How much longer do you think I’ll be flying? I doubt I make it to sundown.
Lance Neikro?
Looking like Marshall might be giving me up today
Sean Marshall? Rich Hill? Exactly.
Never Mind
Why don’t I bat second and let’s put Lucky in the 8th spot?
Good night everybody!!!
who let Glendon pitch today?
Don’t worry-I’ll be in soon. Very soon.
I was completely unnecessary there
What Dusty is calling on the Dugout phone
I love acting like I’ve never fielded before in my life.
Rally time
A couple more hours.
Hey, look, I’m on base. Wouldn’t that be handy at the top of the order?
Dude…only rookies and catchers bat 8th.
Jock, Lucky, pay attention. That is how you handle a bat.
Having Cedeno square to bunt twice before grounding into the double play is why Dusty is a horrible in-game manager. Wright was struggling to throw strikes and Dusty was willing to give him an out. Pathetic!
You can’t expect rookies to knock in runs, dude.
Not to mention the fact that middle infielders are table setters…not RBI men.

#18 – You haven’t noticed that I square to bunt on the first pitch then take it for a strike in every at bat? Coach Clines wrote that for me on my batting helmet visor.
My bags are packed, I’m getting the call any second!
I blend with the others now.
Batting Pierre second is about as contrarian as you can get. That and stupid.
If I were Pierre’s coach, I would tackle him and kick him in the face. OBP4LIFE
Berut gets 4 straight balls, so naturally I swing at the first pitch I see.
I am a dumbass.
No Jock Jones Pose for us today. Man, I know Pierre is even worse, but I just can’t help but dislike Jones more. Maybe next time he hits the cutoff man, he’ll bust out the Jock Jones Pose then, too.
Three years, bitches!
How do they keep singling to shortstop? Is Ronny botching these plays?
The Cubs are awesome.
I’m learning so much from Juan Pierre. Did you see how I grounded out to second. Smooth.
… is 33 comments in two hours.
WTF? Why do we have a hack like Freddy Bynum on the roster? He shouldn’t even be on the radar for us. Way to go, Doughnut boy.
I came here first, saw 34 comments 2 hours in and knew it was likely ugly… Too bad Marshall had to have a bad game – it’s not like he’s had one yet…
down 9-0 and I still double switch. I am brain damaged.
It’s amazing that the Cubs can’t score a run against a lineup that 2 center fielders and no third baseman. Er, wait, maybe Pete Happy’s at third and Team USA is in right.
Anyone care if I leave a lil’ early? Anyone? Anybody? Helloooooo!!!!
Times change. I didn’t even realize the Cubs were playing this afternoon.
Brian, neither did the Cubs.
You aren’t the only one, Brian.
The Cubs have officially come back to me.
I’m getting extremely hot right now.
I’m getting extremely concave right now.
Whoa, wait a minute! Why the **** am I batting 8th????
Now you’re out of the game too #45, in case you haven’ noticed.
I’ve been known to do that to a few seats. Must be the Krispy Kreme.
Holy shi*t I actually made it to 3rd!
smell me yet?
See? My Bench boys are mounting the comeback, dude. They start for the whole homestand, dude.
If you bat the guys you want to double-switch out later, you have to bat them higher to reap the benefits of the double-switch. The pitcher taking the 8th spot doesn’t help nobody.
Well well well… a starter that’s 4-1 with a 3.65 ERA sure would be useful for the cubbies right now, huh?
Look Barry, dude, I put in Ohman and you still couldn’t splash #714? Time to get some of the clear, dude.
I’m coming out. I thought Prior would be here so I could blast him between the eyes.
If you fire Baker before the final out, Hendry.
Anyone heading to the airport to welcome the boys home?
Stink like open ass.
Oh sure. NOW Steve Kline comes out.
Can we fire up the dumbass quoteboard? Straight from cubs.com…
“Mabry saved us at first base,” Baker said. “He made some great plays and those are things that don’t show up in the box score but show up in the win column. You know he’s a grinder and those are the kind of guys you like to have around.”
So mabry’s effort and skills are showing up in the win/loss column? Has Dusty looked at the win/loss column lately?
