What’s Greg’s ETA on Tee Time today? How ’bout 12:50 as O/U.
Hey fellas.
Look at all those empty seats! Ha! Now the fans are showing those Tribune suits. Sell sell sell!
That Juan Pierre can play ball.
We blame Desipio.
Did I just say the Marlins tied a season high with two straight wins?
Rock on, Cubs.
Through 1/2 inning and there are only six desipiot posts for a Gamecast. I am honestly considering adopting the Brewers as my new team. I am pathetic.
Adopt the Mets as your other team dude, the mets are awesome.
Beeerrraaa—
oh wait what did I miss?
Yes, really.
I know a baseball team you all can cheer for.
Jesus Christ, do I ever not hit the ball 420 feet?
shut up Jerry
No, Miggy. You never hit the ball without authority.
Is Any here or is he watching 24 again?
Andy*
I’ll cheer for the Mets…right after I pick up my White Sox Championship DVD.
I keep telling the pitchers to pitch to that Cabrera guy so our outfielders get a workout.
Any is watching me.
hey guys, I learned how to keep score with my left hand.
What, no JJP!?!?!?!?
Have you noticed that we don’t pitch to Miguel Cabrera?
Wonder why I hate the Sox so much…can’t figure it out. Hmm.
Slaky, you’re talking about those inbreds from the South Side and not us, right?
bunt single, hit by pitch, inning ending double play.
feel the excitement.
Way to go Murt! Good thing those kids are being taught to be aggressive. Why take pitches? That’s why they call it a ‘hitter.’ Dude.
eat that Abercrombie.
ouch. that hurt dammit.
Feel the neifury!
I now batting .203 !!
I am a hitting God !!
I am ready for my contract extension, Mr Hendry.
I suck ass today
See, I told you Neifi was the season savior.
“Dusty Baker brings out the stool for this one.”
Doesn’t Dusty bring out “the stool” for every game, (i.e. the starting lineup)?
Remember my last RBI on April 7? That was awesome.
Juan Pierre is on pace to have a career high 65 Ks and a career low 7 RBIs.
wow, I’m fast.
7 RBI? Hahaha, that’s rich! Is that really what JP is on pace for?
Gameday sure is slow. Did Jacque GITP?
If they want to add excitement to this game, they should lay a ball in center field and have Hanley Ramirez and Freddie Bynum race to it. The loser gets punched in the face by the frustrated opposing catcher.
OW!!!! My ass!!!!
You been hearin’ about me? You all been reading that? The stuff going on down there?
Gameday must be broken. It now says that Pancakes hit a triple.
really?
it would be 28 other clubs. marlins and cubs excluded. 28 other clubs would not pitch to miguel
7.2 to be exact, Dan.
I’m 11 for 19 in the last 5 games
I have a BA of .306
I’m on pace for 80 RBI
I’m on pace for 22 HR
I’m on pace for 84 K’s (that’s awesome for me)
You’re me, No. 46!
Whoever you are, let’s talk extension.
Does Not Compute.
It’s amazing what a little coaching can do for a guy.
We guess it’s also amazing what little coaching can do for a guy.
I don’t know what’s gone wrong, but Gene Cline does a nice job.
Whew. Someone hail me a cab to 3rd base.
Imagine what Prior and Wood will do when Hendry gives up on them
feel free to add to me
Typical.
Three of us have been stranded today.
A leadoff double by the pitcher and the top of the order can’t get him around?
I’m frozen
Yeah…they’re the freakin’ Cubs! Why are we so surprised by this? No one scores unless there’s a HR. This happens all the time. They should have scored that run, but did they? No. When have they? Hardly ever.
What time is it?
Boy what a ballgame. Back and forth. All the excitement.
I never knew WGN televised AAA games. These are two competetive Minor League teams.
(Really?)
Apparently HR can be hit out of this park.
I think it’s time to stop talking about bad breaks. Really. The team fucking sucks.
I really need to drop an “Oh how humiliating!” right about now.
Mayberry, run back to the locker room and see if Blanco woke up yet.
Len probably doesn’t know about “Oh how humiliating.” He hasn’t come back since I gave him advice on how to do his job.
Yes, REALLY, female doges! Now more than ever, that must be humiliating!
Faux BC, yeah, but surely I’m following the Gamecast right this minute. Well, either that or watching 24.
Does anyone else hate the way Ron and the other guy on the radio says Murton’s name? “mur-Ton”
Seeing Maddux sitting there on the bench, grabbing a bat and then smashing a water cooler may be the saddest Cubs-related thing I’ve ever seen. This is not the way he should be finishing his career.
meet the mets doot do dooo, meet the mets, doot doo doo!
