Ben Cherington; Royals assistant GM J.J. Picollo; former Twins GM Terry Ryan; White Sox assistant GM Rick Hahn; Marlins assistant GM Mike Hill. Add those to the rumor mill.

Done and done.

Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

R-V, you should be ashamed of asking that question.

JJ is just a cheap substitute for the far cooler T.J. So, yeah JJ is far worse.

Chuck LaMar? Worked with Wilken in Tampa and assisted in Atlanta when Maddux was there.

Am I misremembering or was Lamar thought of as a complete boob in Tampa Bay? Or am I thinking of the previous owner?

You are correct. Per Wikipedia:

Tampa Bay Devil Rays

During the eight seasons (1998–2005)[2] when LaMar oversaw the Devil Rays franchise, the expansion team compiled a 518–777 (.400) record and only once won more than 70 games (2004).[5]

LaMar's tenure was characterized by moves such as trading Bobby Abreu and Dmitri Young while receiving Kevin Stocker and Mike Kelly in return. Those trades proved to be failures, as Abreu and Young went on to have successful careers. He was also responsible for signing Juan Guzmán, Wilson Alvarez, Wade Boggs, Roberto Hernández, and trading for Fred McGriff.[2]

LaMar was fired on October 6, 2005 by incoming owner Stuart Sternberg.[6]

Cubs ask permission to speak to Theo Epstein.  I like.

From the reading the comments, there seem to be two themes:

1. "Fine, let Theo walk. He's not that great anymore."
2. "We should get Garza or Castro as compensation."

Boston fans are THE WORST.

If (a very big "if") the Ricketti are smart:

  • Give Theo whatever salary and budget he asks for
  • Give Theo autonomy over hiring/firing/signing
  • PROFIT!

How about Theo as President, Andrew Friedman as GM, Eli as manager, and Yetti as Head Scout (11-14 Year Olds, Pacific Rim Region). NERDGASM!