Wow.
The Cubs really do suck.
As of 1:30 PM for a 1:20 start? Hello????
I have me for the rest of the Cubs season…..Go Sox I guess.
What, no Gamecast today? Are you man or are you mouse!?
SD, what are my other choices?
Other choice: Cubs fan.
Man — Mouse — Cubs fan. We’re at the bottom of the food chain!? Oh, how humiliating.
Even more humiliating is that I didn’t really leave early when I said I was going to (finished the train wreck to the last drop), and I’m watching today’s soon-to-be disaster. Now THAT’s sad.
Go Cubs!
I didn’t know “soon-to-be” meant “as soon as I hit enter”.
Obligatory “Now, more than ever.”
Cubs fan and fair-weather fan evidently share a link on the food chain
This team really SUCKS!! Until Bakers gone or they make some trades to get better, im done. See you guys when we get good, which means that I probably will never be back.
This sucks. Change it.
After watching this Cubs team, I think I’m going to barf!
Who else bets that my worthless ass is released sometime in the next week or so??
Anyone notice KKKorey is hitting in Baltimore? He just had a 3R shot vs KC, and he was .271 with 3HR, 12 RBI and 7 SB going into the game.
Korey is head and shoulders above any 2006 Cubs OF.
Don’t worry Cubs fans, by the end of May I’ll be back to underachieving and making Fast Freddie look like the next Bob Dernier
I would be overreacting to the situation, perhaps the gun should be pointed in a different direction. Go Orioles or anyone else for that matter…gonna be a loooooong year.
Let’s make a team of Former Cubs from 2003-2005
C – Damian Miller – .337/.398/.592/.990
1B – Nomar Garciaparra – .354/.416/.684/1.100
2B – Mark Grudzielanek – .309/.348/.407/.755
SS – Ramon Martinez – .290/.389/.355/.744
3B – Mark Bellhorn – .222/.300/.413/.713
RF – Moises Alou – .378/.436/.671/1.107
CF – Corey Patterson – .274/.314/.444/.758
LF – Kenny Lofton – .281/.337/.417/.754
On ESPN he said the Cubs should not fire Dusty. He says you only should fire a manager when 1. he doesnt get the most out of the talent he has and 2. you dont think that he is capable of getting the most out of the talent in the future. Both of those fit Dusty to a tea. He should be fired! As bad as I hate to admit this, Larussa has dealt with losing a lot of talent and having injuries to key players and they are always contending. Its the difference between a good manager and a bad one. The Cubs havent had a good manager since Durocher, with an honorable mention to Zimmer.
Arise Charlie Grimm…
Arise!
Yeah, the Cubs have Wood, Prior and Lee on the DL. Also Wade Miller, who has never appeared in a Cub uniform. The Dodgers have 11 players on the DL and have not surrendered the season.
That’s cause the Dodgers have Nomar…right?
Is there another server where new doses are being posted at? Should I be checking the message board more? The Cubs are losing, this is the best time to be writing about the team, yet I don’t see anything.
Did Andy die? What the hell is going on here…I specifically take about 30 minutes out of each work day so that I can read Dolan’s diatribe, yet he has been myseriously missing lately. Maybe he is recovering from Grey’s Anatomy last night. I understand, Andy. By the way, the Cubs lick monkey butt right now.
I understand that it’s hard to do anything Cub-related these days. Watching this team makes me wish “Freddie” was on. But this is the time we need Desipio the most. And yes, I do appreciate the picture of Jock working at Wal-Mart, but like #83, one of the highlights of my day is printing out the dose, grabbin a coffee, and makin long browns in the handicapped stall. If there’s no dose by 1 PST, I have to grab the local paper to read about the Giants. The GIANTS!
Please come back Andy. We promise we’ll make funny comments…
#83–I talked to Monkey Butt, and he said that he’d rather not be associated with the 2006 Cubs.
#84–I think we’d probably be good friends. Nice sense of humor. But, you are so right. These are very trying times in the land of Cub. It’s time for its residents to stage an uprising.
P.S., “long browns in the handicapped stall.” Priceless. Everybody knows the handicapped stall is the best one.
