I hope you're cool with general managers joining this thread, Stew.

SCORPIONS!!!!!!!!!    Has there been a horror movie about them?   Think about it every time you put your shoes on in the morning.  Is there one of those little bastards nestled in the toe of that shoe?

Meanwhile, Albert Almora, the Cubs' 2012 top Draft pick, had to leave Saturday's game with Class A Kane County because of hemorrhoids. He is listed as day to day.

Andre Dawson paid his $1,000 fine for the Joe West incident with style. Dawson wrote ``Donation for the blind`` in the memo section of his personal check.

Serves him right!

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/26015138-419/cubs-coghlan-healthy-again-after-pie-went-awry-in-2010.html

The Cubs are used to having Pie go awry.

I'm just surprised Gordo didn't throw a line in there about how Coghlan is yet another cheap flyer from a front office that refuses to spend.

Classic story that inspired the first part of Bernard Malamud's "The Natural".  You expect the story to have some dramatic "kick" to it.  But, oddly, it doesn't.  It just lays there, kind of like Eddie Waitkus himself, asking "Why?"
