Hello again everybody, we’re here for game three of the NL Championship Series. It’s an interesting night in Miami or Pompano Beach or wherever the hell this football stadium the Marlins play in is. You can walk around the parking lot and see Cubs fans infiltrating the scene and hear Marlins fans asking that immortal question, "How many weeks have YOU been a Marlins fan?"

Hello, everybody! Just checking in from Kauai, where I am allegedly on my Honeymoon in between games of the NLCS.
I am back at this condo waiting for my wife to wake up so we can go to the Poipu Beach Broiler and watch the game alongside the ocean.
Of course, it does suck that it’s only 2:00 here, and I am missing time at the beach (or time doing other activities) for the Cubs, I suppose.
So I have missed every single Gamecast. But I wanted to check in and leave you with this:
Cubs 4
Marlins 1
Shots of Sarah Pates-Wood 134
Kerry Wood Pitch Count 119

On the WGN pregame show Steve Stone managed to work "the Cubs will make it 2-1 tonight" about six times. Dan Roan interviewed Andre Dawson in his Marlins uniform and Andre kept referring to the Cubs as "we" and Tom Skilling’s forecast had the Cubs up 4-2 in the fifth.
How’d they get the two, Tommy?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:11 pm
Don’t worry TJ, the Cubs are planning on having plenty of games left when you get home.
Fox is doing a piece on Ivan Rodriguez, and if you haven’t noticed, I just don’t like him.
Of course, Phil Rogers wrote both in the Tribune and on ESPN.com today that the Cubs are better off with Bako and Miller because they’ve "both been to the playoffs each of the last three years."
I was a Brewers season ticket holder last year when Bako was there and I’m mad that I didn’t get offered Brewers playoff tickets.
I sent Phil an e-mail today, let’s hope he writes back.

Howdy all. No honeymoons here.
A 4-1 prediction already. Is that for the game or the series?

That damn RSVP game that Andy included a link to in his Dose e-mail last week is down. Looks like whoever maintained that site has removed it because of server problems.
Looks like I’ll have to check myself into rehab with Rush in order to make it through the withdrawal symptoms I must now face.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:15 pm
tHomm Brennaman, still creepy.
Steve Lyons, still confused.
Al Leiter, still filming that hostage video tape.
Ahh, this ought to be grand.
By the way, Mark Redmond is a salad pitcher. The Cubs will toss that salad, early and often.
Have no fear.

I’ll be back in time for the big bash Oct. 18.
Phil Rogers is a nice enough guy, but his baseball knowledge, is, um, wanting. Which is not what you want in a baseball writer.
This April, I sat in the LF upperdeck right behind him and his children.
Talking to him, I learned two things:
a) He truly thought the Sox starting rotation was better than the Cubs’.
b) He apparently liked former Trib sports editor John Cherwa, who was almost universally hated at the Trib sports desk.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:17 pm
Crap, we crashed another server? By the way, I love that RSVP game. I played it for almost two hours Saturday night after the Cubs puked that game up to the Braves. It was either that or drink cold duck until I wet my pants…
…again.
Wait, is it Redmond or Redman? Which one’s the damn catcher. God, I hate the Marlins.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:18 pm
Ahhh, it’s battle of the BP jerseys tonight. I hate those things, too.
I’m on a skinhead kind of roll right now.
OK, it’s REDMAN. He won’t be around long enough for me to remember it, though.

Kenny hits one at Lee and Mark Redman just left his groin in a pile in front of first base. Lee muffs it. Lofton’s safe.

From what I’ve read, the Marlins are very cautious coming into this game. They fear Wood.
They’ve got a bloody good home ground advantage by the looks of things, though. If they can keep it close, they’ll back themselves to get away with it.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:22 pm
OK, no groin injury. Lofton hit Redman in the face as he ran by. Redman’s looking a little concussed.
Nice, our pals at Fox are comparing the collision to what Bob Fick did to Karros.
That was a little difference. Like, Fick did it on purpose and Kenny’s was an accident.
Redman’s going to stay in. Let’s commence to pummelling.
Steve Lyons
on October 10, 2003 at 7:22 pm
Hey, Robert Fick missed the final two games of the 5-game NLDS after hitting Karros in Game 4.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:23 pm
Lyons just said Redman doesn’t have a good move to first, but he does have a good move to home.
Huh?
Gruddy tests Redman’s concussion and sac bunts Lofton to second.
One out.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:24 pm
For the first road game in a looooong time, Sammy doesn’t get booed.
Sammy singles off the wall, he crushed it and did the hop. Conine got it back in, in a hurry and went to second, so Sammy probably wouldn’t have gotten two, anyway. But the hop didn’t help.
Lofton scores easily. 1-0 Cubs.

More to come?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:27 pm
1997 World Series MV…oh, wait, Moises Alou is up.
Can’t the Cubs pretend every inning is the first inning? They’d be unstoppable.
Leiter is reminiscing about Livan Hernandez’s great NLCS. Remember that NLCS game against Atlanta when Eric Gregg’s strike zone was roughly nine feet wide.
Alou hits into a 463 double play. But the Cubs get the only run they’ll need tonight! (Hey, it’s worth a shot.) After half an inning, Cubs 1, Marlins 0.
T.J. Brown
on October 10, 2003 at 7:28 pm
OK, I’m going to enjoy the sun, folks. We have another 7 days here, and I am hoping the Cubs wrap it up Sunday morning. But Joanna won’t be happy when I go to brekfast at 6:45 Sunday morning to have bloody marys and breakfast in time for the Bears-Saints game followed by the Cubs-Marlins at 10.
I’ll be sufficiently drunk Sunday afternoon.
If someone can drive Thom Brenaman deep into the Everglades and lose him, let me know.
He thinks the 2003 Marlins might just be the best team ever. Next to the 2001 D backs of course.

Lyons scouting report on Kerry Wood is that "he can get wild at times." That’s what they’re paying Steve the big bucks for.
Jeff Conine has never faced Woody before. He’s in for quite a treat.
Pierre whiffs to start the game.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:33 pm
Al Leiter says "speed kills." Just ask Rabih Abdullah.
Castillo grounds to the good Alex Gonzalez. Our Alex should do superfluous spins like theirs, then tHomm would think he’s cool, too.
Andy

Pudge goes the other way…go figure and lines to Sammy.
Kerry gets through the first on ten pitches.