The good news today…….maybe this crappy team will eventually get Baker fired. You would think if he’s swept by the worst team in baseball that ought to get the ball rolling.
Neifi?, Greggie, Un-Lucky coming up.
strap yourselves in folks and hang on for a wild ride.
The cubs are bringin the lumber baby.
Best team in baseball-White Sox….2nd best-Cardinals…….Swept by the Marlins, does it really get any worse. I have tried before, but i really am done. No more 3 hour interruptions this summer. See ya in 2007.
Make that Neifi-Bynum-Pierre.
Ugh. Ulcer.
sadly no, this will only temporarily delay dusty’s extension.
#72, don’t you mean 2nd worst team in baseball?
Should be interesting to see who finishes with the least RS in the MLB this year.
yup, we delivered.
we’re as good as advertised.
(sounds of weak hi-fives fill the cubs dugout)
I love me some Kentucky Fried Pollo.
why am I watching this?
I must be procrastinating doing something even more unpleasant like,…. performing a root canal on my self….
It’s a freain’ shame this “firing” that Dusty is due has taken this long. It just hurts to listen to. It hurts to watch. I mean, Joe Borchard? That’s like Damian Jackson hitting a key homerun against Kerry Wood in Wood’s first start back from…wait, that happened already. It’s gonna keep happening. This is a very, very bad team right now. Changes won’t be made, though. That would make too much sense. Instead, we’ll keep coming here and keep bitching and nothing will change.
I think I’ve come to the realization that this will never happen in my lifetime (I’m 35).
Or my son’s lifetime (he’s 5).
Or his childrens’ lifetime.
Maybe he’ll spurn his old man and cheer for some other team. That might actually make me happy.
I’ll be here in October.
you can just call me “really?’ from now on.
Hopefully im Dusty after the Cabrera homer!!!!
Keep pitching to me morans.
Jesus Christ, you were right about me, all I do is hit the ball 420 feet.
That’s it, pretty much.
Did Maddux really take a bat to the dugout?
You know, in the past 3 days Neifi is the only guy playing that wouldnt be if Lee was healthy. Wood and Maddux has pitched. No more injury excuses, im sorry, but this team sucks. Getting Lee back will be huge, but not enough to make them a contender all of a sudden. Blow this shit up and lets start over.
We are for real.
I’m with #90….let’s treat it like we should Iraq. Blow that shit up and start over.
A) YOURE IN SECOND PLACE
B) GET KILLED
Kermit: Yup.
He was sitting on the bench and there was a bat right next to him. He sort of looked at it for a few seconds … pondered … and then picked it up and took a big swing at a water cooler with it. Splashed the trainer pretty good, too.
I’ve never seen anything like that from him before.
Meet the Mets
Meet the Mets
head for the Park
And greet the Mets
Hot dogs, green grass, all out at Shea,
Guaranteed to have a heck of a day
you do know that when I do come back, I won’t be the same hitter I was before the injury. I won’t have my power stroke back untill next season. It takes a long time to get back full strength after a wrist injury…i’m just saying, temper your expectations dudes.
Is a good day to get fired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it’s a hand injury… not a wrist injury. supposedly this is better for his recovery prospects.
What’s Florida’s payroll again? Anyone doubt that if the Marlins don’t fold and if they keep Cabrera around, they’ll win a world series before the Cubs?
I think those people who condemn Marlins ownership for tearing down and rebuilding are morons. They’ve got two World Series in the last ten years. I’d take that. I’d take 1 every 25 years. Shit, I’ll just take one.
Andy, I think we’ll be getting some Doses at least into next week.
I wonder what Thursday will bring. Barroid tied Ruth when the Cubs were getting embarassed on Saturday…The Big Skirt’s homecoming helped obscure the fact that rookie pitcher Ricky Nolasco went and equalled the RBI total of the centerfielder he was traded for on Monday…the Bulls clinched second pick in the draft last night while the Cubs lost the series to Florida–and ensured no better than a season split…these assholes can’t hide forever. Hopefully, some people will be running for cover tomorrow.
Hopefully. Not that I’m holding my breath, but it IS an off-day.
I actually find myself rooting for them to be bad. It’s not that I want to see them lose, but I’ve become conditioned. It’s my minds way of flippin shit to keep me positive, and to prevent me from letting spectator sports affect my moods. Besides, there is some glory to being EXTREMELY BAD in sports.
