I really liked this. I don't think many people did. I also think many people are scared off by the length and confusing premise.

I think if you a) watch it in two parts and b) try to enjoy the movie vs. worrying about a linear story it really works.

It's not perfect by any means. White people in Asian make up is always hilarious.

But I really liked it.

Watch a WWII movie that was made during the War.  The Japanese soldiers and officers were always played by a chubby Jewish guy (usually Marvin Miller) who spoke in clipped pigeon English between clenched teeth, or by Asian actors using Chinese names.

Agreed - this wasn't a perfect movie - the goofy language used by the post-apocalyptic Valley People was more frustrating for me than the yellowface - but I really enjoyed it. This is a pretty cool graphic that ties together the timelines.

I got this book from the library and after 3 pages decided "fuck it, I'll just watch the movie instead."

Kind of wish I hadn't done any of it.
I can't believe I even know these people. I'm ashamed of my internet life.

Mel Brooks as a Yiddish speaking Native American was hilarious.  It went along with Cat Ballou's father insisting that Native Americans were the "Lost Tribe" is Israel.