Mark Redman says his pregame ritual is to "sweat profusely." That’s…great?
Lyons says Karros is "the one guy in the lineup who’ll go the other way."
The ONE guy? Sammy doesn’t routinely hit balls to right center? Nahhh.
Karros has a great at bat. He fouls off about six pitches and then rifles one to right for a base hit.
Andy

Fox is doing yet another Sprint PCS phone trivia question. Look, no matter what the question is, the Cubs will win every one. Nobody does cell phones like Cubs fans. Plus there are only about six million times more Cubs fans than Marlins fans.
You could ask, "Which team looks better in teal?" It would end up Cubs 98 percent, Marlins 2.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:46 pm
Al loves the mound in Florida. I’ll take his word for it.
Redman might not like it THAT much, he’s throwing lots of balls.
Redman walks Miller and here’s big swinging Kerry. How about a granny?
Andy

Wayne Rosenthal is the Marlins’ pitching coach, but I think it’s actually Chris Bosio in the witness protection plan.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:48 pm
It must suck to be Redman and be throwing to a pitcher with the knowledge you can’t blow him away with any of your pitches.
Wood hits a sac fly to shallow center. Karros was dragging the plow down the line and Pierre’s throw hit the mound, or it would have been close.
Two – zip Cubs.
Nice jump on the tag by Karros.
He can fly!
OK, maybe not.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 7:50 pm
Kenny took a curveball outside and nodded "no" as the ball went past.
He singles, but Gonzo can’t score. Bases loaded.

That has to hurt to get contradicted (correctly) by Steve Lyons.

Look, I’m sick about all this crap about how the Cubs can’t lose a game with Wood or Prior on the mound because Zambrano and Clement can’t win one.
Zambrano and Clement are better than four of the Marlins starters. Just shut up.
Zambrano didn’t get hit any harder than Burnett did.
Pudge singles to right, it’s 3-2 Marlins.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:46 pm
Wood’s night is done. The Farns is coming in.
Matt
on October 10, 2003 at 9:46 pm
crap. i want to break something.
Chuck
on October 10, 2003 at 9:47 pm
Not a money pitcher, that KW.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:48 pm
It’s a double switch, with Randall Simon coming in for Karros, which makes Dusty not using Randall with the bases loaded last inning all the more confusing.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:49 pm
Farns’ first pitch is called a ball and Al says, "High? What was that a ball right down the middle?"
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:51 pm
Steve and Al are now arguing about whether Kerry tried to throw too many strikes. I’m going to fire up the oven and put my head in it.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:52 pm
The Marlins think they’ve won this. We’ve seen that bullpen. They haven’t.
Chuck
on October 10, 2003 at 9:52 pm
Great commentary on Wood’s approach. Just a poor thinking pitcher — with no help from his catcher or his manager/bench.
If the Cubs don’t come back tonight, they don’t come back from Florida.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:53 pm
Farns blows away Derek Lee.
The Marlins get two and lead it 3-2.
Chad Fox and the eighth beckon next.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:54 pm
So now we know that you actually meant that Kerry’s not a money pitcher, Chuck?
We were going to give you the benefit of the sarcastic doubt.
Now, you’re just a dope.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:56 pm
tHom says Jack McKeon’s not sure who he’ll use to close. That’s because Jack’s not sure who’s IN his bullpen.
Gonzalez flies deep to center.
One out.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:57 pm
Tom Goodwin will pinch hit for Damian Miller.
Miller walked twice tonight, which is an upset of epic proportions.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:58 pm
Al gives a shout out to Theo Epstein. "I can’t believe they got Chad Fox for nothing from Boston. He throws 96."
Chuck
on October 10, 2003 at 9:59 pm
Perhaps I am. Perhaps I see a pitcher who doesn’t make big pitches when they are needed. Perhaps you need to yell at your TV rather than insult me.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 9:59 pm
Got here late but was listening to the radio… why did we let karros hit instead of simon w/ bases loaded w/ a righty coming in to pitch?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 9:59 pm
Tommy Goodwin with a stand up triple.
Looked to me like a fan touched it when it bounced over the wall, but apparently not. He just missed tying it with a homer.
Here’s Randall with a chance to drive in the tying run.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:00 pm
What Steve tried to say was that fan interference isn’t an automatic double, so even if McKeon wins his argument Goodwin will still get third.
Fox’s replay is inconclusive.
Where’s Ed Hochuli when you need him?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:01 pm
Chuck, are you new here?
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:01 pm
Maybe thats why…. yeah simon.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:01 pm
Double, triple, it does not matter.
Randall Simon hits one deep into the night and it’s a 4-3 Cubs lead!
C’mon we GOTTA blow these frickin fish terds outta the water.

Conine is one big fish terd
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:12 pm

Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:12 pm
Two strikes on Conine. Finish him, Farnsy.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:13 pm
Conine scares us with what looked like a single, but it carried all the way to Kenny for the second out.
My Pants

Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:14 pm
Dusty is overthinking again. Why is he bringing in Regular Joe now?
And he’s double switching. I’m now seeing white spots in front of my eyes.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:14 pm
What’s the double switch here? It has to be Ramon to second, right?
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:15 pm
Keep Farns in dang it.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:16 pm
Regular Joe to bat in Gruddy’s spot. Ramon to hit…in the catcher’s spot, since the last double switch was for Miller.
Todd Hollandsworth is the hitter.
Borowski
on October 10, 2003 at 10:17 pm
I’m sweating like a hooters girl at an IQ test.
The ball
on October 10, 2003 at 10:18 pm
How about a slider Joseph.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:19 pm
Did Joe just hock a loogie right on the ball?
It looked like it.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:20 pm
Joe is now rubbing his nose with his glove. He’s not too nervous is he?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:22 pm
Hollandsworth singles to left, Moises muffs it and then still throws home to let the go ahead run get to second.
Not Moises’ best effort.
To say the least.
Tied at 4.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:22 pm
God damn it… I hate Baker sometimes.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:23 pm
Lowell flies to right.
The bad news, we’re tied at four.
The good news:
Due up in the ninth,
Sosa, Alou, E-ramis and…oh, that’s where Ramon is. Blecch. Right? I’m lost.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:24 pm
Lets see… Farnsy throws 98, borowski 91, hollingsworth was late on every fastball… Good move.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:24 pm
Just why is Dusty hell bent on making the wrong pitching decision in every situation?
If you bring in somebody to pitch to Hollandsworth who’s not Farns, why not Remlinger?
I love him, but in this series it’s like he thinks the Marlins are going to vote him a World Series share.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:26 pm
We are going to lose… too many chances we have blown… god bless.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:28 pm
Sammy swings at ball four and strikes out.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:29 pm
We lose this we are done.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:29 pm
JK, you’re sounding a little like Yoda.
"Too many chances we have blown."
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:31 pm
Alou rolls very slowly to Lowell.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:31 pm
I wish I got as much @ss as Yoda.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:33 pm
Umps trying to help us. God bless him.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:33 pm
E-ramis has to at least get on, or we’ll have Bako, Gonzo and Martinez in the 10th.
Yikes.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:35 pm
A bad call on strike two, and E-ramis swings at strike three.
tHom is very excited about the Marlins chance to win it in the 9th.
The sad part, we won’t even have a legit chance to score until the 11th.
This is bleak.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:37 pm
Pierre beats out a bunt single.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:37 pm
At least its not the top of the order we are facing… o’ wait. Another promising start.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:39 pm
Castillo bunts Pierre to second.
You have to walk Pudge to set up the double play.
You have to.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:39 pm
Is God a Cubs fan? How about we walk pudge here.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:39 pm
Now I’m scared because Dusty agreed with me.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:40 pm
Pierre might be the only guy to score on a double play opportunity if the guy is safe at first. Scary.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:41 pm
The good news, I think Joe is out of sweat.
The original BC
on October 10, 2003 at 10:41 pm
I’m not that worried about Lee. Walking Pudge is the right call.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:42 pm
Whew!!! Just go w/ me on this… I’m calling a homer… only cause I’m never right in life.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:42 pm
Lee flies to center and inexplicibly, Pierre does not tag up. Kenny can’t throw him out from there.
We’ll take it.
Two outs. Here’s Cabrera.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:43 pm
Steve just said that on a flyball to the outfield, you must catch it.
Really?
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:43 pm
haha… good one w/ the out of sweat call. Any way we can put juan cruz, prior, zambrano in the outfield so we have a chance to throw someone out? Oh no passed ball is no good. Ok scratch this whole message.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:43 pm
Joe just forgot about Pierre and he stole third.
I smell a wild pitch. I’m going to throw up on myself.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:44 pm
Just walk Cabrera.
Mike Mordecai is on deck.
Joe does.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:44 pm
Too high at the quad.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:45 pm
No pressure here. Bases loaded. Season on the line.
Joe turning whiter by the second.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:45 pm
Thank god. God is a Cubs fan.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:45 pm
Future Hall of Famer Mike Mordecai flies to Lofton.
Joe escapes.
Now the move to take Farns out looks even more tragically bad.
After nine, it’s 4-4.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:48 pm
Martinez, Jerome Walton, and Brant Brown due up for the Cubs.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:48 pm
I have no idea what the order is now.
Ramon’s up, then…Gonzalez and Bako? Where’s Bako?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:49 pm
Bako has to be up after Gonzo, otherwise who went into Gruddy’s spot?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:49 pm
I smell a Bak-off homer!
JL
on October 10, 2003 at 10:50 pm
Bako’s up third this inning… pitcher’s position is second in the lineup
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:50 pm
Ramon’s expiration date was sometime in August. He strikes out. One down.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:50 pm
Didn’t expect anything differently. 1 out.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:52 pm
Pray for another inning.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:53 pm
Alex pops straight up to Pudge.
Here’s the hero.
Hey, it’s a thought.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:53 pm
Let it hit you Bako!
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:54 pm
Crowd it.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:55 pm
Urbina just blew Bako a kiss. What the hell was that?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:56 pm
Bako fans, despite my advice.
The bad news, we need at least six outs to win.
The good news, the rest of the Marlins bullpen will have to go to work if Remlinger can get through the tenth.
Will somebody tell Dusty after the game that Regular Joe is NOT Robb Nen?
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:58 pm
Again I am going to be negative and say the Cubs are going to lose this inning. (See: I am never right)
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 10:58 pm
Hey, this new Cubs pitcher looks like Joe Borowski!
Somebody frisk Dusty and see if he’s got Ken Caminiti’s crack pipe!
JL
on October 10, 2003 at 10:59 pm
Wait… is Fox replaying the last inning, cuz I’m pretty sure that I’m still seeing Borowski pitching
oh look, the fish terd, Jeff Conine, is back up to bat.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 10:59 pm
Holy crap… Borowski still? We pitch Farnsy 2/3 and Borowski this long. I just soiled myself.
lofton
on October 10, 2003 at 11:01 pm
that conine likes to fly out to me.
JL
on October 10, 2003 at 11:01 pm
JK… I’m going to try your negativity here…. Lenny Harris to win it here shortly.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:01 pm
Joe gets Conine for the first out and Lenny F. Harris is due up.
Dusty’s going to try and squeeze the whole 10th out of Joe.
Well, I mean, come on, it’s Lenny!
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:02 pm
See, that Lenny he’s a real sparkplug…oh, he grounds to second.
Two down.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:02 pm
Whew… Lennie has lost some speed since his 3 hits w/ us all year.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:02 pm
tHom has no idea what either batting order is. I look up to see Juan Pierre, and it’s Mike Lowell!
Fox should fire him during the game.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:03 pm
And finally, the Joe Borowski saga ends for tonight.
I hate to say it, but it might be good if he can’t close tomorrow.
Of course, Dusty will just use Dave Veres…
Anybody know a good place in your house to hang a noose?
Just curious.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:03 pm
Haha. "Now to the best part… he’s rich." I would smack the shit out of her… god bless.
Joe Borowski

Hey Dusty, let me hit. I’m due!
JK

My car has been in the garage running since the 8th… that reminds me, the dog never came in. Ooops.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:05 pm
We interrupt this tense extra inning game for Eliza Dushku.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:06 pm
Is it just me, or does tHom love to remind us how many Cubs have been retired in a row?
Simon
on October 10, 2003 at 11:06 pm
I weigh 434 lbs and I don’t let a 68 mph curve ball hit me.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:06 pm
Randall swings at one that nearly hits him and lines softly to second.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:07 pm
I must be drunk, I thought I saw Doug Glanville in the on deck circle.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:07 pm
I need a cig and a nap after that pic.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:08 pm
Why is it when we get a hit, its a bad pitch, not a good hit?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:09 pm
Michael Tejera sucks. He gives up a single to Kenny.
Psycho: "Kenny hits lefthanders as good as anybody–when he’s facing a lefty."
Huh?
Braden Looper is in to give up a few runs!
Dusty’s not really going to let Glanville bat, right? I mean normally you wouldn’t waste a pinch hitter in extra innings, but it’s Doug Glanville! Who’s gonna miss him?
Would you?
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:09 pm
Have we sold the Bears yet?
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:09 pm
This pitching change brought to you by, Eliza Dushku.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:11 pm
Glanville is going to bat.
643 or 436?
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:11 pm
Should we just bunt him over w/ Glanville? God bless again.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:12 pm
Andy, don’t be so negative.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:12 pm
If you bunt Glanville, they walk Sammy and you get Braden Looper v. Moises. I’ll take that.
Doug Glanville
on October 10, 2003 at 11:13 pm
Did I just hit a triple?
I think I did!
JK