Does anyone have statistics for the worst offense ever in MLB history? Is there one team that stands out? I’d love to see this team compete for that prize.
hey #98, if the some guy is Will Carroll from Under the knife, (who by the way, is not a Doctor, and he hasn’t seen the x-rays) what he actually said is that technically it’s an ARM injury not a wrist injury…that doesn’t really mean much as far as recovery. he fractured the unla and radius bones which are arm bones, but the fracture was at the very tip of the bones in the wrist area, so most people, doctors included will call it a broken wrist…reguardless, he needs to rebuild all the supporting muscels around that area slowly, which can take a year to be 100 percent. some hitters are never the same
I’m the guy you can’t remember, and it was an arm injury, not wrist or hand, for that matter. DLee will be fine, not that it fucking matters any more.
We own the cubs.
During the initial futility streak, the Cubs were challenging and matching records set by the expansion Padres of 1969. That may be a good place to start your research.
You know what? I hope Joe Bo strikes out the side. That would actually kind of cheer me up.
Get out the broom female doges.
Alot of people say it wouldnt do any good to fire Dusty, its not his fault. I think that is only because we all know that the Cubs wouldnt go after a real manager, they probably would promote Gary Mathews for the rest of the season. Fire him after the season and hire Dave Otto or someone like him. This is what we really have come to expect. Why couldnt I have grown up a Sox or Cardinal fan????
Don’t worry dudes, I have a strategy here. You see we can’t turn the season around all at once. You have to do it little by little. See dudes it’s like you take one step forward and three steps back. Little by little. In 2 weeks maybe you take 3 steps forward, that’s how you build momentum dudes. Big time.
it was also a good place to start the antidepressants.
Just be glad you didn’t run into me this time around, doges.
yup,
that about covers it.
Beeerrreeeaa—
oh wait,
what did I miss?
sorry I’m late guys
We’re really, really, REALLY bad. We may as well not have turned up today. We don’t look remotely interested and we have completely phoned this in. We should refund our fucking salaries for this series.
What a horrible time to quit.
I know someone who can turn that frown upside-down.
Me?
Does anyone have “Old Tribune Media guy and current Cub Big Cheese Dennis Fitzimmons offers the job of running the organization to former WGN employee Steve Stone” on their radar.
It may be a sucker proposition for Stone, but will represent the only chance he’ll ever get to run the show. He” have nothing to lose and will start by naming Maddux pitcher/manager.
And if Kerry Wood doesn’t like it, he can go, well, you know. I’m sure Stoney can give him some leads to any of his buddies that are running auto dealerhsips.
Hey Dusty, we’re in the earn it business, not the give it business, so take a fucking hike you piece of shit!
this is embarrassing……even for me
Jon Miller is broadcasting the Cards-Giants game right now and he’s defending Dusty like you can’t believe.
“These aren’t players Dusty brought in – Juan Pierre (who’e been declining the last two years) Jacque Jones, etc., management did”
Mentioning that The Cubs were doing great early in the year and Dusty was being praised.
you know what Jon, you love him so much, PLEASE take him back.
remember when neifi perez was signed as a backup to nomar, who was supposed to be replaced by rafael furcal, but then the dodgers signed furcal this season and nomar as well, and we resigned perez to a two year deal……..were getting what we deserve……fire hendry
KILL YOURSELF
See the link, female doges.
Oh, wait… I’m me. Oh, my head hurts,,,
You haven’t hit rock bottom yet.
Fire Dusty.
Everyone knows it’s Dusty’s fault that Derrek Lee broke his wrist.
Everyone knows it’s Dusty’s fault that Juan Pierre is hitting .220.
Everyone knows it’s Dusty’s fault that Aramis hasn’t hit since he signed his big contract.
Everyone knows it’s Dusty’s fault that Wood and Prior got hurt, again.
Everyone knows it’s Dusty’s fault that we don’t have anyone in the farm system, after years of Hendry and McFail, to bring up when a front-liner gets hurt or stops hitting.
It’s all Dusty’s fault. When the team started out hot, they did it in spite of Dusty. When Lee got hurt, it’s Dusty’s fault that the team didn’t rally together and play above their heads. It’s Dusty’s fault that a $14 M Florida team that dumped virtually every salary on the roster during the offseason has a better lineup 1-8 than the Cubs and their 80M payroll.
No matter what the cause, when things go wrong, fire the manager. That’s worked so well for us in the past. Bring back the College of Coaches! And while you’re at it, hire Frank Robinson. He’s got plenty of experience managing a crummy team. And with all the day games, he could get to sleep at a time befitting his years.
— STILL and always a Cubs fan
With today being an off day, this could still be a bad day for the Cubs. I think alot of people are hoping something happens today, ie.. fire somebody, make a trade, something. After being swept by the Marlins they have to throw the fans a bone. Well, they dont have to, but without a change, there is no reason to think this team will ever win again. There is a protest being organized on another blog site for saturday before the game. They are trying to get Fox to cover it. Things are getting ugly. Cub fans are losing faith fast.
