Dawn of the Tyler Colvin Era
« on: September 22, 2009, 09:13:08 AM »
The Cubs 2006 first round pick made his debut last night with a single, a walk and an RBI.  And I have to say, he's got the worst looking swing I think I've ever seen.

So, yay?

His swing is apparently modeled after the NSBB kid in your signature.

Didn't we choose him in the first round because he was cheaper than other options? No one else had him in the first, possibly the second round but us? And we used the money to sign Samardija? Nice choice, Jim.

I thought we signed him because he wnt like 6 for 8 with a  grand slam in a 2 game stretch of the College World Series.
I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

The draft occurs before the CWS. You just noticed that he went 6-8 with a grand slam because Hendry had signed him the week before.

Don't tell him what I noticed, boy.

The swing in question:

Looks slightly better than Ted Lilly's.

Hee Sopp Choi had a pretty swing. Korey did too. So I'm ok with a guy that looks like a hack swinging if he hits the ball.

I'm being 100% serious when I say this:  I thought Tyler Colvin was a black guy.  I'm shocked.

I'm being a little less serious when I say that he swings like a mini Justin Morneau.

Wholeheartedly agree.  I just saw the photo on the Trib's website.  I had no idea he was a white man.

He's either the bizarro Bobby Scales and/or Les Walrond, or maybe the second coming of Kyler Burke.