Andy

What are the odds that the Cubs get pinch hit triples from BOTH Goodwin and Glanville.
Now they’ll walk Sosa and pitch to Mo.
Cubs lead 5-4.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:14 pm
One more run and we are set!!
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:15 pm
If Dave Veres gets up in that bullpen I’m going to go out and try and hug a moving semi-tractor trailer.
Come on Moises, we need another.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:16 pm
It would have been nice if Cabrera had caught that long foul ball, that’d have made it 6-4.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:16 pm
I wouldn’t of wanted anybody but Glanville up in that situation. Yeah, thats right… Riiigggghhhttt.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:17 pm
I don’t even like it when Veres sits in view of the camera in the bullpen.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:17 pm
I agree Andy. I’ve always wanted to know how those Combines did that w/ the corn. Veres comes in, I’ll know.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:18 pm
Moises pops to the first baseman.
Moron!
I hope your kid had a lousy birthday yesterday!
OK, was that a bit much?
JK

<----Calling a home run right here.
JK

Again, wrong.
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:19 pm
Why doesn’t tHom just wear a big "I hate the Cubs" t-shirt?
E-ramis pops out.
Thank God we left it up to Doug.
After ten and a half, Mike Remlinger can close it out.
Cubs 5, Marlins 4.

Oops, wrong Eliza. Try this one, too.
Matt
on October 10, 2003 at 11:21 pm
the cubs are like homer simpson. Death was at the door, and they say, "we don’t want any."
Andy
on October 10, 2003 at 11:21 pm
Glanville stays in to play left, because really, he’s much more clutch than Moises.
I think Dusty was saving Remlinger for the 11th, don’t you?
Sure.
JK
on October 10, 2003 at 11:22 pm
God bless that first pic. I’m nervous.
The original BC

Castillo on first.

on October 10, 2003 at 11:32 pm
Double play grounder to Remlinger, of course, he drops it. He gets Pudge at first. Two outs.
Runner at second.
If Dusty comes out of that dugout, somebody has to go tackle him.
Is tHom the only guy in the world who doesn’t know Remmy is tougher on righties than lefties?
JK

2 more of those.

The Cubs win!
I’m not kidding!
Jk

Andy

Have you noticed that Josh Lewin only lisps when he looks at the player?
Joththththth Lewin!
Folks, the Cubs NEVER win this kind of game. NEVER.
This is what it’s like to have a real baseball team to root for.
Now go out and get drunk look good Cubs fans.
Doug Glanville is the Desipio Player of the Game!
The Cubs take a 2-1 lead in the series!
Two more and they’re NL Champs!

What a great game, I was listening to it at work and got to see the last inning during a break.
Anyway, Andy, it’s called a period. Just so you know…
I’ll be here enjoying it with all of you tomorrow.

Looks like I’ll have to check myself into rehab with Rush in order to make it through the withdrawal symptoms I must now face.
tHomm Brennaman, still creepy.
Ahhh, it’s battle of the BP jerseys tonight. I hate those things, too.
I’m on a skinhead kind of roll right now.
OK, it’s REDMAN. He won’t be around long enough for me to remember it, though.
Fear not… here is another link for RSVP.
http://www.lifetimetv.com/games/rsvp/
Kenny hits one at Lee and Mark Redman just left his groin in a pile in front of first base. Lee muffs it. Lofton’s safe.
Yep, I won’t be around for even 2 batters, Andy
From what I’ve read, the Marlins are very cautious coming into this game. They fear Wood.
They’ve got a bloody good home ground advantage by the looks of things, though. If they can keep it close, they’ll back themselves to get away with it.
Hey, Robert Fick missed the final two games of the 5-game NLDS after hitting Karros in Game 4.
Lyons just said Redman doesn’t have a good move to first, but he does have a good move to home.
Huh?
Gruddy tests Redman’s concussion and sac bunts Lofton to second.
One out.
1-0 Cubs.
Nice start Cubs. There we go again, scoring in the first inning.
More to come?
1997 World Series MV…oh, wait, Moises Alou is up.
Can’t the Cubs pretend every inning is the first inning? They’d be unstoppable.
Leiter is reminiscing about Livan Hernandez’s great NLCS. Remember that NLCS game against Atlanta when Eric Gregg’s strike zone was roughly nine feet wide.
Alou hits into a 463 double play. But the Cubs get the only run they’ll need tonight! (Hey, it’s worth a shot.) After half an inning, Cubs 1, Marlins 0.
All right, what marketing genius thought up the Chili Cheese Cheez-it commercial with Quasimodo?
I’m stunned. And sickened.
Lyons scouting report on Kerry Wood is that "he can get wild at times." That’s what they’re paying Steve the big bucks for.
Jeff Conine has never faced Woody before. He’s in for quite a treat.
Pierre whiffs to start the game.
Al Leiter says "speed kills." Just ask Rabih Abdullah.
Castillo grounds to the good Alex Gonzalez. Our Alex should do superfluous spins like theirs, then tHomm would think he’s cool, too.
Pudge goes the other way…go figure and lines to Sammy.
Kerry gets through the first on ten pitches.
After one, Cubs 1, Marlins 0.
I’m a little concerned that my new favorite, addictive card game (RSVP) is a product of the evil Lifetime network. But…I don’t care that much.
Anyway, Karry Ling is at Pro Player Stadium and will be reporting throughout the night. He’ll file his first report in the middle of the second. We can hardly wait.
Al says something about tHomm having a very nice moon this time of year. I don’t want to know.
E-ramis lines hard, but right at Cabrera. Redmond’s not exactly fooling them.
Good start Cubs.
Just like that, another 8 times.
Now, if good Alex can keep his middle away stroke going, he’ll light this guy up.
That’s a big IF.
Kerry is parked in front of the Ron Santo jersey in the Cubs dugout. I’m not a big fan of that laundry.
But you knew that.
Full count on Alex.
Yikes! Good Alex walked. Really. I’m not making this up. Two on. One out.
Al loves the mound in Florida. I’ll take his word for it.
Redman might not like it THAT much, he’s throwing lots of balls.
Redman walks Miller and here’s big swinging Kerry. How about a granny?
Wayne Rosenthal is the Marlins’ pitching coach, but I think it’s actually Chris Bosio in the witness protection plan.
Kenny took a curveball outside and nodded "no" as the ball went past.
He singles, but Gonzo can’t score. Bases loaded.
tHom was going to criticize Wavin’ Wendell for holding him, but Lyons steps up and says, "He’s dead if he goes."
That has to hurt to get contradicted (correctly) by Steve Lyons.
Gruddy flies harmlessly to left.
But, the Cubs get another. One run per inning will work.
After one and a half, Cubs 2, Marlins 0.
Nice. That’s the way.
Good team scoring, guys.
Karry Ling here gang! I’m in section 494 here in Pro Player Park talking with some drunken Marlins fans.
How long have you been a Marlins fan?
Drunk Marlins fan: "Wooo! What time is it?"
Karry, it’s 8:52 here, why?
DMF: "Then I’ve been a Marlins fan for three hours! Whoo!"
OK, how about you sir?
Drunk Marlins fan #2: "Wooo! I’ve been a fan for a while, but I’m not an old timer like him. I’ve been one for like 45 minutes!"
OK. Back to you, Andy.
Derek Lee flies to center and Kenny makes a snowcone out of a routiner (trademark Mike Krukow.)
One down.
Looks like Miguel Cabrera’s strategy is to swing at every pitch. He’s going to swing at 12 and he hopes to hit one.
He does. He hits a broken bat bleeder into left.
There goes the no hitter.
Kerry makes Encarnacion look sick on a high fastball. Humiliated him.
Two out.
Conine singles and Cabrera should have gone to third. Apparently the Marlins think Sammy can still throw.
The evil Alex Gonzalez is up. How come he doesn’t do that stupid spin in the batter’s box?
Gonzalez doubles off the wall and scores Cabrera, Conine to third.
2-1.
Mark Redman hit oh-sixteen in the regular season. That won’t improve with a little tapper to Wood.
After two it’s 2-1 Cubs.
All right, go get it back.
Come on Cubs, don’t go soft.
Sammy strikes out to start the third.
Moises doubles with one out.
Moises flew home to the DR last night to be at his daughter’s eighth birthday party.
I’m not making this up.
tHomm’s telling the story I just told you.
We don’t need him.
E-ramis is going to torch this guy.
But not this time. He strikes out.
Karros goes the other way, but doesn’t hit it very hard. Castillo throws him out.
After two and a half, 2-1 Cubs.
tHomm is beating the "the only games the Marlins have lost are the ones Pierre and Castillo didn’t reach in" thing to death.
Pierre grounds to Grud.
Castillo grounds to Gonzalez.
Al Leiter is going to walk us through this at bat for Pudge.
But did Al ever get Ivan out this year?
Second pitch, Kerry buzzes Pudge with a fastball.
Al wants Kerry to ditch the slider and use the curve.
Kerry goes with another slider and strikes out Pudge.
After three, still 2-1 Cubs.
I’m here in the right field concourse eating a Cuban sandwich. It’s a staple here at Marlins games. It’s really good, except mine tastes a little too much like raft.
Raft! Get it!
Cubans!?!
No?
Ahhh, back to you, Andy.
Where are all the gratuitous shots of me?
Ahh, the subtle comedy of one Karry Ling.
Fox said they were going to cut down on the Sarah Wood shots, and they have, but maybe they just can’t find her?
Just listen for the wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Eerie.
Good Alex whiffs on three pitches and tHom likes it!
We need to stab him to death with a plastic spork.
Here’s my question about Damian Miller, how can you catch great pitcher’s your whole career and never learn to hit? I dunno.
Redman’s afraid of him, he walks him again.
Wood’s up.
Kerry’s bunting. First pitch is bunted foul.
Woody gets a perfect bunt down. OK, I know, if it was perfect he’d beat it out…
Miller to second, where he can score on a triple.
Lofton’s up, with two out.
Lofton’s two for two? They have him a hit on that ball in the first? Yikes.
Kenny pops to the catcher in foul ground.
Blecch.
After three and a half, 2-1 Cubs.
Lee grounds to E-ramis. One down.
Al Leiter is teaching us how to throw a slider. Literally, he’s waving a baseball at the camera. It’s freaking me out.
Kerry buzzes Cabrera and just missed the bill of his helmet. The next one’s in your ear, kid!
Al is complaining about how the hitters overreact to inside pitches. He’s right.
Wow. Miguel Cabrera’s mom played on the Venezuelan softball team? So then he’s probably got two mommies huh?
Wink, wink, lesbian, nudge, nudge.
Kerry strikes out Miguel. Sit down, kid.
Two away.
I just had really bad gas building up with that last swing.
MY old pal. Steve Stone, is offering great commentary on WGN.2 strikes to Encarnacion Steve says he will go down on a slider!
Kerry just found his slider. Bad news for the Marlins.
Kerry looks like the lightbulb just went on.
Time to put the Marlins lights out.
Gruddy, Sosa, Alou and E-ramis due in the fifth.
After four. Two – one Cubs.
Al called Mark "Gruds" and he grounds to third, after making Redman throw about 12 pitches, though.
Here’s Sammy.
Sammy does a nice job of getting to a change up and singles.
Alou pops to short.
Two down.
NOW is the time E-ramis will get a hold of one.
tHom thinks Redmond was among the league leaders in K’s. 150 was among the league leaders?
Blecch.
Redman is conscious of E-ramis immense power and walks him.
Two on. Two out. Karros needs to smack one.
Karros grounds meekly to third.
The offense has slammed it in park.
After four and a half, still 2-1.
Conine hits one to E-ramis that E makes a fine pick up on. Hey, Ricky Williams is in the house! He’s sitting behind a guy with a towel literally on his head. Huh?
One out.
Kerry’s slider of death kills the evil Alex. Two down.
Mark ".016" Redman is up.
Hee hee.
With one strike, Redman tries to bunt for a hit. Yeah, that’s going to happen.
Kerry goes 0-2 on Redman, now it’s 3-2.
And he walks him. That’s not good.
Yeah, but it was a hard .016.
He was 1-61? Kerry must just want him to run a little bit and get tired.
Or something.
The good news is that Juan Pierre can’t really run with Redman in front of him.
I don’t like the Cubs overplaying the bunt, because with 250 pound Redman on first, they could just throw HIM out.
Gulp.
Pierre singles.
Larry Rotschild out to chat with Kerry.
Larry: "Why did you walk Redman? He sucks."
Kerry: "I felt sorry for him."
Larry: "Really?"
Kerry: "Nah."
And in other news, Jaguar punter Chris Hanson suffered a self-inflicted wound with an ax that his coach put in the locker room as a motivational technique. Doh!
I hate it when Kerry misses the target like that.
Kerry walks Castillo and Pudge is up.
He’s due.
To make an out.
WHEEEEEE!
Kerry regroups and silders Pudge to death on three pitches.
He wants to go to right with everything and that looks like a juicy outside fastball until it drops off the table.
Muahahahahahahahahahaha!
After five. Cubs 2, Marlins 1.
Alex grounds to first.
One out.
I love it when Fox does in game updates when there aren’t any other games going on.
Miller cranks one to center, but not far enough. Two out.
Kerry grounds to short.
Five pitches get Redman through the sixth. Kerry needs one like that, too.
Still 2-1 Cubs.
Lyons just called the Cubs bullpen the "bully."
Lee acts like a bully and leads off with a single.
Cabrera grounds to third. They get Lee at second, but Gruddy’s throw is high at first and Cabrera is safe.
One out.
Encarnacion flies to Sammy.
Two down.
Not many pitches here for Kerry so far in the sixth.
Kerry makes a great two strike pitch to Conine, Jeff beats it into the ground and Kerry throws him out.
After six, Kerry’s at a reasonable 89 pitches and the Cubs are up 2-1.
Let’s get some runs!
I’m here in the parking lot with Rush Limbaugh’s former pill supplying cleaning lady. Are you surprised Rush has checked himself into a rehab program.
Cleaning lady: "He did enough oxycontin to kill a small horse. And when he was high on oxycontin he did a lot of small horses."
That’s…uh…great?
Back to you, Andy.
Lyons: "Redman pitches with his guts."
Hey, isn’t that illegal?
Lofton flies out to center and I think Fox just got a shot of Kerry taking a leak into a Gatorade cup in the dugout.
I’m not even kidding.
One out.
Whhheeeeeeee…eewwwwwwwww! Yick!
Al just said, "For the last six years I’ve had a relationship with Sandy Koufax."
One again (given that biography of Sany) Al’s outing himself again.
Gruddy pops to short.
Two out.
Sammy grounds to Cabrera, Cabrera dives and can’t throw out Sammy.
Sammy can still scoot when he needs to.
OK, Moises. Make it 4-1.
Al: "Psycho you talked about smelling the blood or tasting it or feeling it or something."
Nice.
Alou singles.
OK, now my E-ramis prediction comes true. Right?
Jack McKeon just went to the bullpen and he thinks he just brought in Goose Gossage.
Oops!
Hey, this site is neat! I’m here in Craig Biggio’s hot tub and we’re …
I mean, I’m at home with my lovely wife, Susan, of course. Hah!
The Cubs need a little two out magic rocket shot ticket to Cooperstown, don’t they?
You bet they do.
Honesty compells me to…
Shut up, Chip.
Chad Fox is in for the Marlins.
This should be productive for us.
He hasn’t come close on three balls so far to E-ramis.
E-ramis walks on four pitches. They’re loaded. Will Karros stay in or will we see Randall?
You know they won’t bring that dugout tossing tugboat pulling lefty Tejera in.
It’s still Karros and every Fox pitch has still been a ball.
Pitching coach visit. It means fastball to Karros on this next pitch.
Crush one Eric.
Karros got his heater and fouled it straight back.
1-1 count.
Fox gets strike two and thinks he’s got Eric now.
Check swing, ball two. Whew.
New life. Cash it in, Eric.
Karros strikes out. That was big.
Still 2-1 as we got to the bottom of the seventh.
I’m here with a rowdy bunch of Florida fans!
Hey guys!
Rowdy Florida fans: "Go Dolphins! Whooo! We love Ricky! Rick-eeeeee!"
Uh, guys. This is the Marlins game.
RFF: "Huh? Go Junior Seau!"
OK, whatever. How do you guys like Dave Wannstedt?
RFF: "Booooooooooooooo!"
See, they have some sense. Not much, but some.
Back to you, Andy.
Gonzalez, Lowell and Pierre due in the seventh.
A big inning to say the least.
Woody had Gonzalez 0-2 and caught him in on the hands with one, evil Alex dumped it into center.
Good DP candidate here in Lowell, though.
Look, Lowell hasn’t had a good hack off a real pitcher since he broke his hand. Just one lucky stroke against Mark Freakin’ Guthrie. Just bust him in on the hands, Kerry.
On the 0-1 pitch, Fox shows us a close up of E-ramis instead of the pitch.
Kerry falls behind 3-1 to Lowell. Oops.
Kerry walks Lowell. Two on, nobody out.
Pierre bunts Lowell to second and Gonzalez to third. One out.
tHom says Wood needs a K on Castillo. He’s right for once.
Castillo grounds to second and the game is tied.
Two out.
Lowell on third.
Wood’s night is done. The Farns is coming in.
crap. i want to break something.
Not a money pitcher, that KW.
It’s a double switch, with Randall Simon coming in for Karros, which makes Dusty not using Randall with the bases loaded last inning all the more confusing.
Farns’ first pitch is called a ball and Al says, "High? What was that a ball right down the middle?"
Steve and Al are now arguing about whether Kerry tried to throw too many strikes. I’m going to fire up the oven and put my head in it.
The Marlins think they’ve won this. We’ve seen that bullpen. They haven’t.
Great commentary on Wood’s approach. Just a poor thinking pitcher — with no help from his catcher or his manager/bench.
If the Cubs don’t come back tonight, they don’t come back from Florida.
Farns blows away Derek Lee.
The Marlins get two and lead it 3-2.
Chad Fox and the eighth beckon next.
So now we know that you actually meant that Kerry’s not a money pitcher, Chuck?
We were going to give you the benefit of the sarcastic doubt.
Now, you’re just a dope.
tHom says Jack McKeon’s not sure who he’ll use to close. That’s because Jack’s not sure who’s IN his bullpen.
Gonzalez flies deep to center.
One out.
Tom Goodwin will pinch hit for Damian Miller.
Miller walked twice tonight, which is an upset of epic proportions.
Al gives a shout out to Theo Epstein. "I can’t believe they got Chad Fox for nothing from Boston. He throws 96."
Perhaps I am. Perhaps I see a pitcher who doesn’t make big pitches when they are needed. Perhaps you need to yell at your TV rather than insult me.
Got here late but was listening to the radio… why did we let karros hit instead of simon w/ bases loaded w/ a righty coming in to pitch?
Tommy Goodwin with a stand up triple.
Looked to me like a fan touched it when it bounced over the wall, but apparently not. He just missed tying it with a homer.
Here’s Randall with a chance to drive in the tying run.
What Steve tried to say was that fan interference isn’t an automatic double, so even if McKeon wins his argument Goodwin will still get third.
Fox’s replay is inconclusive.
Where’s Ed Hochuli when you need him?
Chuck, are you new here?
Maybe thats why…. yeah simon.
Double, triple, it does not matter.
Randall Simon hits one deep into the night and it’s a 4-3 Cubs lead!
Ran-DALL! Ran-DALL!
A shot of the Cubs dugout shows some very small batboys for the Cubs. And Lester Strode! Are you kidding me?
I’m now worried that Bud will force the Cubs to forfeit for using underaged batboys.
Mike Quade, Lester Strode and underage batboys? Mix in Sammy’s "coach" and that’s quite a collection we’ve got there.
Let’s go CUB-EEZ! *clap* *clap *clap* *clap* Let’s go CUB-EEZ!
Lofton grounds to first.
Two out.
Woo Hoo!!
Fox has a mic on Gene Clines who did his Bob Uecker impression on Randall’s homer.
"Get up! Get up! Get up! Yeah!"
OK, it’s close.
We’ve got the obligatory beachball on the warning track delay now.
Have you ever taken a beachball to a baseball game?
Gruddy grounds to short.
The Cubs get both runs right back.
After seven and a half, Cubs 4, Marlins 3.
God bless Simon.
Cabrera singles to lead off the eighth.
The Cubs and Marlins have already set the LCS record for homers in a series. This is game three in case you lost count.
Mike Mordecai is coming up as a pinch hitter–he’ll be bunting.
Good start to the bottom of 8th.
C’mon we GOTTA blow these frickin fish terds outta the water.
WHEEE!
Mordecai gets the bunt down. Cabrera to second. One out. Conine is up.
Conine is one big fish terd
This ump has his cheeks pretty tight right now doesn’t he?
Two strikes on Conine. Finish him, Farnsy.
Conine scares us with what looked like a single, but it carried all the way to Kenny for the second out.
Please clean whatever that is that just fell in me.
I just caught one of conine’s terds!
Dusty is overthinking again. Why is he bringing in Regular Joe now?
And he’s double switching. I’m now seeing white spots in front of my eyes.
What’s the double switch here? It has to be Ramon to second, right?
Keep Farns in dang it.
Regular Joe to bat in Gruddy’s spot. Ramon to hit…in the catcher’s spot, since the last double switch was for Miller.
Todd Hollandsworth is the hitter.
I’m sweating like a hooters girl at an IQ test.
How about a slider Joseph.
Did Joe just hock a loogie right on the ball?
It looked like it.
Joe is now rubbing his nose with his glove. He’s not too nervous is he?
Hollandsworth singles to left, Moises muffs it and then still throws home to let the go ahead run get to second.
Not Moises’ best effort.
To say the least.
Tied at 4.
God damn it… I hate Baker sometimes.
Lowell flies to right.
The bad news, we’re tied at four.
The good news:
Due up in the ninth,
Sosa, Alou, E-ramis and…oh, that’s where Ramon is. Blecch. Right? I’m lost.
Lets see… Farnsy throws 98, borowski 91, hollingsworth was late on every fastball… Good move.
Just why is Dusty hell bent on making the wrong pitching decision in every situation?
If you bring in somebody to pitch to Hollandsworth who’s not Farns, why not Remlinger?
I love him, but in this series it’s like he thinks the Marlins are going to vote him a World Series share.
We are going to lose… too many chances we have blown… god bless.
Sammy swings at ball four and strikes out.
We lose this we are done.
JK, you’re sounding a little like Yoda.
"Too many chances we have blown."
Alou rolls very slowly to Lowell.
I wish I got as much @ss as Yoda.
Umps trying to help us. God bless him.
E-ramis has to at least get on, or we’ll have Bako, Gonzo and Martinez in the 10th.
Yikes.
A bad call on strike two, and E-ramis swings at strike three.
tHom is very excited about the Marlins chance to win it in the 9th.
The sad part, we won’t even have a legit chance to score until the 11th.
This is bleak.
Pierre beats out a bunt single.
At least its not the top of the order we are facing… o’ wait. Another promising start.
Castillo bunts Pierre to second.
You have to walk Pudge to set up the double play.
You have to.
Is God a Cubs fan? How about we walk pudge here.
Now I’m scared because Dusty agreed with me.
Pierre might be the only guy to score on a double play opportunity if the guy is safe at first. Scary.
The good news, I think Joe is out of sweat.
I’m not that worried about Lee. Walking Pudge is the right call.
Whew!!! Just go w/ me on this… I’m calling a homer… only cause I’m never right in life.
Lee flies to center and inexplicibly, Pierre does not tag up. Kenny can’t throw him out from there.
We’ll take it.
Two outs. Here’s Cabrera.
Steve just said that on a flyball to the outfield, you must catch it.
Really?
haha… good one w/ the out of sweat call. Any way we can put juan cruz, prior, zambrano in the outfield so we have a chance to throw someone out? Oh no passed ball is no good. Ok scratch this whole message.
Joe just forgot about Pierre and he stole third.
I smell a wild pitch. I’m going to throw up on myself.
Just walk Cabrera.
Mike Mordecai is on deck.
Joe does.
Too high at the quad.
No pressure here. Bases loaded. Season on the line.
Joe turning whiter by the second.
Thank god. God is a Cubs fan.
Future Hall of Famer Mike Mordecai flies to Lofton.
Joe escapes.
Now the move to take Farns out looks even more tragically bad.
After nine, it’s 4-4.
Martinez, Jerome Walton, and Brant Brown due up for the Cubs.
I have no idea what the order is now.
Ramon’s up, then…Gonzalez and Bako? Where’s Bako?
Bako has to be up after Gonzo, otherwise who went into Gruddy’s spot?
I smell a Bak-off homer!
Bako’s up third this inning… pitcher’s position is second in the lineup
Ramon’s expiration date was sometime in August. He strikes out. One down.
Didn’t expect anything differently. 1 out.
Pray for another inning.
Alex pops straight up to Pudge.
Here’s the hero.
Hey, it’s a thought.
Let it hit you Bako!
Crowd it.
Urbina just blew Bako a kiss. What the hell was that?
Bako fans, despite my advice.
The bad news, we need at least six outs to win.
The good news, the rest of the Marlins bullpen will have to go to work if Remlinger can get through the tenth.
Will somebody tell Dusty after the game that Regular Joe is NOT Robb Nen?
Again I am going to be negative and say the Cubs are going to lose this inning. (See: I am never right)
Hey, this new Cubs pitcher looks like Joe Borowski!
Somebody frisk Dusty and see if he’s got Ken Caminiti’s crack pipe!
Wait… is Fox replaying the last inning, cuz I’m pretty sure that I’m still seeing Borowski pitching
oh look, the fish terd, Jeff Conine, is back up to bat.
Holy crap… Borowski still? We pitch Farnsy 2/3 and Borowski this long. I just soiled myself.
that conine likes to fly out to me.
JK… I’m going to try your negativity here…. Lenny Harris to win it here shortly.
Joe gets Conine for the first out and Lenny F. Harris is due up.
Dusty’s going to try and squeeze the whole 10th out of Joe.
Well, I mean, come on, it’s Lenny!
See, that Lenny he’s a real sparkplug…oh, he grounds to second.
Two down.
Whew… Lennie has lost some speed since his 3 hits w/ us all year.
tHom has no idea what either batting order is. I look up to see Juan Pierre, and it’s Mike Lowell!
Fox should fire him during the game.
And finally, the Joe Borowski saga ends for tonight.
I hate to say it, but it might be good if he can’t close tomorrow.
Of course, Dusty will just use Dave Veres…
Anybody know a good place in your house to hang a noose?
Just curious.
Haha. "Now to the best part… he’s rich." I would smack the shit out of her… god bless.
Hey Dusty, let me hit. I’m due!
My car has been in the garage running since the 8th… that reminds me, the dog never came in. Ooops.
We interrupt this tense extra inning game for Eliza Dushku.
Is it just me, or does tHom love to remind us how many Cubs have been retired in a row?
I weigh 434 lbs and I don’t let a 68 mph curve ball hit me.
Randall swings at one that nearly hits him and lines softly to second.
I must be drunk, I thought I saw Doug Glanville in the on deck circle.
I need a cig and a nap after that pic.
Why is it when we get a hit, its a bad pitch, not a good hit?
Michael Tejera sucks. He gives up a single to Kenny.
Psycho: "Kenny hits lefthanders as good as anybody–when he’s facing a lefty."
Huh?
Braden Looper is in to give up a few runs!
Dusty’s not really going to let Glanville bat, right? I mean normally you wouldn’t waste a pinch hitter in extra innings, but it’s Doug Glanville! Who’s gonna miss him?
Would you?
Have we sold the Bears yet?
This pitching change brought to you by, Eliza Dushku.
Glanville is going to bat.
643 or 436?
Should we just bunt him over w/ Glanville? God bless again.
Andy, don’t be so negative.
If you bunt Glanville, they walk Sammy and you get Braden Looper v. Moises. I’ll take that.
Did I just hit a triple?
I think I did!
Yeah!!!!!!! Being negative works every time… damn I’m good.
i know i’m new here.. but i do not believe what just happened. i’m shocked.
What are the odds that the Cubs get pinch hit triples from BOTH Goodwin and Glanville.
Now they’ll walk Sosa and pitch to Mo.
Cubs lead 5-4.
One more run and we are set!!
If Dave Veres gets up in that bullpen I’m going to go out and try and hug a moving semi-tractor trailer.
Come on Moises, we need another.
It would have been nice if Cabrera had caught that long foul ball, that’d have made it 6-4.
I wouldn’t of wanted anybody but Glanville up in that situation. Yeah, thats right… Riiigggghhhttt.
I don’t even like it when Veres sits in view of the camera in the bullpen.
I agree Andy. I’ve always wanted to know how those Combines did that w/ the corn. Veres comes in, I’ll know.
Moises pops to the first baseman.
Moron!
I hope your kid had a lousy birthday yesterday!
OK, was that a bit much?
<----Calling a home run right here.
Again, wrong.
Why doesn’t tHom just wear a big "I hate the Cubs" t-shirt?
E-ramis pops out.
Thank God we left it up to Doug.
After ten and a half, Mike Remlinger can close it out.
Cubs 5, Marlins 4.
That go ahead run brought to you by Doug Glanville’s favorite Fox actress:
Eliza Dushku
Oops, wrong Eliza. Try this one, too.
the cubs are like homer simpson. Death was at the door, and they say, "we don’t want any."
Glanville stays in to play left, because really, he’s much more clutch than Moises.
I think Dusty was saving Remlinger for the 11th, don’t you?
Sure.
God bless that first pic. I’m nervous.
I’m still not thrilled with the idea of Remlinger saving this game, but death isn’t an option, right?
To be quite honest… I might get swamp ass here pretty soon.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Veres AND Alfonseca in the bullpen!
Veres and El Pulpo warming up in the bullpen, according to Steve Stone. I can’t watch.
Wait, is tHom still telling the story of the Marlins game three win against the Giants?
Still?
Just think how fast Pierre would be if he wasn’t a midget. Scary.
If he throws that Curve ball for a strike… damn it… thats the first time I have seen him throw that.
2nd now.
wow, fox finally posted a "not since" stat that did not include 1908 or 1945.
Just throw fastballs. If he gets on, its off to the garage for me.
I was calmer than this on prom night. And my shorts are just as wet.
Pierre grounds to good Alex.
One down.
If anybody in that booth says something about Castillo’s power side, I’m hiring a sniper.
I know a guy. Was that foul tipped?
Yes…once again, it’s the dropped third strike. That’s three times in this playoffs.
Castillo on first.
Home run right here… game over.
Pudge, I’ll polish that stupid f@#$ing statue you have of yourself if you’ll just hit into a double play.
I have my fingers, legs, and testicles crossed.
If thats at Oakland thats an out.
Poop.
Home run right here… game over.
2 more of those.
Real count 1-2
Great baserunning Castillo. I learned that in little league.
E-ramis boots a grounder and Luis Castillo just graduated magna cum laude from the Lonnie Smith School of Baserunning! He gets in a rundown, he’s out and the Cubs win!
The Cubs win!
I’m not kidding!
I hate to take credit… but my negativeness basically won this game. Again, I don’t want all the credit, the game still has to be played. But your welcome guys/cubs.
I can’t stop tying exclamation points!
Good!
Night!
See!
You!
At 7 p.m. tomorrow!
One more exclamation point for good times.
A little housekeeping.
This win brought to you by Eliza Dushku
Doug Glanville!?!!!!!!!
I’m a hero!
Sorry I couldn’t join you guys earlier this evening, I had to work…
What a great game, I was listening to it at work and got to see the last inning during a break.
Anyway, Andy, it’s called a period. Just so you know…
I’ll be here enjoying it with all of you tomorrow.
